In celebration of my favorite characters “birth” I decided to do a simple strip showing how far we have come, from when a castle was only three pixels on an atari to the hyper realistic graphics of today. Happy birthday Mario, now show us your birth certificate. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. I am a self-professed addict to Call of Duty Black Ops especially the online packs. One thing I’ve never understood is quite how the game thinks the proper place to spawn the next wave of enemies is directly behind you. This is especially true in Nuketown, a level that gleefully mows you down in an infinite cycle of slaughter. After playing Portal 2′s multiplayer I can only hope the future of Valve doesn’t turn exclusively towards online single player. Playing any game in co-op mode is only fun when paired with someone who you actually know and thus removes any method of anonymity, the four loco of the internet world, turning somewhat sane people into insolent jerk. If the future of gaming is online then the Psn has the right idea. Zero-lives is a weekly comic strip lampooning the world of video games from the 8bit predecessors to the current systems. Portal 2 has become my latest addiction, each level is caked (pun intended) with secrets and intrigue to the point where I spend more time looking for Easter eggs than actually solving the puzzles. Ever since I first plugged in the Konami code on Contra for extra lives I have held it with deep reverence as an almighty code passed from the ancients. And ever since then I have always wondered what would happen if it were imputed in reverse, that which brings lives must also take them away. Please consider this a cautionary tale. Today's roundup includes discussion fodder involving David Fincher, "The Neverending Story," James Franco as Chris Campbell, the "Alien" franchise, "The Sandlot," "The King's Speech," "The Boss of It All" and "Major League." - Entertainment Weekly has listed the '25 Greatest Working Directors.' Topping it, edging out Christopher Nolan at #2, is David Fincher: Why Him: His taut, meticulous thrillers reflect his own irrepressible obsessiveness, but his last two films are the work of a supremely confident maestro of visual storytelling.…

I never knew why Nintendo thought that 3 lives would be a great default life amount for Super Mario 1. When I was a kid I used to use them up in the first world alone. Anyhoo, I thought it would be a fun parody of I Am Number Four, which is the only enjoyment I’m sure to get from that series. Believe it or not, there was a time when The Beatles wanted to star in a live-action adaptation of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, with Stanley Kubrick to direct. The cast would be Paul McCartney as Frodo Baggins, Ringo Starr as Sam Gamgee (both as hobbits), George Harrison as the wizard Gandalf, and John Lennon as the creature Gollum, but either Kubrick wasn't on board for it or Tolkien killed it (it's unclear which).
Obviously, that would have been an interesting project that unfortunately we'll never get to see. But artist Shane Parker has decided to give us his depiction of what the Beatles in the LoTR could have looked like with his Abbey Road-LoTR mash-up "Moria Road." [...]...
