In May 2023, Netflix confirmed that it had renewed Virgin River for a sixth season. However, the show’s writers could not immediately get back to work on the new episodes due to the WGA strike, which began in May. The strike ended in late September, allowing the writers to return to work.

Virgin River fans are going to need to be patient. Not only will it be another two months until the final season 5 episodes drop on Netflix, they’ll also have a long wait for season 6 – possibly until 2025. (Sob!) Unfortunately, we can’t magically conjure up more episodes of your favorite small-town drama. But we can point you to some other equally binge-worthy shows like Virgin River on Netflix that should keep you entertained while you wait for new episodes.

An idyllic setting, charming cast, and sweet love story are often the ingredients needed for a good comfort watch. The desire to escape everyday pressures since the pandemic has seen viewers like myself going back to old favorites such as Gilmore Girls or finding something newer like Virgin River, currently streaming its fifth season on Netflix.
With each season reaching Netflix’s top ten, Virgin River has capitalized on fan’s love of Robyn Carr’s 21-book-long series of the same name and our increasing impulse to find new shows that don’t require too much of our attention. Virgin River is precisely that as it lacks terror-inducing Jaws music and instead provides Hallmark-esque vibes with the added dash of danger from the illegal drug trade surrounding the town.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about Episodes 509 (Angel’s Peak) and 510 (Labor Day) of Netflix’s series Virgin River.
Part 1 of Virgin River‘s fifth season came to a close with eventful last two episodes. In typical Virgin River fashion, there were bombshell revelations — Lizzie is pregnant, baddie Calvin is the father of Charmaine’s twins, and the big one is the cliffhanger that set up the upcoming Christmas-themed two-episode Part 2 — Mel’s biological father is likely a man from Virgin River, identity unknown (for now).
That last shocker does stretch the limits of believability, even for a soapy romantic drama, as Mel originally landed in Virgin River, a place she said she had never heard of, after answering an ad.
In other developments, Jack takes Mel on a hike to Angel’s Peak to have a heart-to-heart after she had pulled away following her miscarriage. They get lost and rained on,...

All those who have seen the previous four seasons of this complicated yet interesting series must definitely want to know more about the possibilities of its Virgin River Season 5.
Mel and Jack are the two protagonists of the story and, their romance will always find a way to work. Although, Mel’s connection with the new hot doctor certainly is simmering. And the entire story takes a turn when this person enters their life.
However, if we observe the ending of the fourth season of the series then it looks like the pair may finally be getting their happy ending with a baby on the way and a positive future ahead (which is more than can be said for some of the other locals).
But if the series continues for the fifth season then there will be some more new twists and turns that will be added to the story of it.

For several years now, Brittany Bristow has been building her resume with a slew of made-for-tv movies for Hallmark.
She's always been in a supporting role, adding story for the leads by way of a friend or sister but always as some sort of confidant helping the main characters to become better people.
Brittany's perseverance has paid off, as she's been chosen to lead Hallmark's Holiday Date, one of the network's first movies to feature Hannukah as a significant part of it's holiday offerings. So, yes, Hanukah is now a part of #CountdowntoChristmas.
Matt Cohen also stars as an aspiring actor named Joel who agrees to take Brittany's character of Brooke home for Christmas after she's gotten dumped by a man she has previously shared with her family to be a "Mr. Christmas" type and possibly "the one."

Speaking of Ray Ralmer, Routh (34) and Teryl Rothery (51), the actress who portrayed Jean Loring last season on Arrow (Moira Queen's defense attorney) have a bit of an age gap, so their comic book relationship of husband and wife may not play out that way on the show says executive producer Marc Guggenheim to GreenArrowTV. It’s time for the trial of Moira Queen on Arrow.
We’re all waiting to learn what mysterious “other” secrets Moira has been hiding that would make her want to choose the death penalty over a long court case.
In Episode 2.7, The Count will return to Star City. Apparently, that break from Iron Heights prison, after the quake, freed more than the Doll Maker. For some reason, this reminds me of the Batman: Arkham City and Arkham Origins story line. Unfortunately for Diggle, he may be the first one to get contaminated with Vertigo’s vile toxin. Here’s a clip:

