Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams played step-siblings on the iconic TV series The Brady Bunch. But off-screen, the feeling between the two actors wasn’t exactly what you would expect between a brother and sister. The two had a long-simmering crush on each other that they finally acted on while filming on-location in Hawaii.
Maureen McCormick and Barry Williams had feelings for each other
In 1972, the cast of The Brady Bunch released their second studio album, Meet the Brady Bunch. Soon after, they headed out on a cross-country tour, playing at state fairs and theaters in San Bernardino, Savannah, Atlantic City, and elsewhere, McCormick recalled in her 2008 memoir, Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My Voice.
While on tour, the Brady kids spent a lot of time together in close quarters. “We changed clothes in makeshift rooms off to the side of the stage, boys and girls...

“The Brady Bunch” is back in the news after 50 years, thanks to anti-vaccination activists who are using a 1969 episode of the family sitcom to back up their case that, as diseases go, you “sure can’t beat the measles.”
And Marcia Brady herself, Maureen McCormick, is not happy about it.
The episode called “Is There a Doctor in the House?” finds the Brady children sick with the measles and staying home from school. “If you have to get sick, sure can’t beat the measles,” Marcia says. The kids are thrilled they didn’t have to take medicine, and Jan is especially glad she didn’t have to get a shot. In another part of the episode, Bobby tries to color Cindy’s measles spots green.

“There is no merit to this lawsuit,” said Warner Bros today in response to a copyright infringement lawsuit over a potential big screen Gilligan’s Island reboot. “Not only does the plaintiff have no rights in an unauthorized work based on the Gilligan property, the project he’s suing over never went forward.” The plaintiff in question is Travis Dunson, who hit the studio with a multi-claim complaint in federal court in Georgia earlier this week (read it here).
The seemingly creditless Dunson is alleging that WB lifted elements of his 1999 script Gilligan’s Island: 7 Stranded Castaways From The Hood for an adaption of the classic 60s CBS TV series. WB announced last December that they would be making a new Gilligan’s Island with Josh Gad. Warner Bros is charting a course for a feature film based on the series. It will be fashioned as a star vessel for Book Of Mormon‘s Josh Gad. Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez will write the script. Lloyd Schwartz, Ross Schwartz, Tracey Silvers and Cathy Silvers will be executive producers. They’re not saying what character Gad would play, but the title character seems a possibility, though he could conceivably play The Skipper. According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is planning to resuscitate Gilligan's Island. No, not as a television series, like the original with ran from 1964 to 1967. As for this new project, WB is hoping this new version of Gilligan's Island will be a launching pad for Josh Gad. Who you may know from The Rocker, or more recently Frozen. Proving that there's still at least one classic TV show that hasn't gotten a movie adaptation, Deadline is reporting that "Gilligan's Island" is now headed for the big screen, starring Josh Gad.
It's unclear what character Gad would play, though it will most likely be the titular castaway, or perhaps the Skipper. Gad is co-writing the project with Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez.
"Gilligan's Island" focused on a group of seven castaways who washed up on an island after their scenic boat tour ran into a storm that threw them off course. Vince Vaughn Launching Brady Bunch Continuation
Hey, it worked for Dallas! Vince Vaughn will star as a grown up Bobby Brady in CBS's continuation of the classic Brady Bunch franchise. Do not, I repeat, do not call this a reboot. The show exists in the same universe as the original series and has very similar themes, but this is most definitely a spin-off from the original show and not a reinvention of the franchise.
In the new Brady Bunch, Bobby finds himself in much the same circumstances as his parents with a few contemporary twists. The basis is still alive and kicking, Bobby has married a woman and they each have children of their own resulting in a mixed step brood. The differences are that they have a child between them as well, and this time the exes are recurring characters.

CBS is developing a new version of classic sitcom "The Brady Bunch" which will be co-developed and executive produced by Vince Vaughn. The multi-camera comedy series has scored a script order which Mike Mariano ("Raising Hope," "My Name Is Earl") is penning says Deadline.
The show is not so much a remake or reboot as it is a sequel. In this version the youngest of the original Brady kids, Bobby Brady, is now a grown up divorcee with kids of his own. He then remarries a woman who also has her own kids.
They also have a child together, while their ex-spouses are still part of their lives - the intention being to "reflect the evolution of family dynamics" in the interim since the original.
Mariano, Vaughn, Lloyd Schwartz, Victoria Vaughn and Peter Billingsley will all executive produce. CBS TV Studios, who produce "Hawaii Five-0" for the network, will also produce this.

One of the best-loved sitcoms in TV history is being prepped for a 21st-century update. Are you ready for a new "Brady Bunch"?
CBS and Vince Vaughn hope so. Vaughn and Lloyd Schwartz, the son of "Brady Bunch" creator Sherwood Schwartz, are executive producing a reboot/sequel to the 1969-74 series for the network, Deadline reports. Mike Mariano ("Raising Hope," "My Name Is Earl") will write the pilot script and also serve as an exec producer.
The new series would focus on Bobby Brady (originally played by Mike Lookinland), who was 8 years old when the show debuted and, if the show follows the original's continuity, would be in his early 50s now. Like his dad Mike, he's on his second marriage (he's divorced rather than widowed, though) and is with a woman who has children of her own from a previous marriage.

