New Delhi, Nov 26 (Ians) The horrifying incident of the 2008 Mumbai attacks which is well known as 26/11 was a tragic incident which has gone down in history as one of the worst and biggest terrorist attacks to ever take place.
It has been 15 years now, and while India is moving on from that nightmare it has left scars that have never fully healed. Carried out by 10 Pakistani terrorists, the attacks went on for three days with the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus being the biggest targets.
Over 175 people were killed in this attack and over 300 injured. Over the years many storytellers have presented the story of these attacks from different aspects. Some have presented the story from the victims’ point of view, some from the medical fraternity, the Nsg commandos to the planning of the attacks.

Tiger 3
Starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif , Emraan Hashmi, Revathi, Riddhi Dogra
Directed by Maneesh Sharma
The good news first. Tiger 3 is infinitely better than all his recent films which reeked of self indulgence. As Avinash Singh Rathore, alias Tiger, Salman is more in-character than you will see him being in any film since Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Now the bad news: Tiger 3 is not half as engaging as the first two instalments of the Franchise. The tactile tension of the first two parts is conspicuously absent this time, as if the heart has gone missing from the action. The overwrought narrative is carpeted with stylish stunts. But they all seem… stunted! There is a lack of spontaneity and, dare I say, vivacity in Salman’s action moves. In contrast, Shah Rukh was discernibly more agile on his feet while decimating his enemies in Pathaan and Jawaan.

I fail to understand why the makers of a major Salman Khan starrer franchise ‘Tiger 3’ chose to release on a Sunday! Why not release on the preceding Friday to use the weekend and later, to cash on the festive mood! Well, it’s a matter of business and I will leave it at that. For me and the audience the reason to watch Tiger 3 is as much their mission as the makers – ‘Mission Time Pass’. With Salman Khan top lining the cast, one is well aware that it has to be a fan pleasing ‘Salman Khan entertainer’, period.
The ‘Tiger’ franchise has changed its captain again with ‘Fan’ director Maneesh Sharma at the helm of affairs. He doesn’t let you blink with its over-the-top action, some decent performances, twists and a gripping screenplay. Maneesh Sharma packs all the elements in a manner that it makes for an intriguing watch.

Custody, directed by Venkat Prabhu, is an action-packed crime drama that prioritizes thrilling action sequences over intense storytelling. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu languages, Custody immerses the audience in a world of relentless action as it explores the pervasive issue of corruption among political leaders. Naga Chaitanya portrays A. Shiva, an honest and hardworking constable determined to bring a criminal political leader to justice. From the start, the movie grabs your attention with high-octane action scenes that keep you on the edge of your seat. While Custody doesn’t delve deeply into the intricacies of the corrupt political system or offer an in-depth character development, it compensates with adrenaline-fueled sequences that keep you entertained. Custody revolves around the challenges faced by Shiva in his quest for justice. Throughout the film, Shiva encounters a series of obstacles, including bribe-taking uniformed guards, who repeatedly stand in his way.

Review'Modern Love: Chennai' must be applauded for breaking Kollywood tropes, but how can movies on romance, posited to tell “locally rooted stories” placed in Tamil Nadu, mysteriously remove caste from the equation?Modern Love-fever is going nowhere any time soon, it seems. The English language short film anthology created by John Carney, after a two-season run, spawned Modern Love: Mumbai and Modern Love: Hyderabad, traveling from love stories set across Europe and the US to South Asia—all produced by Amazon Prime. The latest iteration titled Modern Love: Chennai, boasts a directorial list that includes Bharathiraja and Thiagarajan Kumaraja. Many will know Thiagarajan for his film Super Deluxe which represents a marked shift in the kind of stories told in Kollywood, though not without flaws. The popular director also took on the role of creator for Modern Love: Chennai, an ambitious project. So how does this much anticipated six-part anthology fare?...

ReviewFor some reason the period of the film is set in 1998. The twist too feels as old as the decade in which the movie is taking place. In director Venkat Prabhu’s Custody – starring Naga Chaitanya and Krithi Shetty – an entire government machinery goes in chase of a policeman, who is at the bottom of the system. Besides his designation of a constable, the caste location also reveals the male lead’s vulnerability. Practically how the protagonist fights these challenges to emerge victorious is the story of Custody. The film also stars Arvind Swamy, Priyamani, Sharat Kumar, Vennela Kishore and Krithi Shetty and others in important roles. Shiva (Naga Chaitanya) is a police constable working in a small police station. He accidentally meets Razoo (Arvind Swamy), a gangster accused in a bombing case that has killed several people. Shiva takes upon himself to save Razoo from the others who are...

KollywoodA Gen Z reader of Kalki's literary magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ pens her thoughts on the women characters who drive the story forward, Mani Ratnam's adaptation of them to celluloid, and her anticipations for the sequel.Courtesy: Twitter/ Lyca ProductionsWhen veteran Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam decided to finally translate Kalki's literary magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan to celluloid, a long-pending dream project of Kollywood, fans were doing cartwheels in excitement. Amid euphoric discussions about the music and the grand ensemble cast, what had me looking forward to the movie the most was the story’s unforgettable women characters — all etched into the hearts of readers for different reasons — and the prospect of this ace director adapting them to screen. Mani Ratnam, to his credit, has created some of the most headstrong women characters in Tamil cinema — Divya (Revathi) from Mouna Raagam and Ok Kanmani’s Tara (Nithya Menen) immediately come to mind.

Revathi’s Phir Milenge (2004) dealt with the subject of AIDS; her latest directorial Salaam Venky is again a medical / illness slice-of-life drama centered around a true story of Kolavennu Venkatesh, a 24-year-old chess player, dealing with the subject of a person suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (Dmd) and euthanasia. Bollywood has seen a story on the subject of euthanasia not so long ago in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai starrer Guzaarish (2010). Salaam Venky may be telling a sad story, but it picks up hints from the evergreen Rajesh Khanna-Amitabh Bachchan starrer Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand (1971), “Zindagi badi honi chahiye, lambi nahin” (roughly meaning life should be lived to the fullest); where the patient is aware of his illness but takes it in his stride and stays cheerful. On similar lines, the protagonist Venky picks up lines and references from popular films’ characters and tries to keep everyone cheerful.

Ananth Narayan Mahadevan’s Busan International Film Festival selection “The Storyteller,” based on a short story by Oscar-winning Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray, isn’t “just another homage” to the late master.
Film enthusiast Tapobrati Das Sammaddar recommended Ray’s story “Golpo Boliye Tarini Khuro” to Mahadevan, who was “instantly fascinated by the layered social satire.” The story follows an unpublished Bengali storyteller who answers a help ad from a Gujarati businessman who suffers from insomnia, and there is a twist in the tale.
Samaddar translated the story and Kireet Khurana (“T for Taj Mahal”) and Mahadevan developed it into a screenplay that was a faithful adaptation of the original. Mahadevan, who cites Ray’s “Charulata” and “Pather Panchali” as influences, says that the choice of film grammar was the tricky part of the shoot.
