She was an accomplished tap dancer who performed in revues and nightclubs before being signed by 20th Century Fox. However, as a film actress, Geneva was assigned little more than bit parts for which she was paid $75 per week. In 1937, she became the only female 'dance director' employed in Hollywood at the time.
