“The Rachael Ray Show” long had a reputation as a model for how to treat a crew. Veterans of the syndicated daytime talker praise the workplace culture that endured over its first 14 seasons. Even as signs of belt tightening began to creep in a few years ago, those on set appreciated the show’s inclusiveness, the parties that would occasionally be thrown for crew members and the feeling that they were always being treated with respect.
Now, in the middle of a global pandemic, more than 20 crew are being cut loose without warning and without pay.
The relationship between the show and the folks who make it began to shift in March, when the latter were informed that Ray would, in response to the rapid spread of Covid-19, shoot the remainder of the 2019-20 season remotely from her house in upstate New York without on-site assistance from anyone beside her...

A brand new Us TV show, Camelot, begins filming at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow this week. The 10 part series will be filmed in the same location as the hit series starring Johnathon Rhys Myers, The Tudors. The series is expected to generate up to $35million for the local economy over the next 22 weeks. Ardmore Studios managing director Kevin Moriarty said Camelot was building on the success of the Tudors which took place over the last four years. "A series like Camelot provides ongoing economic activity in various film-related services over a prolonged period," he said. Moriarty said that Ardmores professional approach to The Tudors has attracted the attention of many Us and Canadian producers. "I think it’s fair to say that The Tudors convinced a lot of producers outside this country that Ireland can provide production values that can match the best in the business,” he said. Irishman Ciaran Donnelly...

Last April, word broke that comic scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa had signed on to write an updated version of the musical "It's a Bird…It's a Plane…It's Superman" with director Kevin Moriarty at the Dallas Theater Center in Dallas, Texas. With the revived musical scheduled to open in June, Aguirre-Sacasa has started to elaborate on the changes he made to the original musical by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams — the Broadway legends behind "Bye Bye Birdie."
Aguirre-Sacasa told Comic Book Resources the story will be set in 1939, one year after Superman's first sighting in Metropolis.
"By making it a year after Superman's debut, we could cut into the story," he explained. "Enough time has passed that Lois Lane is already in love with Superman (and not interested in Clark) and Lex Luthor wants to kill Superman." Aguirre-Sacasa also indicated that the interplay between Clark and Lois would be...

I did the summer program at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, N.Y. -- Lab Company '06. It changed my life. I was working in Chicago, and it made me move out to New York, brought my acting to an entirely different level, and allowed me to be more comfortable as me. I've gone back for two children's tours since, became Emc [Equity Membership Candidate] because of it -- oh, and met my boyfriend there, who I now live with…almost three years! The artistic director at the time, Kevin Moriarty (now with Dallas Theater Center), and the associate, Wendy Dann, gave us a Thornton Wilder quote: "The test of an adventure is that when you're in the middle of it, you say to yourself, 'Oh, now I've got myself into an awful mess; I wish I were sitting quietly at home.' And the sign that something's wrong with you is when...

Dallas Theater Center, in association with Smu Meadows School of the Arts, presents In the Beginning, an adaptation of the first 10 chapters of the Book of Genesis, featuring the newly announced Dtc acting company, and directed by artistic director Kevin Moriarty. In the Beginning runs Jan. 21-Feb. 15 at the Kalita Humphreys Theater. Presenting familiar stories from Genesis - the creation of the world, Adam and Eve in Eden, jealousy and murder among brothers, the world's destruction by water - In the Beginning offers a fresh retelling of age-old tales interspersed with engaging dialogue taken directly from conversations with local community members and respected religious scholars about the text. "In the Beginning does not present a single, definitive interpretation of the stories we find in Genesis," Moriarty says. "Rather, it is a reflection of the conversations we've had with people of faith throughout our community about the text and the personal...
