The man convicted for fatally shooting Nipsey Hussle has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
Eric R Holder Jr received his sentence on Wednesday (22 February) for killing the Grammy-award-nominated musician in 2019.
Holder was also convicted of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm for the gunfire that hit two other men at the scene.
Here is a recap of Nipsey Hussle’s career and the trial for his murder.

Nipsey Hussle was born Airmiess Joseph Asghedom in Los Angeles in 1985.

A man convicted of gunning down rapper Nipsey Hussle in 2019 is likely to get life in prison when he is sentenced Wednesday in a Los Angeles courtroom.
Jurors in July found Eric R. Holder Jr., 32, guilty of the first-degree murder of the 33-year-old Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist outside the clothing store Hussle founded, the Marathon, in the South Los Angeles neighborhood where both men grew up.
Holder was also convicted of two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter and two counts of assault with a firearm for gunfire that hit two other men at the scene who survived.

The sentencing has been delayed in part so defense attorney Aaron Jansen could move for Superior Court Judge H. Clay Jacke to reduce Holder’s conviction to manslaughter or second-degree murder, which the judge rejected in December.

Lucille Ball is very much back in the public eye due to the success of the acclaimed film "Being the Ricardos". Here's a blast from the past, provided by Shout! Factory- the complete Dean Martin Roasts program "honoring" Lucille Ball. The lineup of greats is almost surrealistic: Jack Benny, Dan Rowan, Don Rickles, Bob Hope, Ginger Rogers, Dick Martin, Totie Fields, Milton Berle, Henry Fonda, Nipsey Russell, Vivian Vance, Rich Little, Foster Brooks, Phyllis Diller, Gale Gordon, and, of course, Dino. This time capsule from 1975 is the epitome of what would now be called politically incorrect humor, but it thankfully preserves a period of time in which people could not only take a joke about themselves, but were honored to be the recipient of those pointed barbs. - Lee Pfeiffer...

In 1968, America was embroiled in protests over civil rights and the Vietnam War. In that tumultuous time, “The Tonight Show” host Johnny Carson turned over hosting duties for an entire week to actor and activist Harry Belafonte. His cast of guests included Martin Luther King Jr. and Bobby Kennedy, just months before they were assassinated, during a week that’s been mostly lost in American history. Thankfully it’s now being revisited in a new Peacock documentary, executive produced by MSNBC host Joy Reid and directed by award-winning filmmaker Yoruba Richen, aptly titled “The Sit-In: Harry Belafonte Hosts The Tonight Show.”
At the time, Carson’s pioneering late night variety show had become one of the country’s most influential platforms. So the move to have Belafonte take this mainstream institution and transform it into a multicultural and political experience, introducing white America to his world of art and activism,...

Conan O’Brien recently spoke with us about his Catholic upbringing, writing for The Simpsons and his 25 years in late night while spreading the word about Conan, the new half-hour version of his TBS talk show. During that conversation, O’Brien also answered a question about Donald Trump, who was a frequent guest on O’Brien’s show beginning in 1997 and through Trump’s years hosting The Apprentice on NBC — which was also O’Brien’s network home. Trump took part in bits like “Secrets” and talked about his dating life over the years.

Refresh for updates During a Megyn Kelly Today discussion this morning about offensive Halloween costumes and blackface during trick or treat season – and if the mental alarm bells weren’t already going off, they should have been – the host who once insisted Santa Claus is white dug herself a Halloween social media grave.
“What is racist?” Kelly asked her panel of guests Jenna Bush Hager, MSNBC’s Jacob Soboroff and Melissa Rivers. The quartet were discussing campus attempts to discourage “inappropriate and offensive costumes” during Halloween season when Kelly explained, “You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween.”
“Back when I was a kid, that was okay just as long as you were dressing as a character,” Kelly said.

Megyn Kelly sparked social-media backlash Monday in a discussion on her “Megyn Kelly Today” about Halloween celebrants wearing black or white face makeup.
Kelly wondered aloud during a conversation about universities putting pressure on students not to wear costumes that might be deemed offensive. “What is racist?” she asked a panel that included Jenna Bush Hager, Jacob Soboroff and Melissa Rivers. “You do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface for Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. Back when I was a kid, that was okay just as long as you were dressing as a character.”
Kelly suggested that some people who get in costume are simply trying to get into character, as in a case she cited the example of Luann deLesseps, who once generated debate by going as Diana Ross for Halloween. “There was a controversy on...

