In transforming Chris Hemsworth’s Thor into a funnier and more relatable Avenger, Taika Waititi had fun pitting him against Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk and pairing him up with the wisecracking, scene-stealing rock man Korg, which was mocapped and voiced by the New Zealand director himself.
“Thor goes through this crazy world with all these bizarre characters,” Watiti said. “I thought it would be cooler to make the matchup with Hulk a part of the gladiatorial battle, and keep it within that circle. And I wanted Hulk to be less wild and all over the place because in the other films it’s like he has no control over his body. So they were jumping and punching in the arena rather than flying around.”

When Rhonda Casto set out on March 16, 2009, for a hike with her boyfriend, her family had no idea the day would transform into a nightmare — one that ended with Casto’s lifeless body at the bottom of a steep ravine.
The plan was for Casto, a 23-year-old aspiring model, to walk the popular Eagle Creek Trail along Oregon’s Columbia River Gorge accompanied by her boyfriend, Steve Nichols.
Casto handed their 9-month-old, Ava, to her mother that morning and she and Nichols headed off.
“She was so happy,” Nichols tells People. “It was a nice day starting out.”

Cops investigating the possible murder-suicide of Nascar superstar Robby Gordon's father say they've recovered a butcher knife near the body of Sharon Gordon ... TMZ has learned. For visual effects in an effects-driven motion picture feature, the nominees are "2012," "Avatar," "District 9," "Star Trek" and "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
Noms for supporting visual effects in a movie went to "Angels & Demons," "The Box," "Invictus," "The Road" and "Sherlock Holmes."

Ed Jones, an executive producer on feature animation Oscar winner Happy Feet, has joined Rainmaker Animation to produce Escape From Planet Earth. The Weinstein Co. is financing the comedy and will handle worldwide distribution.
Additionally, Steve Nichols has joined Rainmaker as animation director.
The film marks the first theatrical animated feature for Rainmaker. Production began last week at the company's Vancouver facility; voice talent has not yet been cast.
Earth is helmed by Tony Leech and written by Leech and Cory Edwards. Producing with Jones are Preston Stutzman of Blue Yonder Films, Jonathan Shestack of Jon Shestack Prods., Brian Inerfeld of Protocol and Gregory R. Little of Rainmaker Animation. Rick Mischel is executive producer, and Jeremy Stein will co-produce. Weinstein Co. co-president of production Michael Cole and vp production and development Eric Robinson are overseeing the project on behalf of the company.
Earth, an original idea by Leech, is a comedy about an alien prison break from Area 51.
