Fox Business and Univision have been tapped to telecast the second Republican presidential debate, taking place Sept. 27 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, but the lingering question is whether front-runner Donald Trump will even show for the first event.
The first match up between the GOP contenders is set to take place on August 23 in Milwaukee and will air on Fox News. Trump has teased the prospect of holding some kind of alternative event, or commenting on his rivals from the sidelines, but he hasn’t 100% ruled out participating, his advisers have said.
Whether he participates may be the difference between a blockbuster event if he does, and an unusual and probably less watched debate if he does not. On the night that Trump was indicted for a third timne, Fox News’s Suzanne Scott and Jay Wallace dined with Trump at his Bedminster resort, according to The New York Times,...

Washington, Dec 15 (Ians) As layoffs deepen across industries, The Washington Post has announced to cut jobs amounting to a “single-digit percentage” from its 2,500-strong workforce.
The newspaper publisher Fred Ryan announced during a town-hall meeting with the employees that the media giant would eliminate some positions in 2023 and some of these positions would be from the newsroom.
The announcement comes amid a season of layoffs throughout the media industry and weeks after the paper said it will eliminate its stand-alone magazine, the newspaper said late on Wednesday.
The newspaper has shut its Sunday magazine and laid off 11 newsroom employees.
Ryan, however, said that they will add new jobs to offset the loss of positions that are “no longer serving readers”, and The Post’s total head count will not be reduced.

Joe Biden pushed back against criticism of his meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, telling reporters that he raised the murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi “at the top” of their meeting.
But Biden faced criticism of an image that preceded the meeting in Jeddah, when he gave a fist bump to the crown prince.
Fred Ryan, the publisher and CEO of the Post, called the fist bump “worse than a handshake” and “shameful.”
“It projected a level of intimacy and comfort that delivers to Mbs the unwarranted redemption he has been desperately seeking,” Ryan said.
In his remarks to reporters, Biden was asked about what Khashoggi’s fiance’s reaction to Biden’s meeting, in which she said that the “blood of Mbs’s next victim is on” Biden’s hands. Her tweet noted that Biden promised accountability for Khashoggi’s murder when he was running for president.

President Joe Biden said Friday the past week has been “heartbreaking” and the U.S. mission to evacuate Afghanistan amid chaos at the Kabul airport is “difficult” and “dangerous.” He promised that no U.S. citizen will be left behind and that the U.S and its allies will pressure the newly installed Taliban leadership on its treatment of women and girls.
In a media reset, Biden also expressed a stronger commitment to interpreters and other Afghans who had worked with the U.S. and are desperate to get out.
“We are going to do everything we can to provide safe evacuation for Afghan allies and partners and Afghans who might be targeted because of their association with the United States,” he insisted during a press conference.

The Justice Department under President Donald Trump obtained a gag order that kept top CNN executives from disclosing the government’s pursuit of reporter Barbara Starr email and other records as part of an apparent leak investigation.
According to CNN, the effort started in July of last year and was only revealed until Wednesday, when a federal judge unsealed parts of the case. CNN’s general counsel David Vigilante went on air to explain that he was unable to reveal details of the case even to Starr herself. She and reporters from The Washington Post and The New York Times were informed last month that the government had seized their records without their knowledge.
Vigilante described a protracted legal battle that ultimately resulted in the DOJ agreeing to a much narrower disclosure of records, after the tens of thousands originally sought over a span of two months in 2017.
