Infinity Pool is a movie written and directed by Brandon Cronenberg starring Alexander Skarsgård, Mia Goth and Cleopatra Coleman.
You may hate it or love it, but this movie was created from an extreme and risky gamble.
Knowing where this director comes from and feeds on a tradition of risks… everything is under control.
This is a movie that knows how to penétrate into the most fascinating morbidity and fall into the excesses of grotesqueness.
Storyline
Some tourists are on vacation in an island paradise called Tolga (fictitious). They meet another couple, and accidentally run over a native of the island, which sends them into an inner nightmare.

One of the most envelope-pushing movies to ever unspool at Sundance was injected like a drug into audiences’ eyes as Infinity Pool, the latest mind-warping outing from Brandon Cronenberg, hit the Midnight section Saturday night.
Neon is opening Pool in theaters Jan. 27 with an R-rating but the cut that screened at Sundance was Nc-17. There were no notable walkouts, so that meant the crowd fully ingested the cocktail that not only featured skull-crushing violence and rich people behaving badly with clones, but also doses of blood, sperm and other bodily secretions — real or imagined — coming in and out of various body parts.
“There’s a lot of conformity and monotony when you read scripts,” said star Alexander Skarsgard at the post-q&a with the cast and filmmaker. “You’ve just seen the movie. It’s just crazy, crazy.… Love it or hate it, but it’s rare to experience something like this as an actor.

"You know, James? You worry they got the wrong man." Neon has revealed the first trailer for Infinity Pool, the latest film from David Cronenberg's filmmaker son Brandon Cronenberg, following his cult favorites Antiviral and Possessor before this. It was just announced as a big premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival in January, playing in the Midnight section. This sounds like it's going to be extra messed up and crazy. Sundance's description states: "James and Em are enjoying an all-inclusive beach vacation when a fatal accident exposes the resort's perverse subculture of hedonistic tourism, reckless violence, and surreal horrors." Starring Alexander Skarsgård, Mia Goth, Cleopatra Coleman, Thomas Kretschmann, Amanda Brugel, and John Ralston. Oh shit this looks extra crazy!! It gets extra dark in the second half of this trailer. So they're making clones, but also have to sacrifice other people? Interesting, very interesting. ›››

Brandon Cronenberg, son of horror maven David Cronenberg and quickly becoming one of the most exciting voices in the genre, has an upcoming sci-fi thriller called "Infinity Pool," and it had to be re-edited in order to avoid an Nc-17 rating. The Nc-17 rating is typically reserved for the kind of adult films you'd find in the "back room" of a video store and is usually viewed as a death sentence for any film pursuing a theatrical release. Streaming changed the game, allowing films like "Blonde" to debut without the suggested edits for an R-rated theatrical release. Anyone familiar with Cronenberg's previous films like "Antiviral" and "Possessor" shouldn't be surprised "Infinity Pool" was slapped with the initial Nc-17 rating, because the man loves to explore deeply provocative themes of sex and death.
The production immediately filed an appeal with slight re-edits, and the film's original rating was voided in place of an R rating.

Fans of the early 2000s hit family series Life With Derek will be happy to know the cast has reunited onscreen once again! On August 31, the stars of the Disney Channel classic shared photos from the set of a new spinoff movie, Life with Lucas. It continues the trend of beloved ’90s and early 2000s YA shows being rebooted or revived for a modern audience. When we last left the teens, both Derek (Michael Seater) and Casey (Ashley Leggat) had been accepted to the same university, ready to head off to college. The new feature will focus on what has happened to our favorite step-siblings in the last 15 years. Both are now raising families of their own, in completely different ways, of course. Leggat took to Twitter to post photos with her onscreen step-brother and mother, as well as the new kids in the cast. John Ralston, ...

From the 2010 edition of the Blacklist to Zac Efron’s schedule, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari’s screenplay for Die in a Gunfight seemed to be getting the fast-track into theaters before seven years of development saw a revolving door of actors and directors changing. It would take almost a decade before cameras started rolling and the person sitting prettiest after the whole ordeal became Collin Schiffli. After two indie films written by frequent collaborator David Dastmalchian, he’s finally got his hands in the Hollywood pie with Lionsgate and a modestly star-studded cast of B-listers to help make his stylistic flourishes look good. And there are a lot of them. Whether or not they work to make this riff on “Romeo and Juliet” a success is beside the point.

It's been years since Life With Derek, a Canadian sitcom that aired in syndication on Disney Channel, wrapped up, but here we are, debating whether there was incest at the heart of it. Yep, you read that right. The show ran for four seasons from 2005-2009 with a follow-up movie, Vacation With Derek, and told the tale of the Venturi-McDonald clan. The blended family living in Canada included Casey McDonald (Ashley Leggat), Derek Venturi (Michael Seater), their siblings and parents George Venturi (John Ralston) and Nora McDonald (Joy Tanner). A typical sitcom premise, nothing really special here…until you look at the relationship between Casey and Derek. And that's what some Twitter users did. It's sending them...

