Ashley Judd wanted to get back into the acting grind. The actress and political activist had been working off and on for the past several years, with key supporting roles in the Divergent trilogy and the Twin Peaks revival, but she had desires to return in front of the camera in a more significant way. Within three weeks of Judd articulating her wish, Berlin Station came calling.
“I have a really diverse life and I started to have a hankering to work,” the 49-year-old actress and political activist told Et during a recent sit-down in Beverly Hills, California. “My team came to me and said, ‘There’s this amazing show called Berlin Station. It’s a very strong ensemble cast. It films in Germany. The writing is superb. And they want you to play the boss.’” (Get an early first look at Judd's debut above.)

Berlin Station is getting downright steamy this week. Our exclusive clip sees Steven Frost (Richard Jenkins), the hardened veteran of the Cold War who serves as the CIA’s Chief of the Berlin Station, have a Turkish Bath meeting to make a deal with Hans Richter (Bernhard Schütz). As the clip starts, Hans is already in his sweaty groove, sitting at the edge of the bath as Frost approaches. Having come closer to proving that Hector is in fact “Thomas Shaw”, Frost makes a deal to give up Shaw and hand him over to Hans in exchange for protection. The deal...read more...

In this exclusive clip from Episode 3 of “Berlin Station,” what seems like a typical night out in Berlin, complete with some spy-to-spy male bonding at a drag bar, quickly turns into an orchestrated double cross. While Daniel (Richard Armitage) is distracted by a lap-dancing drag queen, Hector (Rhys Ifans) swipes his phone and plants it with a bug.
With a not so subtle bit of foreshadowing, the clip opens with a singer in drag belting out (in German), “Lies, lies, lies, lies, lies, lies — I’m sick and tired of lies from you.”

At this point, it’s a given that the stories being told on television have begun to equal or surpass the choices one can get at the movie theater, and this weekend, the Epix Network are finally getting into the game with their first two Epix Original Series, including Berlin Station, an espionage thriller with an all-star cast.
It stars Richard Armitage (The Hobbit) as Daniel Miller, a CIA agent called to work undercover out of the Berlin office, tasked to find a leak from a whistleblower known as “Thomas Shaw” along with his long-time friend and colleague, Hector DeJean (Rhys Ifans). They work under the CIA’s Berlin Chief of Station Steven Frost (Richard Jenkins) and his administrator Valerie Edwards, played by Michelle Forbes (The Killing, True Blood).

Spy dramas are a delicate balance of tactical thinking and explosive action, with the latter typically going down far less often than the former. Even more action-heavy espionage tales — your “Homelands,” your James Bonds — light a fuse with their lengthy scenes of stalking, talking and traditional spy-craft. Many also incorporate varying degrees of sensuality — your “Americans,” your “Night Managers” — as the mentally strenuous life of a spy can lead to physically exhausting nighttime excursions. The best of the genre usually links the two together: The thrill of the chase and satisfaction of success can be found on the streets and in the sheets.

Is it any wonder that Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon would turn to Styx for inspiration? “Tonight Show” host Fallon and “This Is 40” star Rudd slapped on the jumpsuits and period wigs to pay twisted homage to Tommy Shaw, Dennis DeYoung and company with a reenactment of the group’s 1981 music video for “Too Much Time on My Hands.” Rudd and Fallon do a masterful job of capturing the magic, re-creating every dramatic hand gesture, over-the-top facial expression and theatrical strum of a ringing guitar chord. Iconic music videos have provided The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a comedic goldmine as the host has previously reimagined Lionel Richie's "Hello" and painstakingly recreated Extreme's "More Than Words." On Friday's episode, after Fallon and guest Paul Rudd casually mentioned they were in Styx together, the duo teamed up for a shot-for-shot remake of Styx's 1981 music video for "Too Much Time on My Hands."

Bud Prager, a longtime label executive and manager who fostered the rock bands Mountain, Foreigner and Damn Yankees, died Dec. 22 of esophageal cancer at his home in Montauk, N.Y. He was 79.
In the 1960s, the native New Yorker formed independent label Windfall Records with Felix Pappalardi, who produced the three Cream records. The record company grew into Windfall Music Enterprises, which included artist management, publishing, production and recording divisions.
Pappalardi and Prager soon brought together the players for Mountain; the band gained popularity after an appearance at Woodstock in 1969 and the single"Mississippi Queen" from its debut album the following year.
After Mountain disbanded, Prager brought together guitarist Leslie West and drummer Corky Laing of Mountain and Cream bassist Jack Bruce to form "supergroup" West, Bruce & Laing in 1972. They lasted two albums.
In 1976, Prager began a 17-year management affiliation with Foreigner. After repeatedly being turned down by all the major labels,...