NBC is set to ease on down the road with its next live musical, with the network announcing Monday that it will stage an adaptation of "The Wiz" in December -- with a special assist.
NBC revealed that "The Wiz" will once again be produced by Craig Zadan and Neil Meron (the duo behind the network's previous live efforts, "Sound of Music Live!" and "Peter Pan Live!," and the past three Oscars telecasts). But this year, the network is pulling out all the stops for the broadcast, which will also feature a collaboration with acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil.
And the ambitious plans don't stop there: After the live staging airs on NBC in December, the show will then move to Broadway for the 2016-2017 season. Tony winner and Broadway veteran Harvey Fierstein ("Mrs. Doubtfire," "La Cage aux Folles," "Hairspray") will work on adapting the show's original book by William F. Brown,...

It's rare that you see the cast of the old game show "To Tell the Truth" awed by any particular contestant, but in a 1980 iteration of the series, all four panelists looked dazzled and flabbergasted by the presence of Rosa Parks. The civil rights pioneer appeared with two impostors and attempted to stump the panel. The whole clip is great, but Nipsey Russell's words about Parks are just spectacular. Kitty Carlisle is looking pretty divine herself. ...

50. Dancer in the Dark (2000)
Directed by Lars von Trier
Signature Song: “I’ve Seen It All” (http://youtu.be/d9zFt6M_GLo)
Who says people in a musical have to be able to sing? The list starts with a film directed by the director of Melancholia, Antichrist, and the recent Nymphomaniac films. Starring Björk, Dancer in the Dark takes place in the fantasy world of Selma, an immigrant from the Czeck Republic living in a blue-collar town in the United States. She lives on the property of a local police officer named Bill (David Morse) and his wife. She finds herself the object of a shy co-worker’s affection (Peter Stormare), but doesn’t entirely reciprocate, partly because she knows that she is slowly going blind. Terrified that her disease is hereditary and her son most certainly will get it, she works long hours at the factory,...

A whole mess of factors goes into what projects a director takes on. A young up-and-comer might be happy just to get his first directing credit, regardless of what it might actually be about. A director who's been around the block might pick up a project way outside of their wheelhouse just for the experience. And the promise of a couple bucks doesn't hurt, either.
In other words, sometimes you just can't pin a filmmaker down. Here are some rather odd and unexpected director-movie pairings.
1. Sidney Lumet, 'The Wiz' (1978)
Between "12 Angry Men," "Network," "Dog Day Afternoon" and "Serpico," it's fair to call the late Sidney Lumet an all-time great. But considering most of Lumet's career was dedicated to crime and drama, "The Wiz," a musical "The Wizard of Oz" adaptation set in Harlem (and, later, Oz), is a definite oddball in his canon. Starring such powerhouses of African-American culture as Michael Jackson,...

Well hello there, fellow inmates! I hope that you all enjoyed the break and have entered 2013 with a renewed spirit and appetite for the crazy - because American Horror Story: Asylum is back and dishing out extra helpings.
To recap where we left off: Alien babies, demonic nuns, killer Santa, Dr. Pepper. I think that about covers it.
We begin this week's episode with an advertisement for the new Kit Walker Blow-Up Doll:
Finally, Doctor Arden has produced something worthwhile in that lab of his!
No, seriously - Arden (James Cromwell) makes good on his word to bring Kit (Evan Peters) back from his medically-induced death. He stabs Kit in the heart with adrenaline, then slaps him back to life. Or as we call it in our house, "the Saturday Morning Special". Kit asks if the aliens came like they had hoped, and Arden lies, telling him that they didn't.

Vanity Fair Magazine has unveiled their cover photos for their upcoming All-Star Comedy issue. Filmmaker Judd Apatow got several of his hilariously talented friends and idols to contribute, write, and pose for the magazine. There are three covers that were done. The editor of the magazine Graydon Carter had this to say,
It can reasonably be said that the comedy industry is booming these days, in movies, on television, and onstage. And who better to oversee an entire issue on the subject than one of the great impresarios of the business? . . . Judd was a terrific collaborator, brimming with suggestions and infectious energy—precisely the sort of high-wattage, Hollywood-style enthusiasm that can alternately excite you and drive you a bit crazy.
In my opinion the comedy industry has always been booming! Everyone loves to laugh, and every generation has its group of comedic legends. These magazine covers represent only some of this generation's comedy giants.

I was feeling a little neglected having waited for what felt like an eternity for this new episode, but "A Night of Neglect" turned into an evening of ecstasy.
We were introduced to the Brainiacs and their clever ode to Nerdom handshake. With the cost of their trip to Detroit added to the Glee Club's fundraising goal, Will postured like the Nino Brown of salt water taffy. Not since Nipsey Russell tried to sell the last of the peanut brittle to buy new uniforms for the Central High Wildcats had I seen a more pathetic idea.
Luckily the notion of a benefit concert was born and with it an amazing display of the many talented members of New Directions.
Before the singing started though, we learned Brittany had a quirky knack for obscure trivia. She ripped through those Cat Diseases like Rosie Perez named foods that start with the letter...