I never really got into MacGyver, but I got my Richard Dean Anderson fix on Stargate Sg-1.
Stargate, as many of you I’m sure remember, was a 1994 movie which circled around a gigantic ring made of unknown metal and covered in what is believed to be Egyptian hieroglyphs that is discovered buried in the sands of Giza, Egypt in during an archeological expedition in 1928. The purpose of the ring remained a mystery for sixty years, its hieroglyphs untranslatable. Finally a brilliant linguist and archaeologist specializing in Egyptology named Daniel Jackson (James Spader) is co-opted by the U.S. government and brought to Cheyenne Mountain (home of Norad) to decipher the scrawlings on the ring, which has been brought there for study and possible use by the military.

According to VancouverFilm.Net, British Columbia-born actress Teryl Rothery ("Hellcats", "Stargate") will play a long-time DC Comics' character, in a 3-4 episode story arc, introduced in "Arrow" Season 2:
Rothery will play 'Jean Loring', described as a savvy attorney who will do 'anything' for her clients and a longtime friend and legal counsel to 'Moira Queen', currently on trial for her role in the destruction of 'The Glades'.
DC Comics' Jean Loring was originally the love interest of tiny superhero 'The Atom', debuting in DC's "Showcase" #34 (September–October 1961), created by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Gil Kane.
Loring then appeared continually in minor roles until the 2004 storyline "Identity Crisis", in which she suffered a mental breakdown and murdered 'Sue Dibny', wife of the 'Elongated Man'.
This would later lead Loring to become the supervillain 'Eclipso'.

"Cedar Cove" celebrates small-town living, women aging gracefully and dressing well."The overall look we are trying to express is a smaller community, but with our various characters they still have a sense of style, so you don't have to look like a quirky little hick from a small town," says Lorraine Carson, costume designer for the Saturday Hallmark Channel series, to Zap2it.

Zap2it: How do you describe Olivia?
Andie MacDowell: She is the voice of reason in the town. She has a really good heart. She is close to her community and really cares for people in her community. She is following in her father's footsteps. She has been taught to care for people and be responsible. She is afraid to let her guard down sometimes. She is reserved unless she is with her best friend, Grace (played by Teryl Rothery), who is more crazy and fun and lets her be relaxed and fun. And her mother helps her too. She shot a scene the other day with Jack (Dylan Neal), when she was not reserved. There is a public side. She has an image she has to keep up.
Zap2it: Did you read Debbie Macomber's books to prepare for this or just for pleasure?

She is following in her father's footsteps. She has been taught to care for people and be responsible. She is afraid to let her guard down sometimes. She is reserved unless she is with her best friend, Grace (played by Teryl Rothery), who is more crazy and fun and lets her be relaxed and fun. And her mother helps her too. She shot a scene the other day with Jack (Dylan Neal), when she was not reserved. There is a public side. She has an image she has to keep up.
Zap2it: Did you read Debbie Macomber's books to prepare for this or just for pleasure?

TV can be painfully derivative, and when a show comes along that is not easily categorized, other than light drama, it's risky.
When that show is Hallmark Channel's first scripted series, it's even more of a chance. But "Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove," debuting with a two-hour pilot Saturday, July 20, looks to be as sure of a deal as anything could be.
Starring Andie MacDowell, the series fills a gap. It's a quiet drama, without dismemberments, supernatural forces or fantastic premises. For those who have had enough boorish behavior, this is a welcome respite.
"I like to think about it as a little bit of a modern version of Andy Griffith, and I'm Andy," MacDowell tells Zap2it. "I don't want to be agitated so much on television. I don't need to watch any more agitation."
There's a peaceful quality to the show. That quietude comes from MacDowell's character, Olivia Lockhart,...
