Expect the line-up of Marvel's Avengers on-screen team to be quite different by the time the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War" saga is all over.
Speaking at the Wizard World New Orleans convention this weekend, the film's directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirm that some previous supporting characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be upgraded to key players. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Joe says:
"I want to see some storytelling from some of the secondary characters. We're focusing on that right now with Infinity War while we're breaking into those movies, is which characters can we pull to the forefront who potentially haven't had their own 'A' story arc to this point. I think you'll see that the supporting Avengers are going to become primary Avengers."
That also means some Avengers might just shuffle off the mortal coil in the battle against Thanos. Joe Russo continues:
"Everything is finite, right?...

"People will not be disappointed in the amount of characters in the movie," co-director Joe Russo recently teased about Avengers: Infinity War. And seriously, he's not messing around. We always knew the two-part Marvel movie was going to big. But I don't think anyone is prepared for just how big it's going to get. Speaking at Wizard World New Orleans, Russo revealed the cast of 'Infinity War' is going to be nothing short of massive. "We have so many characters we're dealing with. We're breaking ground on 'Avengers: Infinity War.' We have a board with 67 characters on it," he revealed. That makes sense given he's previously said the movie will unite the Marvel universe — but one has to wonder if these superhero movies are just getting too big for their own good.

The Russos were actually at several panels for Wizard World New Orleans so expect more news from the fan expo to make its way online in the coming days. In one of their smaller panels, the Russo touched on their desire to shine the spotlight on Avengers members in Infinity War who have yet to receive their own "A story arc". If true, it's likely that Infinity War won't be told through the eyes of any of The Avengers who have received their own standalone movie. Here's what Joe Russo stated. "Everything is finite, right? Nothing can last forever. It's cyclical. Some New Avengers in phase 4 are going to become prominent and then maybe some Avengers might not be around anymore. So, we'll see how all this plays out but you have to treat every character with respect. I think it's interesting that if you've seen four or five movies...

The Avengers movies have had bigger casts compared to most superhero outings, which makes sense given it.s a whole team of protagonists dealing with a threat. With the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War movies, however, things are being taken to the next level. This is a two-part event deals with an antagonist that.s been biding his time for years, making it Marvel.s biggest undertaking. So when the battle against Thanos finally unfolds in the near future, moviegoers are going to see upwards of 60 players in action. During a panel at Wizard World New Orleans (via ComicBookMovie), director Anthony Russo mistakenly referred Hayley Atwell.s Peggy Carter as "Sharon" (Sharon Carter, as we know, is a separate character played by Emily VanCamp). Defending his brother and partner, Joe Russo explained that it.s hard to keep track of everyone who.s involved with the Avengers: Infinity War movies. He...

Attending Wizard World New Orleans, Joe and Anthony Russo were joined on stage by Chris Evans, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie. When the fan Q&A portion of the panel began, one audience member asked if there was one particular scene that each cast member would like to film for their character. Grillo took the first shot at the question, stating"I'd like to kill Captain America," which drew cheers and laughs from the audience who know exactly what he's referencing from the comic book. However, bigger cheers erupted when Joe Russo added, "We may or may not have filmed that scene, though." Do you think the death of Captain America will actually happen in Civil War? Will Avengers: Infinity War feature Bucky Barnes picking up the red, white and blue shield and leading the charge? Unfortunately, we'll have to wait till May 6, 2016 for answers. ...
