- The director Hubert Moest began his professional career as a painter before he appeared on stage as an operetta singer and actor from 1895. Finally his engagements led him to Berlin in 1912 where he also began to direct first stage plays.
- In the film metropolis Berlin he soon got in touch with the film business and he took part as an actor in his first movie in 1913.
- Hubert Moest was among others married with the actress Hedda Vernon.
- His last cinematical works as a director came in the 20s into being. Afterwards his film career came to an end and he had to earn his living with different smaller jobs. He appeared a last time in front of the camera in 1942 for the movie "Verschwörung gegen Marco" (1942).
- Hubert Moest founded his own company in 1919 with "Moest-Film GmbH" (19-22), afterwards he founded the "Moest-Produktions GmbH" (22) and finally the "Aladin-Film Co." (22).
- He attended high school in Cologne, an art school and worked as a painter. In 1895, he began performing as an actor and opera singer on stages in Bad Godesberg, Hagen and other cities of West Germany. He came to Berlin in 1912 and was part of the theater at Nollendorfplatz. In the same year he was also active as a theater director.
- Moest was the son of the sculptor Richard Moest.
- In 1923 he married Jewish Elly Charlotte Liepmann and after Adolf Hitler imposed restrictions on Jews, Moest led a very difficult life and worked as an assistant in the company Elekta -Film in Prague.
