Yash Raj Films' Dil Bole Hadippa starring Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor opened in theaters on Friday to immense expectation. While the film's story is getting mixed reviews, the gorgeous Rani is getting raves for her performance as Veera and Veer.
In fact, the esteemed New York Times has a review of Dbh and Rachel Saltz wrote, "Directed by Anurag Singh, "Dil" takes place in a colorful Punjab, with amber waves of grain and sassy local girls who chomp on sugar cane. It's a fantasy of the Indian heartland, a perfect setting for splashy musical numbers and an appropriate one for a film that itself is fantasy: part sports tale, part nationalist love story, part feminist comedy."
Saltz has nothing but praise for the star in her double role, "Ms. Mukherjee's enthusiasm is catchy, and when Veera delivers a feminist speech at the end, she's moving, too."

Dil Bole Hadippa is yet another film from the Yrf’s kitty based in Punjab. This too represents the stereotypical culture of Punjab with swaying yellow fields, flashy celebrations, desi lassi and chomping sugarcane.
The film is the story of one such village of Punjab located at the Wagah border that has its own cricket team and plays match with the local.

The sexy sirens in bikini tops and tiny cholis have certainly not escaped the notice of Censor Board which has given the upcoming Yashraj Films presentation Dil Bole Hadippa a U/A certificate because of some explicit skin show by Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant.
The movie, starring Shahid Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in lead roles, has Sherlyn playing a skimpily clad supermodel trying to lure Shahid. Rakhi plays Shanno Amritsari, a desi bombshell who shakes her booty for a dance company.
Though director Anurag Singh and producer Aditya Chopra wanted a U certificate, the Censor Board gave.

Dil Bole Hadippa., produced by bollywood premier production house Yashraj Films and directed by Anurag Singh, has failed to pass the strict test of censor board and got U/A certificate instead of .U., as wanted by veteran Yash Chopra for his flick. Sources say that Yashraj wanted .U. certificate for .Dil Bole Hadippa. to reach the family audiences, which have always been the backbone of Yashraj.s mushy romantic flicks at the box office. But this time, Censor Board played spoil sport and took objection to the skimpy dresses won by sexy siren Sherlyn Chopra in the film. The censor has also objections towards Rakhi Sawant.s dresses and sensual gyrations during one of her item songs in the flick.

While this short announcement may not contain 8 films, it packs quite a punch. Why? It includes the latest from auteur Jean-Pierre Jeunet which is now being called Micmacs (trailer). To say we're looking forward to this is an understatement as the man has done some of the most brilliant film of our time, specifically Amelie, and The City of Lost Children.
On a side note, Joe Dante's remake of The Hole is getting huge play now. It's premiering at Venice and having it's North American premier at Tiff. I would of completely ignored this film, but with all this major fest play, maybe it's quite brilliant? What gives?
Full list after the break.

- Worse than a buffet line in Texas, the added eight titles announced today (four Gala and four Special Presentations) only reminds me of the gargantuan size of the Toronto Film Festival. Once again, it may be difficult to get to do everything one wants to do in terms of coverage, but with so many quality offerings I get a sense that I'll encounter the future Goodbye Solos and The Hurt Lockers (among the tops of the year so far that were shown at Tiff in 08') without even trying. Among the most anticipated titles we have is the Micmacs film from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, a comedy that I thought was pegged for a Venice world preem but instead is showing in Toronto first. We have a friends of the festival in Dagur Kari who returns to Tiff with the Paul Dano and Brian Cox pairing and Fatih Akin will jump

Mumbai, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur seems to have become Yash Raj Films' (Yrf) favourite. His first venture with the production giant is yet to hit the screens, but the actor has already signed another film with the banner. Shahid's first film with Yrf is being directed by Anurag Singh. He has teamed up with Rani Mukerji in the film, which was earlier titled "Hadippa", which is said to be about cricket. The second project that Shahid has been signed up for will be actor Parmeet Sethi's directorial debut and he teams up with Anushka Sharma of "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" fame. Rakhi Sawant is having the time of her life. And, no she’s not indulging in any cat fight or running somebody down with her acid tongue at the moment.
She’s chasing and doing some flirting and that also with Bollwood’s once upon a time queen Rani Mukerji. But it’s only for reel life.
Just like the popular song, ‘girls just wanna have fun’ Rakhi had her share of fun as she shot for the song for the Yash Raj film ‘Haddipa’.
‘Hadippa’, directed by Anurag Singh, has been in the making for a while now and has Rani and Shahid in the lead. Rani masquerades as a man to play.
