Ben Stiller is assuring “Severance” fans that Season 2 is still on its way, more than two years since the Apple TV+ series rolled out its acclaimed first season.
Stiller responded to show super-fan Sza on Twitter, after the singer-songwriter called out the series director and executive producer.
“Was trying to be polite but I really need a new season of ‘Severance’ right the fuck now,” Grammy winner Sza tweeted (via Complex).
Stiller replied, “Ok ok got it,” to which Sza clarified, “Omg please accept my humble apology lmao whenever ur ready is fine. Just dying of thirst it’s the best show ever! Ur a madman. Thank U mr stiller king sir!”
In later tweets, Sza even apologized and quote tweeted a fan who said she should understand how it feels now whenever someone asks her when she’s going to drop her next album.

Channing Tatum takes on the role of a tech billionaire who lures people to his private island in the trailer for Blink Twice, Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut.
The lengthy look at the film begins with Tatum’s Slater King announcing amusingly that everyone’s dead and then backtracking to start at the beginning. In the flashback, he introduces his posse of friends to Naomi Ackie’s Frida before inviting her and her friend Jess, portrayed by Alia Shawkat, to his private island.
“Did we just jet off to a billionaire’s island with a bunch of strangers?” Jess asks Frida, who replies, “No, he’s not a stranger. He’s Slater King.”
Over the course of the trailer, the ladies relish in the luxuries of Slater King’s life, like champagne and amazing food, while Jess jokes that there will be human sacrifice. As more time goes by, the...

In what will surely come as a huge shock to the general public and cause no small number of monocles to pop out, Amazon MGM Studios has elected to retitle Zoë Kravitz's feature directing debut, which was previously going under the not-at-all provocative moniker "Pussy Island." Kravitz's film will instead be released as "Blink Twice," which for me conjures memories of David Tennant's 10th Doctor desperately warning Carey Mulligan not to blink around the Weeping Angels in the classic modern "Doctor Who" episode "Blink."
That association isn't entirely inappropriate, either. "Blink Twice," like "Blink," is a potpourri of horror, mystery-thriller, and humor with an English actor at its core. In this case, it's Naomi Ackie of "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," "Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and "Master of None" season 3 fame starring as a young woman who accompanies a tech billionaire -- played by Kravitz's current real-life significant other,...

By now, movies should surely have taught us all that going to remote tropical paradises with mysterious billionaires should be right up there on the travel danger list with, say, flying Ryanair. Yet still people keep accepting those invitations. And we suppose when the person doing the asking is Channing Tatum in full Chanrisma mode, it's hard to turn it down, but Naomi Ackie finds that out to her cost in the first trailer for Blink Twice, which you can find below…
With Zoë Kravitz making her directorial debut here, the film finds Ackie as cocktail waitress Frida, who meets tech billionaire Slater King (Tatum). There's an instant connection and soon he's whisking her and her best pal Jess (Alia Shawkat) away to his private island to party with his loopy trustafarian friends.
Initially, it all seems wonderful — sun soaked days, party-filled nights. But then strange things start to happen.

It helps to have friends. Look no further than the first trailer for Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice, which boasts a stronger ensemble than your average directing debut: Channing Tatum, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Alia Shawkat, Christian Slater, Geena Davis, and a last-second appearance from Kyle MacLachlan. The cast is led by Naomi Ackie, and ahead of an August 23 release there’s a first, LCD Soundsystem-punctuated trailer that suggests she did well hiring Adam Newport-Berra.

Originally titled “Pussy Island,” the movie follows Frida (Naomi Ackie) and Jess (Alia Shawkat) as they are charmed by tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) and lured to his private island for a weekend getaway. What starts as a steamy vacation soon devolves into a reality-bending nightmare that the women soon learn they must escape if they want to live.

"Are you having a good time?" Amazon MGM Studios has revealed the first official trailer for Blink Twice, a mystery thriller marking the feature directorial debut of actress Zoë Kravitz. She's co-writing & directing in collaboration with another writer from the "High Fidelity" series she starred on recently. It's opening in theaters in August. "This summer, make some memories." Naomi Ackie stars as Frida is a young waitress in Los Angeles who has her eye on tech entrepreneur Slater King. On a dream vacation to his private island, strange things start to happen. Frida will have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out alive. Uh oh... Co-starring Channing Tatum as Slater, along with Christian Slater, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Kyle MacLachlan, Haley Joel Osment, Geena Davis, and Alia Shawkat. At first glance, this reminds me of Don't Worry Darling with many similarities, but it also seems like...

Yet, while on the trip, strange things start to happen and Frida begins to question her reality.

