Netflix announced Monday that rapper Kid Cudi will team up with “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris to create an adult animated streaming series based on his upcoming album, “Entergalactic.”
Written by Kid Cudi with “How to Make It in America” creator Ian Edelman, “Entergalactic” will follow a young man on his journey to discover love. Barris will produce the show through his company Khalabo Ink Society, which has an overall deal with Netflix.
Barris, who produced the recently released “Shaft” and “Little,” has several other projects as a writer and producer on his slate, including a remake of Roald Dahl’s “The Witches,” which he co-wrote with director Robert Zemeckis, and the sequel to the Eddie Murray ’80s comedy “Coming to America.” Cudi, who released “Kids See Ghosts” with Kanye West last year, aims to release his new album later this year.

Buddy cop movies enjoyed their heyday in the 1980s, teaming unlikely partners like Nick Nolte and Eddie Murray in 48 Hrs. and Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon. The idea was to pair up two very different personalities, ensuring the conflicts and resolutions needed to liven up standard police procedurals. Recent examples run the gamut from R.I.P.D. (recently deceased Ryan Reynolds and supernatural veteran Jeff Bridges) to The Heat (cocky FBI agent Sandra Bullock and streetwise Melissa McCarthy). In 2014, Ice Cube and Kevin Hart teamed up for the action-comedy Ride Along, starring as a veteran undercover officer and a security guard in Atlanta, respectively. Adding to the hilarity, the security guard wants to marry the detective's sister (Tika Sumpter), which offers...

The first five films directed by Walter Hill -- whose latest effort, Bullet in the Head, opens on Friday, Feb. 1 -- reflect a rich diversity of historical periods and display a recognizably lean, laconic style. It's a style that would be crystalized and popularized in 48 Hrs., his sixth film, which redefined the "buddy" movie for the 1980s and made Eddie Murray Murphy * a star. Hill's ouevre is filled with mysterious characters -- men and women -- oozing machismo and quiet menace, often paired with people -- partners, accidental and otherwise -- who are less physically intimidating and more obviously imperfect, with their emotional and mental strengths waiting to be discovered. After 48 Hrs., Hill played around more in a thematic sense with...

Zap2it: Are you a longtime sports memorabilia collector, and this turned into your business?
Robbie Davis Sr.: I collected for years. I started collecting in the early '80s. Initially, we started with baseball cards, and I was in the automobile business at the time. And when I got out of the automobile business, and my best friend played first base for the Orioles, Eddie Murray, I named the store Robbie's First Base, after my friend and my son (Robbie Jr.). We started buying and selling baseball cards, and it took over the business because I have such a collection. When I was in the car business we had athletes that represented the business, and I had contacts when I opened the store. I could get signatures and not go through agents.
Zap2it: Which sport sells the most memorabilia, and why do you think that is so?...

The bad-boy comedian and voice of Donkey in Shrek has found a new leading role – as host of the 2012 Oscars awards
Age: 50.
Appearance: an older, wiser Eddie Murphy.
That would be helpful if I knew who we were talking about. Eddie Murphy – bad boy comedian and actor, star of Boomerang, Vampire in Brooklyn, Holy Man, Daddy Day Care, Norbit …
Never heard of him. Or them. What about Trading Places? Beverly Hills Cop? Beverly Hills Cop II?
Vaguely familiar, but definitely before my time. He's also the voice of Donkey in Shrek.
I love Donkey! He says what the rest of us only dare to think! What's he been up to? He, or rather Murphy, is going to host the 2012 Academy Awards.
Why him? It could be that after last year's bland and largely unsuccessful pairing of James Franco and Anne Hathaway, the Oscar folks have returned to the idea of...

THR reportedly said Charlie Sheen‘s iconic “Wild Thing” Rick Vaughn would play a key role in new sequel of the Major League franchise.
The original film’s writer and director, David S. Ward, who said that he’s scribed a script for a third “Major League” film — the series took a late-90′s detour to the minor leagues — and that Sheen’s got a major character to play.
It’s 20 years later and Charlie’s character has been out of baseball since he gave up the walk-off homerun in the seventh game of the World Series. But the team wants him back to mentor this young fireballing relief pitcher.”
Sheen said he’s very much up for doing a new “Major League” movie and even had hosted over the Presidents Day Weekend screening of his 1989 comedy “Major League” for an all-star spectators that included baseball celebrities like Brian Wilson,...

The new, "100 percent" sober Charlie Sheen has found a more wholesome way to have a little fun -- and spend a little money. The "Two and a Half Men" told TMZ he flew baseball stars past and present to his home to watch his 1989 hit, "Major League." Sheen told the site he flew in San Francisco Giants pitcher Brian Wilson on his jet from Arizona to Los Angeles, and also brought in Kenny Lofton, Todd Zeile, Eddie Murray, Lenny Dykstra. Pete Rose was supposed to be there but couldn't make...

When Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince moved from November to July, every other studio studied their release plans for next summer and began getting out of the way.
Yesterday, Universal Studios announced its feature film version of Land of the Lost will vacate its July 17 berth, avoiding opening the same day as the teen wizard. It moved to June 5, a currently empty slot, assuring it a chance at success. It’s only competition at present is the Jack Blake/Michael Cera comedy Year One.
Land of the Lost is a big budget version of the Saturday morning series from the 1970s, starring Will Ferrell and Pushing Daisies’ Anna Friel. It was one of many series created by Sid and Marty Krofft that have been enjoying renewed attention.
At present, the rest of June also has the big screen adaptation of The A Team opening on July 12 along with Universal...