There seems to be endless low budget horror with titles like the one above (and I have watched many!). ‘The Curse of…’ or ‘The Haunting of…’ and it’s always 50/50 on the quality so I generally go in with low expectations.
I will say right off the bat that The Curse of Buckout Road exceeded those expectations. Buckout Road is ‘the most haunted road in America’ and the movie covers some of the myths, legends, ghosts and folklore that apparently haunt the road. There’s plenty on show and I’m sure plenty more if they were needed for a sequel. A group of young people start to think that these myths might...

A little out of nowhere, Ready or Not has gotten on the radar of the film community. A few months ago, a trailer dropped and really caught some interest on the internet. Well, having seen the movie last month, I can vouch for it being worth all the presumed fuss. Not only is the flick a really fun little horror offering, it’s also arguably one of the funniest films of 2019. It’s literally a riot, with one of the best endings of the year, genre be damned. If you have a predilection for dark humor, this is going to be your jam in a big way. The movie is a genre hybrid, set on what should be the happiest day in the life of our protagonist Grace (Samara Weaving). She’s marrying Alex Le Domas (Mark O’Brien), the love of her life. Beyond that, she’s now entering...

An illustration of how bigger often isn’t better when it comes to remakes, “Our House” applies a coat a professional polish to Matt Osterman’s no-budget 2010 regional indie “Phasma Ex Machina” (aka “Ghost in the Machine”) that wipes the personality clean off this supernatural tale about messing with forces beyond one’s control. The story basics remain, involving a machine that summons spirits both wanted and unwanted to a grieving family. But what this still modest yet considerably slicker upgrade gains in surface gloss and FX, it loses in psychological intensity and suspension of disbelief — qualities the prior film’s hand-made auspices heightened.
In their place, we get what now feels like a very ordinary if competent haunted-horror story about a nuclear family that’s bound to look rather pedestrian in the immediate wake of “Hereditary.” However, there’s reason to suspect first-time feature helmer Anthony Scott Burns and...

Review by Peter BelsitoIn writer-director Molly McGlynn’s feature debut, substance abuser and substance abuse counsellor Mary (Aya Cash) is suspended from her job after a DUI arrest, so she returns to her hometown of Niagara Falls. There she finds her long-estranged father (John Ralston) dying of cancer — and he is hopeful that Mary will finally get to know her half-sister (Sara Waisglass). Mary discovers that the personal problems she’s been studiously ignoring only grow more inescapable in the presence of the estranged family members who more or less caused them.
Mary (Aya Cash) is a 29-year-old Toronto resident with a serious partying habit. When after a latest inebriate and sex night we see her among an addicts’ support group, we assume she’s ready to mend her ways.

Well, I hope your wishlist for season 2 of Nikita included handsome men in tuxedos, because that's what you're going to get in episode 2.02, entitled "Falling Ash" and airing on Friday, September 30.
Devon Sawa will be making a return guest appearance as our favorite slightly unhinged former Division Guardian in this episode. Nikita and Michael will be investigating a former Division program named P9 when they run into Owen again. He's on the hunt for Dr. Joseph Mars (guest star John Ralston), who helped create and resurrect the P9 program, as well as created the Regimen. Owen hopes to find Dr. Mars to help wean himself off the drugs he's forced to take.
Michael, of course, doesn't trust Owen as far as he can throw him, but Nikita wants them to join forces. The trio heads to a swanky party - complete with the aforementioned swanky tuxes - in the episodes,...

A familiar face will be returning in episode 2.02 of Nikita. Back at Comic-Con (where the cast gave away quite a few spoilers for the new season), we learned that Devon Sawa's Owen would be returning early in the season. Now The CW has revealed a few details of his return.
The episode, entitled "Falling Ash", will air on Friday, September 30. In the episode, Nikita and Michael will be investigating an old Division program named P9, which was very corrupt. But it looks like the program might not be so old anymore. In fact, it seems to be up and running again.
During the course of their investigation, the duo will run into Owen. Owen is currently on the hunt for Dr. Joseph Mars (guest star John Ralston), who is the mastermind behind the P9 program. Dr. Mars also invented the Regimen that Owen became addicted to. It is Owen's hope that finding Dr.

HBO Canada announced that it renewed its half-hour series Living in Your Car for a second season.
With the unstable economy as a backdrop, we follow Steve Unger (John Ralston), a fallen corporate executive whose rule of the financial world comes to an abrupt halt when he is arrested and charged with fraud, obstruction and racketeering. After cutting a deal to get out of prison, Steve quickly realizes his old life no longer exists: his former colleagues shun him, his wife, Lori (Ingrid Kavelaars), and daughter, Kate (Mariah Horner), don’t want to live with him, and even his own parents refuse to help him. As he clings desperately to the last vestige of his former self – a luxury sedan – Steve finds himself under court order to teach an ethics class, forbidden from working in any position that involves other people’s money, and making a new home for himself in his car.