It’s always fascinating when a movie with a top star, and directed by another star, goes as far under the radar as Steve Buscemi‘s “The Listener,” starring Tessa Thompson, has.
But in the case of this particularly gentle movie — available on VOD now for $6.99 — maybe that’s part of its DNA. Like the mental health helpline operator Thompson plays, this is a movie that’s there if you need it: Quiet, thoughtful, and totally shunning the kind of splashiness that most movies are thought to require these days to stand out.
“The Listener” premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2022, where it was the closing night film of the Venice Days sidebar. On April 13, it was the closing night film of the Sarasota Film Festival, out of competition — in this over 18-month festival journey, it’s also made stops at the festivals in Vienna, Thessaloniki, Stockholm, The Hague,...

There isn’t much dialogue in Anthony Chen’s 2023 drama film, Drift. For most of its runtime, it remains extremely quiet—so much so that it tends to get on your nerves to some extent. The big reveal in the end is an absolute gut punch, which practically elevates the narrative. Yet, so many things remain half-baked here, which is not exactly a good sign. There’s nothing wrong with not revealing too much information and letting the audience connect the dots, but the amount of information this film withholds from us is quite frustrating and only leaves us confused. One might argue that Drift is more of a character study of Cynthia Erivo’s Jacqueline than a film focused on finding out what really happened to her, but that doesn’t really justify the really bland narrative that mostly depends on the performance of Erivo and a spirited Alia Shawkat.

Cynthia Erivo in Drift
Singaporean director Anthony Chen’s fourth feature, Drift, continues his interest in the archetypal ‘outsider.’ The story centres on Jacqueline (Cynthia Erivo), a young refugee who arrives on a Greek island. She’s trying not only to survive her present but to confront her past. When she strikes up an unexpected friendship with tour-guide Callie (Alia Shawkat), the pair help one another look to the future.
In conversation with Eye For Film, Chen discussed the rejuvenating presence of cinema, his decision to take a leap of faith, and being open to divine intervention.
Drift
Paul Risker: Why film as a means of creative expression? Was there an inspirational or defining moment?
Anthony Chen: All I know is cinema is so connected to my life that I can't see myself doing anything else. Every time I'm feeling down, every time I'm struggling, or I've lost faith in what I do,...

“Severance” was one of the breakout TV shows of 2022. The Apple TV+ thriller appeared on most critics’ top 10 lists and was nominated for 14 Emmys, including Best Drama Series, and won two, for main title design and music composition. Its cliffhanger ending left fans eager to find out what happens next.
But Season 2 is taking a long time. There have been reports of production complications that slowed down the pace of work, and then the strikes caused delays.
Season 2 is currently filming, and no premiere date has been set. However, during a recent appearance on Roommates – a basketball podcast hosted by New York Knicks players Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart – “Severance” executive producer and director Ben Stiller gave a production update.

I first reviewed Green Room back in 2017 for my blog Wight Blood and gave it a score of 9/10. I don’t think I have watched it since so with this Second Sight 4k/Blu-ray release, I had the opportunity to see if it was just as good on second viewing.
The movie follows a punk band as they attempt to tour and book a last-minute gig at a neo-nazi bar with the promise of some decent money. They play the gig and attempt to leave as quickly as possible but after they witness something they shouldn’t have, things turn nasty and they get stuck in the green room with nowhere to go.

Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier talks to us about the making of the 2015 survival thriller Green Room, which is getting a new disc release this month.
In October 2014, writer-director Jeremy Saulnier had a bit of a problem. Green Room, the follow-up to his micro-budget thriller, Blue Ruin, was nearing the start of shooting, but he still hadn’t managed to cast the role of Darcy – a club owner and leader of a group of rural Neo-Nazis. Most worryingly, as sets for the film were being built, Green Room’s financiers had threatened to withdraw funding if Saulnier couldn’t find a ‘name’ actor.
Fortunately for Saulnier, the script had been sent out to the legendary Patrick Stewart, and despite – or perhaps because of – the less-than-appealing nature of the Darcy character, he agreed to star at the last minute. “He kind of saved the movie,” Saulnier tells us almost a decade on.

“The Outrun,” the adaptation of Amy Liptrot’s deeply raw and lyrical 2016 memoir about addiction, recovery and nature, premiered in Sundance this year to stellar reviews, with many awards prophets already suggesting that the film could take Saoirse Ronan — who stars in and produces the film — back to the Oscars in 2025.
For producer Sarah Brocklehurst, the Sundance premiere also marked something of an enjoyable full circle, landing almost five years to the day after the Sundance 2019 debut of “Animals.” The film, which screens at the Berlin Film Festival, also marks the first feature from her Brock Media banner.