Sherwood Schwartz, who created two of the most popular sitcoms of the '60s and '70s, Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch, died Tuesday in Los Angeles of natural causes, surrounded by his family, a family member announced. He was 94. Not only did Schwartz send the passengers and crew of the Minnow on a three-hour tour, one that lasted from 1964 to 1967 (and forever after in reruns), but he also wrote the Gilligan's theme song. He did the same for the 1969-74 Brady Bunch, about a widow and a widower with a lot of kids - and a sagacious housekeeper.

Nearly 45 years ago, Sherwood Schwartz (creator of Gilligan's Island) read an article in the Los Angeles Times about the rise in the number of blended families. This led him to create The Brady Bunch, a little sitcom that has gone on to become one of the most beloved and successful shows in television history.
Schwartz and his son Lloyd (who was a producer on the series) have now written a book about their experiences on The Brady Bunch and the various spin-offs that followed. It's called Brady, Brady, Brady: The Complete Story of The Brady Bunch as Told by the Father/Son Team Who Really Know.
Lloyd Schwartz and castmembers Christopher Knight, Mike Lookinland, and Susan Olsen recently visited Good Morning America to promote the book. They talked about making the show, backstage hijinks, and even answered viewer questions.

In an era where things like Monopoly, Battleship, and Stretch Armstrong are all getting turned into big-time movie properties, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that Warner Bros. is planning a movie adaptation of the 60’s sitcom Gilligan’s Island.
The show, which surrounded the crash of the S.S. Minnow, leaving 7 strangers deserted on an island, went on for 98 episodes, including some big specials with guest stars like The Harlem Globetrotters. According to Variety, the film is set to be a major reboot, with some of the original creative team helping out.
Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are onboard to produce for Atlas, with Brad Copeland penning the screenplay. Original show producer Sherwood Schwartz is aboard to exec produce along with son Lloyd Schwartz.
Plans are for a contempo take on the well-known premise and characters, with the studio and the Schwartzes’ blessing Copeland’s initial idea for the screenplay.

Warner Bros. and Atlas Entertainment will update the CBS 1960's TV comedy series "Gilligan's Island" as a big screen feature.
The original 98 episodes of "Gilligan's Island" created by Sherwood Schwartz, starred actor Bob Denver ("Dobie Gillis"), Alan Hale, Jim Backus and Tina Louise, following the 'wacky misadventures' of two crew members, a millionaire couple, a professor, a movie star and a girl-next-door, on an uncharted, uninhabited island in the Pacific.
Schwartz also composed the theme, "The Ballad of Gilligan's Isle", that opened each show:
"...Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
a tale of a fateful trip.
That started from this tropic port,
aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man,
the skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set sail that day,
for a three hour tour.
a three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough,
the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew,...

In late-2008, we told you that Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd Schwartz had signed a deal to bring Gilligan's Island to the big screen. But we haven't really heard anything about the big screen adaptation for over a year, until now. Variety reports that Warner Bros is developing the feature film with Atlas Entertainment. Charles Roven and Richard Suckle are on board to produce, and screenwriter Brad Copeland has been hired to write the screenplay. Copeland has a background in television, breaking in as a staff writer on News Radio, and moving on to Arrested Development, Grounded For Life and My Name is Earl. Not a bad resume, until you get to his lone film credit -- Wild Hogs... ugh. He also wrote the upcoming Yogi Bear film, and is penning the Flight of the Navigator remake. Roven produced Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Get Smart, and The International.

So, surprise, surprise, there's a remake of "Gilligan's Island" in the works. However, creator Sherwood Schwartz, and his son Lloyd Schwartz recently spoke to "TV Guide" and mentioned that they'd like none other than lovable geek Michael Cera to play the bumbling, red shirt and white hat wearing Gilligan. And if that wasn't surprising enough, they also want bootylicious pop empress Beyonce Knowles to play movie star Ginger. While speaking with "TV Guide" during...

Sherwood Schwartz and his son Lloyd Schwartz have signed a deal to bring Gilligan’s Island to the big screen. I loved Gilligan’s Island as a kid, and am not against the idea of a re-imagining of the series… But it seems to me that Lost is our generation’s version of the 1960’s television series, and anything closer to the source material would just be too silly (I’m imagining something like The Flintstones movie… ewww).
Schwartz broke the news at the Beverly Hills induction ceremony of Television Academy’s Hall of Fame on December 9th, where he told TV Guide that he wants Michael Cera to play Gilligan and Beyonce Knowles to play Ginger. It just seems like a bad idea. But if they could sucessfully update the series for the big screen, Cera might be perfect for the role of Gilligan. But I’m pretty sure...
