As you probably have seen Priyanka Chopra is developing a new sitcom for ABC. But wait there’s more – in case you missed it. The sitcom will be based on the living Bollywood legend Madhuri Dixit.
Dixit began enchanting India in the early 80’s with her breakout role as Gauri in Hiren Nag’s Abodh. Since her debut she has captured audience with her grace, beauty, and dance which earned her the name “Dhak Dhak girl.” Like most heroines Dixit found her Hero in Los Angeles based cardiovascular surgeon Sriram Nene. Following the couples nuptials Dixit took a five year hiatus from the film industry.
Chopra’s sitcom will highlight the time Dixit lived with her family in Denver, Colorado from 2002-2007. With Dixit and Nene co-producing the sitcom audiences have a lot to look forward to watching how a living legend lived unnoticed among us.

It’s been just over a month since Nintendo’s newest hybrid home console/handheld, the Switch, was released out into the wild, and on the whole, it’s been selling like Hyrulean hotcakes. Industry analyst Michael Pachter has gone so far as to predict that The Big N’s newest piece of hardware will outperform Microsoft’s 4K behemoth Scorpio console, which releases later this year, and has gone as far as saying that it will become the secondary console to purchase to complement your primary PS4/Xbox One system.
The Switch is a fantastic concept and after spending a lot of time with it, I too, am a believer. It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a piece of Nintendo hardware and been as enamoured with it as I have been with the Switch. It really is a beautiful and well-designed piece of tech and...

It is where hearts meet, auntyjis gossip and kids have a blast. Navratri shin-digs are the ‘it’ get togethers in the Desi calendar every year. It’s a nine day long festive period where everyone joins in daily for a night of song and dance. Apart from being the social get together of the year the festival has a strong religious meaning. It celebrates nine forms of Goddess Durga, one on each night, hence the name nav-nine ratri-nights. The 10th day is the festival of Dashera, marking the ultimate triumph of good over evil in Indian history.
Unlike any other usual festival, navratri songs and dance are specific. They have a distinct beat and the dance form adopted is garba or dandiya. The song and dance routine of the night, garba or dandiya, also have a strong historical backing as depicts the rasa-lila between Lord Krishna and the gopis of Vrindavan.

These past few years Bollywood changed a lot regarding the picturisation of songs. A lot of songs were used in the background describing the situation while the video showed you every emotion that goes with the song. This year Bollywood went back to the big, beautiful, and mesmerising picturisations that this industry is known for.
Just take a look at some of the songs that have left an everlasting impression …
Nagada Sang Dhol – Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela
Bollywood is known for its larger than life dance sequences and with a director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali at the head of Ram-Leela one can only expect nothing less. Nagada Sang Dhol, featuring Deepika Padukone, is a song that belongs in the larger than life category.
The grandeur of the song with the huge sets, color coordinated clothes and the folk madness captures the essences of the rich Gujarati culture on the big screen perfectly.
