- Was involved in a nearly fatal car accident in 1997. He lost control of his BMW when another car cut him off. His car swirved uncontrollably and became airborne, then tumbled onto an offramp. He was bedridden for months, though he has almost fully recovered.
- After recovering from his 1997 accident, Benny considered returning to his father's farm in Puerto Rico and maybe running for Governor, but opted to stay in LA after he met his sweetheart, a widowed neighbor.
- Was a staunch opponent of statehood for his native Puerto Rico until polling showed he had a shot at winning one of the two potential U.S. Senate seats.
- He started out as an extra in the late 80s. He had unbilled parts in TV movies like Deadly Intentions (as a juror) and Badge of the Assassin (as a Middle Eastern terrorist in a dream sequence), as well as in theatrical films (Runaway Train, Real Genius). His full time job is driving for film crews, however.

- Has has said that of all of the major studios he worked for, he thought Disney was the worst.
- Is an avid fisherman and loves to cook his catches. He is also known for cooking spicy ethnic dishes of his native Puerto Rico.
- Briefly owned a small security firm. It folded when his career in the entertainment industry became more lucrative.
- He loves classic cars. He owns several himself and enjoys driving them around in his spare time.
- Was asked by the crew to don revolutionary attire and join the rest of the extras in the final battle scene of Three Amigos (1986). Producers thought his rugged Hispanic features were ideal for the era. He even scored a brief close-up. He was serving as a driver on the film at the time.
- Was fond of actress Alexandra Paul. After working with her on the film Prey of the Chameleon (1992), Benny would often comment about how classy she was and what a joy it was working with her.
