Luisa Sermol is a classically trained actress and teacher who has been part of the Portland Theater community for over two decades. She is a graduate of the Julliard School of Drama, and holds a Masters in Education from Lewis and Clark College and a BA in English Literature from Portland State University. While at Juilliard, Luisa had the privilege of studying acting with John Stix, Michael Langham, Eve Shapiro and Michael Kahn. Additional studies include the American Contemporary Theater (with Anna DeVeare Smith) H.B. Studios (with Anne Jackson), Scott Kelman and PSU. Voice and diction teachers have included Nancy Lane, Robert Neff Williams, Elizabeth Smith, Brooks Baldwin, Deborah Hecht and Catherine Fitzmaurice. She is a member Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors' Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and has been a private acting coach for the past ten years specializing in preparation for graduate school theater program auditions. Her teaching experience includes voice work, acting, and/or mask work with Portland Community College, Lewis and Clark College, Reed College, University of Washington, Vancouver and Tacoma, University of California, Santa Cruz, California State College-Foothill College, Oregon Council for Teacher of English, The Haven Project, SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research), Tygres Heart Shakespeare Theater, Artists Repertory Theater Actors-To-Go, Rosemont Adolescent Treatment Facility, Open Meadow School, Multnomah County Juvenile Court System, and Portland Center Stage Outreach. She has also served as judge for both the Oregon State Thespian Competition and the English Speaking Union's annual Shakespeare Competition. Her acting credits include Terry in Sideman (Drammy award-outstanding performance) for Artists Repertory Theater; All nine Iraqi women in Heather Raffo's 9 Parts of Desire for Coho/Cygnet (Drammy award-outstanding performance); Josie in Moon for the Misbegotten for Coho; Bloody Poetry (Drammy award winner-outstanding performance) for Cygnet Theater; Ashes to Ashes for Profile Theater; No Way to Treat a Lady for Broadway Rose, Olivia in Twelfth Night and Kate in Taming of the Shrew for Tygres Heart Shakespeare Co.; Helena in Midsummer Nights' Dream for Portland Center Stage; and many others; her film and television work includes Leverage, Personals, Zero Effect, and the animated short, Insect Poetry.
