Playback singer Neeti Mohan says she has observed that a woman gets fewer lines in a duet track for a film, but personally, she emphasizes on the importance of a song rather than the length of her part.
Neeti told the publication: "I think last year, I was feeling it too much that the female part in a duet song is much shorter than the male part in the song, but I think it is slowly changing. This year I did not have such a song."
"In my song 'First Class' from the film Kalank, I was okay with the shorter part in the duet because it was to praise the man. In the Bharat?song 'Aithey aa' also I have a substantial part. My problem starts when I see that in a situation when the girl is telling her feeling, say crying or laughing, the song is sung by a male singer.

It is where hearts meet, auntyjis gossip and kids have a blast. Navratri shin-digs are the ‘it’ get togethers in the Desi calendar every year. It’s a nine day long festive period where everyone joins in daily for a night of song and dance. Apart from being the social get together of the year the festival has a strong religious meaning. It celebrates nine forms of Goddess Durga, one on each night, hence the name nav-nine ratri-nights. The 10th day is the festival of Dashera, marking the ultimate triumph of good over evil in Indian history.
Unlike any other usual festival, navratri songs and dance are specific. They have a distinct beat and the dance form adopted is garba or dandiya. The song and dance routine of the night, garba or dandiya, also have a strong historical backing as depicts the rasa-lila between Lord Krishna and the gopis of Vrindavan.

Leaving Home –The Life and Music of Indian Ocean
Rhythm abound, Leaving Home, foremost, is a film about time. It’s an attempt to crunch nearly three decades of lived history of Indian Ocean in two hours. Watching the final cut – a worthy precipitate of the 195 hours of shot footage - I realised why editing is the most painful part of filmmaking. Every moment shot is worthwhile, why would you have captured it otherwise? What goes in, what doesn’t. Changing, rearranging. Cutting, and then cutting some more. These are all very difficult decisions to make. Solely from that perspective, Leaving Home comes across as an interesting and rigorously edited film where stories and arguments, presumably, emerged and sutured on the editing table. Afterthought, at least, in film craft is not such a bad thing! Leaving Home doesn’t confuse chronology with linearity. Shuttling back and forth in time, and jumping across story threads,...

New Delhi, There was a time when folk songs were part and parcel of Bollywood films, but now popular rustic tunes seem to have gone missing from movies even though composers are experimenting with different genres far more than they used to. One still remembers the melodious Bhojpuri number "Nain lad jayiye hai" from the 1961 film "Ganga Jamuna" and other folk songs like "Bichua" from "Madhumati" (1958), "Chalat musafir" in "Teesri Kasam" (1969) "Dil ka bhanwar" in "Tere Ghar Ke Samne" (1963) and "Ohre taal mile" from "Anokhi Raat" (1968). All these tracks were chartbusters. But the charm of folk songs gradually faded away and only once in a blue moon does one get to hear their influence in film music. Singer Shubha Mudgal rues that mainstream ...
