Legacy Recordings is honoring the 30th anniversary of Pearl Jam’s seminal sophomore album Vs. with a series of special new releases, and Consequence has vinyl copies to give away to three lucky fans!
Each of the three winners will receive a 2xLP black vinyl edition of Vs., the 1993 follow-up to Pearl Jam’s game-changing 1991 debut Ten. With tracks like “Daughter,” “Dissident,” “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town,” and “Rearviewmirror,” the album saw the grunge icons avert the curse of the sophomore slump, even becoming one of the few bands in Saturday Night Live history to perform three songs in an episode (rather than the standard two). Vs. also marked Pearl Jam’s first LP with producer Brendan O’Brien, who became their go-to collaborator for numerous subsequent records.

Meeting your partner’s parents can be challenging. Regardless of your confidence in your relationship, a wrong move with the parental units can spell disaster for your future. For Adam Devine‘s Owen Browning, he never banked on his fiancee’s parents being accomplished bank robbers. This hurdle is a tricky jump for Owen, a by-the-books bank manager, and all-around goofball. In Netflix‘s The Out-Laws trailer, Owen and his fiancee Parker (Nina Dobrev) discover Parker’s parents are the notorious Ghost Bandits, and they need the couple’s help to get them out of a jam.
Tyler Spindel directs from a script by Evan Turner and Ben Zazove (Sherlock Gnomes). The official synopsis says, “Owen Browning (Adam Devine) is a straight-laced bank manager about to marry the love of his life, Parker (Nina Dobrev). Artists’ influences are never nearly as interesting as what they do with them. Chris Cornell always thrived at taking well-known songs and making them his own. One of Soundgarden’s earliest recordings was a rendition of Howlin’ Wolf’s steady-grooving, broken-hearted blues “Smokestack Lightnin’,” on which Cornell seemed to find his own anguish in the vocal, hollering, screeching, and howlin’ like he was on his own personal torture rack. And later, when he approached others’ tunes, the song itself wasn’t always the most apparent influence. He variously replaced the...

Earlier this year, word spread through the music industry: The star K-Pop group Bts was on the hunt, prowling for a new single. “It was a bit of a holy grail cut,” says the English writer-producer David Stewart. “I had quite a few conversations with big producers and writers in America who were trying to get it.”
Stewart ended up winning the Bts lottery along with Jessica Agombar: The pair penned “Dynamite,” the K-Pop septet’s first all-English-language single. The lite-funk track, complete with scrubbing rhythm guitar and stabbing horns,...

Despite being instantly labeled as one of the worst movies of the year even though it only arrived in the third week of January and bombing so hard that it stands to lose Universal $100 million in the long run, Dolittle still ranks as the third highest-grossing film of 2020 after earning $236 million at the box office before the industry was brought to its knees by the Coronavirus pandemic.
Robert Downey Jr.’s post-mcu career didn’t get off to the best of starts, with reports claiming that the family film’s dismal performance had seen him drastically lower his asking price to reprise the role of Tony Stark, and even with extensive reshoots and several delays, the best Dolittle could come up with was having their leading man perform a colonoscopy on a dragon.
As the budget ballooned to $175 million in an attempt to salvage what was inevitably shaping up to be a disaster,...

Last week, we learned that a new Teenage Mutants Ninja Turtles movie is coming – a CG-animated venture, headed for theaters, that’s set to be produced by Seth Rogen and his Point Grey Pictures label. But this isn’t the only new Tmnt project that’s in the works. We previously brought you the news that ViacomCBS is likewise developing another live-action film and we may now know who the villain in it will be.
Earlier this year, we learned that the studio was developing a darker take on the franchise inspired by the original comic books. Apparently, there was some concern about the tone of it after the R-rated Birds of Prey disappointed at the box office in February, but the project is still going ahead and now, our latest intel tells us that the villain of the piece will be Krang. At least, that’s according to sources...

Back in January, Dirty Honey singer Marc Labelle was wearing a vintage-looking Aerosmith T-shirt onstage at Nashville’s Basement East while belting out the classic-rockers’ 1976 hit “Last Child.” It was a bit on the nose, but that’s the unabashed appeal of this L.A.-based band, a Seventies/Eighties rock outfit that isn’t afraid to wear its influences — quite literally — on their sleeve.
Dirty Honey came together in 2017 when Labelle, a New York native, met guitarist John Notto at the singer’s regular covers gig at a Santa Monica bar.

In honor of National Gun Violence Awareness Day on Friday (June 5), Pearl Jam officially released for the first time the original, uncensored 1992 video for its classic song “Jeremy,” directed by Mark Pellington. This version has circulated in varying degrees of quality online and on Pellington’s Web site for some time, but the update unveiled by Pearl Jam on Friday has been remastered in HD and features a new audio track first remixed by Brendan O’Brien for the 2009 reissue of the band’s 1991 Epic debut album “Ten.”
The release comes as gun violence continues to plague the United States, particularly the recent murder of Breonna Taylor by policemen in Louisville, Ky., which has become a rallying cry for protesters all over the world. It also extends Pearl Jam’s longtime support of gun violence initiatives, including contributing fellow “Ten” track “Porch” to the just-released documentary “Parkland Rising,” about the teen-driven...

Most recently collaborating on the 1989-set coming-of-ager (set against the backdrop of Ted Bundy’s execution) SXSW selected short Fry Day, they continued their creative output with 2020 Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab selected Birth/Rebirth. Laura Moss (whose Production Design work is featured in Cannes Competition entry Yomeddine and Sundance Next section selection 306 Hollywood) and Brendan O’Brien (whose Boom operator work can be heard in recent films such as Birdman and The Many Saints of Newark) have collectively seen their works shoring up at the Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, SXSW and Tribeca Film Festivals.
On paper, Birth/Rebirth sounds like a noir dark humored project with a logline focusing on an all-female reimagining of the Frankenstein story focusing on a grieving maternity nurse and an obsessive morgue technician who are unexpectedly bound together in a quest to successfully re-animate a deceased child.…...