Celebrity Bowling—that unabashedly silly but undeniably entertaining weekly TV show that ran for eight years in the 1970s (from 1971 though ’78) is coming to DVD From S’More Entertainment.
The Celebrity Bowling 3-dvd Collector’s Set will be available on June 14.
Hosted by Jed Allan (CSI: Miami), Celebrity Bowling featured a pair of two-celebrity teams competing on regulation size bowling lanes that were actually installed inside the show’s studio at L.A.’s Kttv Channel 5.
The rules of the game were known as “best ball”—each team member would take a shot on their own lane. If neither bowled a strike, then whoever rolled the worse shot would try to put up a spare on their partner’s lane. Winning teams garnered prizes (usually appliances, but occasionally even cars!) for audience members both present and sitting at home.

One of the weirder entertainment feuds, one even weirder than the famed Nipsey Russell-Herve Villechaize knife fight of 1976, has emerged in our midst.
A few days ago, Oscar winning director James Cameron got extra chatty with a Hollywood Reporter, er, reporter and let loose on anti-global warming zealots and Glenn Beck (and no, that last sentence wasn't meant to be redundant). It got so heated and ridiculous that it made me wish 'Celebrity Deathmatch' was still on the air and not in the claymation format.
Beck, of course, heard the comment in which Cameron claimed Beck had once referred to him as the "Antichrist". Beck dove into his archives, found the rather un-Christian reference he made towards the 'Avatar' director and post a full response to Mr. Cameron on his Wednesday show.
Of course, that's not the whole story.

Kiddie country sensation Taylor Swift is coming to town. Just for kicks I checked Stubhub to see how much people were willing to resell tickets to the sold out show. I nearly threw up my Twinkie when I saw quite a few seats priced at $l,200. That’s not a typo. They are expecting some parent to pay $1,2000 for their kid to see a twig with a blonde wig. Since the kid isn’t of driving age, that means the parent is willing to pay $2,400 to make their kid happy. While the seats were on the floor, they were nearly 50 rows back from the stage.
For that price, I expect to be close enough to the stage to know if Taylor Swift wears panties or a g-string. I want to be close enough to use qualify as her Ob-gyn. I...

In the wake of his untimely death on June 25, it's hard to remember a time when Michael Jackson was not in our lives. The world-famous singer — who in the 1980s shattered all notions of what pop stardom could be — had been a major star since he was 10 years old, and by the time he released what is still the best-selling album of original material of all time, 1982's Thriller, he was already a wily music-industry veteran.
Born Michael Joseph Jackson on August 29, 1958, into a musical family of less-than-modest means in the industrial Midwestern town of Gary, Indiana, Jackson began performing with his brothers professionally at the age of 5 in a group put together by his steelworker father, Joseph. It quickly...

A sad day indeed. Michael Jackson wore many hats over the course of his long career. He was an international superstar, and he leveraged that status to dip his toes into anything that interested him. In the world of film, Jackson enjoyed unparalleled access. He worked with luminaries, artists and auteurs who shaped the course of the medium as strongly as the pop star himself did in the music world.
Jackson was a pop cultural icon and his touch will forever be felt in all facets of entertainment. Here are just a few of the stars he hitched to in film during his long and storied career.

Michael Jackson's talent as an entertainer was arguably beyond comparison, yet his music was only the starting point for a career that spanned multiple mediums: film, television (including a Jackson 5 cartoon), video games, theme-park attractions and more. While his appearances in films were relatively few and far between, his magnetism translated easily to the big screen.
Jackson's first major film came in 1978, with director Sidney Lumet's "The Wiz." In the musical fantasy, adapted from L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard of Oz," Jackson starred as the Scarecrow alongside Diana Ross' Dorothy, Nipsey Russell's Tinman and Ted Ross' Lion. "The Wiz" is an urban fairy tale set in...

Move over Gene Rayburn, Charles Nelson Reilly and Brett Somers -- a new Match Game is coming to town! An updated version of the classic fill-in-the-blank game show is being prepared for the TBS network.
Match Game debuted back in 1962 and ran for seven years with genial Rayburn as host. A slightly different version of the game show started in 1973 with Rayburn returning as host. The revival wasn't very popular with viewers until the usually dull questions were replaced with those that suggested double-entendre humor.
While some star panelists changed week to week, regulars included outrageous Nelson Reilly, caustic Somers, and debonair Richard Dawson (Hogan's Heroes). Recurring panelists included Orson Bean (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman), Fannie Flagg, Vicki Lawrence (The Carol Burnett Show), Nipsey Russell, McLean Stevenson (M*A*S*H), and Betty White (The Mary Tyler Moore Show). This popular version ran until 1979 and is currently a mainstay of the Gsn schedule in reruns.
