I told him I was planning to direct a film that would include a dramatization of his famous "Chinese Room" thought experiment, which is sort of a pessimistic cousin to the Turing Test. I said I was hoping he would grant me permission to do so. The Metal Box is another film that will play at the Newport Film Festival beginning April 27th. The first trailer shows surreal moments as actress Leah Gibson (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), playing Anna, is hidden behind a metallic contraption. The film seems dreamlike, with most of the primary shots set in a wide, open, barren desert.