Do you want the good news or the bad news? We’ll go with the bad news first, to tee up the good: Season 2 of Severance isn’t ready yet. Apple TV+’s astonishingly good sci-fi drama – about office workers who have no idea what their jobs actually entail, their memories wiped every time they enter and leave the Lumon building – proved instantly compelling across its first season, ending in one hell of a cliffhanger back in April 2022. And nearly two years later, its follow-up season still isn’t finished, further delayed by the strikes in Hollywood during 2023. But here’s the good news: Season 2 is officially back in production, and racing to the finish line.
Lead actor Adam Scott shared a black-and-white snap on his Instagram showing his character Mark back in the minimalist Lumon offices, breaking into a sprint – and it came with a welcome caption: “Lovely being back at the office.

Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus, and Christopher Walken have all returned for the new season, with a few new additions as well.

Severance is “Back to work.” Director and executive producer Ben Stiller took to Instagram this morning to confirm that the Apple TV+ drama series had returned to production after a months-long delay due to the Hollywood strikes.
Stiller’s Instagram post, captioned “Back to work,” features a black-and-white photo of star Adam Scott running through what appears to be a hallway at Lumon Industries.
Severance had paused production on Season 2 in May when the WGA went on strike, which was then followed by the SAG-AFTRA walkout. With both strikes long resolved, production is now back on course.

Zoe previously explained how the title was intentional.

Amazon MGM has announced (via Deadline) that they will be giving the thriller Pussy Island a global theatrical release on August 23rd – but, to the shock and surprise of no one, they’re not actually going to be releasing the film under the title Pussy Island. The feature directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz (who played Catwoman in The Batman), the thriller is now going by the title Blink Twice. By giving the film a more public-friendly title, they’ve just saved some members of the public from having to protest the fact that a movie called Pussy Island is showing at their local theatre.
Written by Kravitz and E.T. Feigenbaum, the film will follow Frida, a young, clever, Los Angeles cocktail waitress who has her eyes set on the prize: philanthropist and tech mogul Slater King. When she skillfully maneuvers her way into King’s inner circle and ultimately an...

Turns out Zoë Kravitz did, in fact, change the name of her provocative “Pussy Island.” Kravitz’s feature directorial debut, which she co-wrote with “High Fidelity” scribe E.T. Feigenbaum, will receive a theatrical release from Amazon MGM Studios on August 23 as the newly-titled “Blink Twice.”
Kravitz previously told The Wall Street Journal Magazine that she would not change the name of the feature after writing it in 2017 and later updating the script “a million times” as the #MeToo movement made her rethink the premise.
“Blink Twice” follows tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum), who invites cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) on a dream vacation to his private island. Yet, while on the trip, strange things start to happen and Frida begins to question her reality.
Alia Shawkat, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan, and Geena Davis round out the cast. “Blink Twice” is produced by writer/director Kravitz,...

When we first reported on the directorial debut of Zoë Kravitz (The Batman) the project was titled Pussy Island, but we’ve learned this week that the thriller is now titled Blink Twice.
Deadline brings us this latest update today, reporting that Kravitz’s Blink Twice – Pussy Island was the better title, but I digress – will be released by Amazon MGM Studios on August 23.
It’s interesting to note that the film will be released in theaters, rather than debuting on Prime Video. Whereas Doug Liman’s Road House, also from MGM, is going direct to Prime.
Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie star in the MGM thriller.
In Blink Twice, “Tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, and sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild...

More than two dozen prominent names from the acting world — including Susan Sarandon, Cynthia Nixon, The Crown actors Khalid Abdalla and Tobias Menzies, and Game of Thrones stars Charles Dance, Carice van Houten and Lena Headey — have contributed to a series of videos supporting South Africa’s historic case charging Israel with genocide at the International Court of Justice in the Hague.
The video series is published by the Palestine Festival of Literature, a British-based cultural association committed to “the creation of language and ideas for combating colonialism in the 21st century.” The video shows the actors reading key sections of South Africa’s 84-page dossier, which argues Israel is guilty of violating the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide in its actions in its war in Gaza against the terrorist group Hamas.

A production assistant who worked on the Max original series “Search Party” has accused showrunner Charles Rogers of drugging and sexually assaulting him in 2020.
A past investigation by the network into the alleged assault cleared Rogers, but Evan Schwartz said he was “gaslit” into “exonerating” the writer-producer in social media posts shared on Saturday.
“The facts speak for themselves as evidenced by this individual’s decision to retract his own statement amid a thorough, third-party investigation which found no wrongdoing. Charles unequivocally denies this claim regarding a mutually consensual relationship,” an individual close to Rogers said in a statement to TheWrap.
This is a selfie Charles Rogers took on my phone the morning after sexually assaulting me in 2020. I was his driver on the shoot for Search Party. After he took this selfie he joked, “I have a lawyer in case someone me too’s me”. I don’t remember falling asleep that night.
