Netflix is home to almost every kind of murder mystery and crime documentary from around the world. Some of them showcase the bone-chilling atrocities committed by serial killers, and others still leave us wondering who the killer might actually be. To its plethora of unsolved murder mystery documentaries, Netflix has just added another infamous and heart-wrenching story that chronicles the life and death of famed British TV presenter Jill Dando. The three-part docuseries, Who Killed Jill Dando? delves deep into the mystery, from her rise to prominence in her TV presenting career to her dead body being found at her doorstep, prompting viewers to reflect on the fateful events.
In 1999, Jill Wendy Dando was at the height of her successful career as a journalist and TV presenter when tragedy struck. Along with the famous radio and TV presenter Nick Ross, Jill was co-presenting Crimewatch, a BBC TV program that garnered massive popularity,...

Bhubaneswar, Jan 24 (Ians) Defencing Champions Belgium remained on course for back-to-back titles as they reached the semifinals of the Fih Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 203, prevailing 2-0 over New Zealand in the quarterfinals at the Kalinga Stadium here on Tuesday.
They joined World No.1 Australia in the semifinals and await the winner of the Netherlands and Korea on Wednesday to decide a place in the final.
The Red Lions struck via Tom Boon in the 10th minute and Florent Van Aubel then doubled their lead in the 15th minute. The two strikes in the first two quarters proved enough as they defended stoutly to thwart New Zealand.
The talk before the game was the injury suffered by Alex Hendrickx leaving Belgium without their ace drag-flicker for the rest of the World Cup.
However, star forward Tom Boon allayed some of the worries by scoring the first penalty corner Belgium...

Bhubaneswar, Jan 22 (Ians) India messed up a plethora of chances and a 3-1 lead midway through the third quarter to allow New Zealand to come back and hold them 3-3 in regulation time and then fluffed a few more chances in the shoot-out to lose 4-5 in sudden death in their Crossover stage match and crashed out of the Fih Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup, here on Sunday.
It was a story of errors and missed chances as India held a 2-0 lead just before half-time but allowed New Zealand to score a late goal to make it 2-1 at the breather. On resumption, the Indians extended the lead to 3-1 but poor marking in the circle and basic error while defending allowed New Zealand to score two quick goals and hold Graham Reid’s side 3-3 at the end of 60 minutes of play.

Our most enduring stories reflect the nocturnal picturehouse of our subconscious
Interviews with the horror novelist James Herbert – and, after his death on Wednesday, obituaries – revealed two crucial autobiographical details: that he was prone to shockingly vivid dreams, and was brought up as a Roman Catholic. Herbert's acknowledgement of nightmares as a contribution to stories that sold 54m copies is striking because any tally of the profits made from popular entertainment over the last two centuries suggests a clear link between the most enduring forms of storytelling and the most frequent features of the nocturnal picturehouse of our subconscious.
If the images created in the heads of sleepers were downloaded, it's likely that the majority of narratives would be: sexual/romantic fulfilment, comic misunderstanding or humiliation, horrifying pursuit and capture, and the continued presence of our beloved dead. And these scenarios best fill the cinema and literature industry tills when...

An ABC editor has defended the publication of a press release from mobile phone brand Amaysim on the organisation’s website as an article, saying “it was a bad press release but made for an interesting blog”.
Nick Ross, technology and games editor at the ABC, took to Twitter and the comment thread of Mumbrella to defend the piece which was posted on Friday afternoon and deleted after its similarities to the press release were pointed out on Twitter.
The article was bylined to Gerard Mansour. The ABC article did not reveal that Mansour is the PR manager of Amysim Australia.
The deleted ABC posting (Click to enlarge)
The ABC piece – about a survey into the use of acronyms carried out by Amaysim – included a prominent mention for Amaysim in the third paragraph. Two changes were made to the release – a reference to “Amaysim being a “low-cost mobile service provider” was removed from that paragreaph.

Babelgum announced today it has secured exclusive rights to distribute season 1 of Old Friends, which is now up in its entirety, and that production is wrapping up on season 2 which will be released on the site in January 11. We've been following the work of New York comedy standouts Nick Ross and Tim Curcio for a while now, even before their popular comedy series hit the web earlier this year. Ross had starred in 2008's Park Bench series, which stood out for its sharp witted simplicity—"two lusty yet oblivious dudes whiling away the summer on a Central Park bench," according to our reviewer. The 7-episode first season of Old Friends, tells the story of Tim and Nick, two 28 year-olds who are reunited after not seeing each other since high school. There's a classic comedic tension setup, with a little love tangle going on. Tim is now married to his high school sweetheart,...

For those of you searching for a safe reason to lambaste Twilight: New Moon without sounding like a grumpy old fogy, Asylum.com has the answer: New Moon's werewolves simply aren't werewolves. "They're cheap shape-shifters," says Asylum's Nick Ross. "Those men belong on Daytona Beach." Yes yes, that's why I can't bear to see New Moon: the faux werewolves. Better to be a horror film connoisseur than an aging movie snob. (Check out the video, after the jump.) Kudos to Ross and Co., though any video that begins with musical cues from Teen Wolf and closes with Tracy Jordan...

Tim Curcio just ran into Nick Ross, whom he hasn’t seen since high school and would have preferred it stay that way. Because, though Tim married his high school sweetheart, Nick took her virginity. Now Nick wants like hell to be Tim’s best friend, while Tim would rather see Nick get hit by a truck. That’s Old Friends, though Tim would never describe them as such. Bottom line, this show is good. From top to bottom: premise, performances, and production all conspire to create one solid web-series with some serious legs. Tim and Nick both from NYC’s Upright Citizen Brigade not only play Tim and Nick, but created and write the show. Their last project, Park Bench, was a crowd favorite last summer. And Matt Cady as Dp and producer deserves serious props for its beautiful production value and crisp look. The three of them partners in their production company,...

A couple months ago, thanks to the power of Facebook and nostalgia, I met up with a few guys I grew up with but hadn’t seen in nearly ten years. Situations like those are always nerve-wracking because you never know what kind of people they may have become or what kind of baggage was picked up or dropped off along the way. Fortunately, well-adjusted heads and our shared escapes from the hometown provided common ground where, otherwise, there may have been little. But to say that some folks don’t age so gracefully would be an incredible understatement and I’m glad it was these two fellas I met up with instead of randomly running into some Wooderson-type from back in the day. The stop-and-chat with a long lost/forgotten friend is a fear laying dormant in far too many of us as we go about our daily business...

Presenter Nick Ross is to host a new TV series on the fight against crime in the UK. The former Crimewatch presenter will front three hour-long investigations as part of the BBC One show, which has been given the working title The Truth About Crime. The primetime programme will follow police around the country as they demonstrate their work. It will look into the media's reportage of incidents and the public's fear of crime, while Ross, 61, will also interview victims. "I can promise the series will throw up a lot (more)...
