Original The Good Doctor cast member Chuku Modu is once again a series regular on the ABC medical drama, playing Dr. Jared Kalu.
Modu, who originally returned midway through last season as a recurring, has been promoted to regular for the upcoming seventh season, now in production.
Modu’s surgical resident Dr. Jared Kalu was a breakout character in Season 1. He got into trouble for punching a doctor who had sexually harassed his girlfriend, resident Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) and ultimately headed to Colorado for a surgeon job.
Kalu eventually left that job to become a concierge doctor, which is how he ended up back at San Jose’s St. Bonaventure Hospital. He ended up sticking around his old stumping grounds.
The full-time return of Modu, first reported by TVLine, follows the exit of fellow original Good Doctor cast member Will Harper who is running for Senate. Brandon Larracuente also...

ABC continues to shore up its lineup for the 2023-24 season.
The network has picked up a seventh season of its medical drama The Good Doctor, marking the third renewal in as many days for the network. Earlier in the week, ABC renewed The Rookie and Will Trent for 2023-24.
The Good Doctor is also poised to become a franchise, as ABC aired a backdoor pilot for a potential spinoff, titled The Good Lawyer, in March. Should it go to series, it will star Kennedy McMann and Felicity Huffman.
The Good Doctor remains among ABC’s most watched scripted shows, particularly with delayed and cross-platform viewing. The show’s same-day average of 3.3 million viewers jumps to 9.1 million after five weeks of multiplatform viewing, and its rating among the key advertising demographic of adults 18-49 grows nearly sixfold, from 0.32 to 1.85. It's been a few months since fans last checked in with Dr. Shaun Murphy, but thankfully, the wait for The Good Doctor season two is almost over. And that certainly comes as a relief to anyone who is still reeling from that cliffhanger ending that found Shaun facing his mentor's brain cancer. The question of how the brilliant doctor will deal with Dr. Aaron Glassman's diagnosis will play a major role in season two if the new trailer is any indication. In a voiceover, Dr. Glassman teases, "Shaun has a uniquely gifted mind. He faces challenges most of us could never imagine. He faces challenges most of us could never imagine. Former House executive producer Thomas Moran is back at Fox with a new drama project. The network has handed a script commitment with sizable penalty to St. Nick, an irreverent drama about a young Catholic priest going down a morally corrupt road for all the right reasons. Moran is writing and executive producing for 20th Century Fox TV. Moran, repped by the Shuman Co. and attorney Michael Gendler, currently consults on another 20th TV drama, the Howard Gordon-produced Legends for TNT (through Fox 21). He was on House for the medical drama’s entire eight-season run, rising through the ranks from supervising to executive producer, and previously worked on Jag and NCIS.

Our sneak peek of Universal’s recent releases continues with season six of the Fox medical drama House. Let’s take a look inside the next volume of happenings at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital…
The Show
I’ll admit that when it first started, I was a big fan of House. Midway through the first season, I was introduced to it by a friend and followed it all the way through season two. However, by mid-season three, the show had rubbed me the wrong way one too many times, and I bid adieu. I haven’t watched it since. When I got the chance to review this season, I wondered: had it changed? Was House still so insufferable that I could no longer root for him as the show’s protagonist? Was the show still having all the major female characters fall over him? Was it still carrying the soapy plotlines...

Chicago – With the departure of Adrian Monk (“Monk”), Jack Bauer (“24”) and Jack Shephard (“Lost”) along with the stoppage of the revolving door of personalities at “Law & Order,” there are very few time-tested icons left on television. One of the remaining TV characters that will clearly have a chapter of his own in the history books of the medium is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) and his stellar sixth season of the Fox medical drama was recently released in an excellent Universal set.

Ratings have dropped for “House” over the years but it still remains one of the network’s most popular programs and the fact is that Nielsen numbers are down all over the dial as the modern tracking system has yet to truly account for DVRs, iTunes, On Demand, Hulu, and all the other ways that people watch television in 2010. “House” may not literally be a top...

Amber Tamblyn, who previously co-led the ill fated series The Unusuals for ABC, will be joining the Princeton Plainsboro team on House. Tamblyn will play a highly competitive med student hired on to House's elite team. Fox is billing her as having a multi-episode arc, rather than joining the show as part of the permanent cast. It will be intriguing to see how far this thing will go. Here is the announcement from Fox.
Amber Tamblyn has signed on to appear in the upcoming season of House for a multi-episode story arc. She will play a brilliant and aggressive medical student whom Dr. House (Hugh Laurie) hires as a new team member although she is technically not yet qualified to practice medicine. Tamblyn’s character will be confronted with the morally and ethically questionable way that House practices medicine.

Five research fellows from the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning transformed an abandoned house in Hamtramck (which is basically Detroit) into their very own lab rat. The recent architecture grads gave it new stairs, walls, glazing, rooms -- the works. But it wasn't some heroic attempt to build shelter for down and outs, which a lot of architecture schools are into these days. It was a pure design exercise -- one aimed at rethinking the conventions of a single-family home -- and it shows how much creativity...

This just in from Fox:
Hugh Laurie, star and executive producer of House, will direct an upcoming episode of the hit Fox series scheduled to air this spring. This marks the first time Laurie has directed an episode of House in the more than 100 episodes produced to date.
“I am thrilled, daunted and honoured – with a ‘u’ – by this new responsibility,” said Laurie. “House scripts are Fabergé eggs, and I will try my very hardest not to drop this one on a stone floor.”
“I’ve wanted him to direct since Season One. In fact, I can’t believe he’s actually doing it,” said House executive producer Katie Jacobs. “There is no one more qualified to direct the show than Hugh Laurie. I’m sure this is evident to anyone who’s seen the show, but he is simply the most versatile, talented, funny actor on TV today. Add...
