Was a popular singer in Peru, until he moved to Virginia with his
mother and siblings.
Named his daughter Siboney, after a Cuban tribe that disappeared before
Spanish conquistadores settled in Cuba. Siboney means "returning
ruler", the tribe was named Siboney after the tribe bones were found in
the early 80s.
His father Nestor Paiva was an orphan at age 3.
Children: Jose Louis Paiva (b. 1975) and daughter Siboney A. Paiva (b.
1985)
