Move over, Milo Ventimiglia!
Mandy Moore introduced the world to the original Milo in her life by sharing an adorable flashback photo on Friday. In the vintage snap, a young Moore is pictured with a huge grin on her face, lying on the ground and cuddling an orange cat.
"Me and the first Milo in my life," she captioned the pic, noting that the furry feline was "named after the movie Milo and Otis, duh." Moore hashtagged the post with "#CatsForLife" for good measure.

At Texas Frightmare Weekend 2012, I stumbled across a little movie called Jacob (review here), and it completely blew me away. For a completely independent picture made for extremely little money, it packed an emotional punch that few mainstream horror films can pull off.
Truth be told, I've paid to see movies in the theater that display less skill and power than Jacob, and that's a damn shame, but finally someone was wise enough to pick up this gem for distribution, and as of April 16th, Jacob is out on DVD and Blu-ray for your viewing pleasure courtesy of Kino Lorber's Horizon Movies.
Jacob had a return performance at this year's Texas Frightmare Weekend to celebrate its release, and I sat down with main man Larry Carrell to chat about writing, directing, and acting in the film.
Mr. Dark: Give us the background on yourself, and what you've done so far.

Two longtime, famous-name pals are back together. After a two-year professional break to spend more time with his family, Tobey Maguire returns to the big screen by teaming up with his longtime pal Leonardo DiCaprio for director Baz Luhrmann's new 3D adaptation of novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 classic, The Great Gatsby, opening May 10. "We are like any other buddies. There's a lot of laughing and chatting between us," Maguire told People at the film's New York City premiere on Wednesday. "We enjoy doing a lot of things we have in common, like basketball. We like to play and talk about basketball.

Controversial films! We can’t get enough of them. In my last instalment of Controversial Movies that are actually good, there were several glaring omissions – it is hard to fit every good controversial movie into a ten space slot. I also did a spot of false advertising by using Ichi the Killer as my avatar but not discussing the film.
Now I can find you plenty of controversial films. I could write lists of them for you every day. But as to whether they would be good films, alas, I cannot assure you that. I would have a hard time arguing the artistic merits of the Wizard of Gore (the original H G Lewis version) even though I love that film. You would all be sitting there typing back “No Clare this film has no artistic merit whatsoever”. So I can’t palm H G Lewis onto you but I...

Bill Moseley is one hell of a busy guy. In the last twelve months alone he's performed in The Devil's Carnival, the upcoming sequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D, two episodes of FEARnet's popular network series "Holliston" and a handful of other genre films as well.
Moseley is now keeping himself busy doing the publicity rounds for two recent releases- The Tortured, which recently hit VOD platforms everywhere via IFC Films, and Exit Humanity, which also recently debuted on DVD courtesy of Bloody Disgusting Selects.
Dread Central had the opportunity to chat with Moseley about both The Tortured (review) and Exit Humanity (review) - two wildly different films. In the first the actor portrays child killer John Kozlowski, who ends up at the mercy of the parents after a prison break goes awry and they capture him for their own twisted kind of revenge. In the latter Moseley plays the dastardly General Williams,...

What is Movie News After Dark? It’s a nightly movie news column desperate in its search for the insanely cool links of the day. It will also take movie related news, things about Community and Doctor Who, as well as, on occasion, updates on The Dark Knight Rises. Although after last night’s entry, it’s not sure there is any Tdkr news left to report. We begin tonight with some incredibly cool animated work from an artist named Otis Frampton. On his Deviant Art page, found via Popped Culture, he envisions what a Battlestar Galactica animated series would look like. I would watch this show, and not just because I’m a die hard BSG fan, either. The Smoking Jacket presents us with Stuff You Should Know: Zombies, an article about zombies and all the things they do. In the beginning, it was all about voodoo, if you can believe such a thing. Over...

We continue our journey through a month of frightening, bloody and violent films. For more, check out our 31 Days of Horror homepage. Synopsis: After a young girl is brutally attacked, Postmaster Otis P. Hazelrigg does what any good Postmaster would do – acts as judge, jury, and executioner when he organizes a lynch mob (shoot mob?) to exact justice on the suspected killer: the young girl’s mentally retarded friend, Bubba Ritter. Founding him hidden inside a scarecrow the mob extracts their ‘justice,’ only to learn horror rule number 37: never kill an innocent handicapped man, because vengeance and death soon follow. Killer Scene While our Scarecrow friend spends most of the film playing hide and seek, we’re rewarded at the end when our Postmaster finally gets justice delivered via stab-mail, and the creepy, lifeless eyes of the masked spirit get all spooky on us. The scene involves vengeance, ghost operated machinery, a...

This Week in DVD & Blu-ray is a column that compiles all the latest info regarding new DVD and Blu-ray releases, sales, and exclusive deals from stores including Target, Best Buy and Fry’s. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed The Disappearance of Alice Creed opens with two men prepping for what we can only assume—given the title of the film (despite any revelations about its meaning that may come later)—is a kidnapping. We assume correctly. They pull a girl into a van, tie her to a bed, strip her of all her clothes, snap photos of her, and put new clothes on her. All of this takes places without any dialogue, or any understanding of who these people are, how they know each other, or what their motivations are. The less you know about what happens from that point forward, the better. This is the sort of assured, smartly...

Director/musician Rob Zombie (Halloween) confirmed that the characters from his 2003 film "House of 1,000 Corpses" will appear in this year's Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights. "When you think about it, it's pretty cool and ironic since that's the studio that originally made the movie, but never released it [because they thought it was too disturbing]. And now we're back in the park doing this attraction," Zombie told Noisecreep. "But it's great and they're putting a lot of work into it, so it's going to be really awesome." The 2010 Halloween Horror Nights event will open in late September and will include new mazes inhabited by 'House of 1,000 Corpses' characters such as Captain Spaulding, Baby, Otis, Mother Firefly and Killer Karl. Zombie and other top artists are acting as consultants on the mazes, "scare zones" and "backlot experiences," in which Zombie's movie monsters will literally leap out at the park's visitors. "Universal is doing it in 3D, so...

With the sci-fi genre really digging deep these days for cheap thrills and gore fest styles instead of interesting stories with decent quality, it's hard to find something worthwhile to put your money into. Considering most sci-fi flicks are so mediocre they end up on the sci-fi channel, you'd be hard pressed to say that the genre itself isn't in the crapper. The average sci-fi flick gives us aliens, mystical creatures or a giant ass snake coming to tear the world apart and only 5 soldiers, 1 reporter and an unlucky camera man standing in their way. I just gave you a premise to about 80% of the crappy sci-fi films of today. Example, Alien Abduction and Manticore. Boosh...
In the light of that, we have a new look at aliens and heroes in a somewhat typical setting in Alien Raiders. The question you must ask is "can it be pulled off?" I'm...
