Michael Winner is the bad-taste choice to give The Exorcist a run for its money in the faux-religious horror shocker sweepstakes, and the brave actress Cristina Raines leads an impressive supporting cast as the unfortunate suicide attemptee chosen to be the new Gatekeeper for the portal to Hell. Don't expect to see a Keymaster, but instead some of the most indigestible exploitation of the mainstream decade -- mainly real sideshow oddities to represent 'evil' people. Easily the hands-down insensitivity champ of the '70s. The Sentinel Blu-ray Shout! The Sentinel was released in 1977 to a bit of controversy over director Michael Winner's decision to use real sideshow oddities for his film's conclusion—a move no filmmaker had the balls to do since Tod Browning in 1932's Freaks. Based on the 1974 novel of the same name by Jeffrey Konvitz, The Sentinel is a horror film anomaly, one that simply has to be seen to believe how truly insane it is.
The Sentinel centers on a fashion model who moves into an apartment building that happens to be a portal to Hell. The portal is secretly guarded by deprived priests and occupied by eccentric neighbors who like to host extravagant birthday parties for their pet cats, as well as a mute Beverly D'Angelo who expresses her sexuality during an awkward visit with her new neighbor over friendly morning coffee.

I don't usually like using the term "guilty pleasure" because I rarely feel guilty about the films I like. But this adaptation of one of Stephen King's earliest (and most fun) short stories is such a mixed bag that it's hard to type out any kind of legitimate defense.
It had been quite a few years since I last viewed Graveyard Shift, and so I was curious to see if revisiting it would sustain my initial impression. Over the years I've found that the author's most hardcore fans are the most dismissive of this film, the general consensus being that the filmmakers took an atmospheric and claustrophobic story and failed in recreating any of those feelings. I don't necessarily agree with the assessment, however. If Graveyard Shift does anything right, it's the atmosphere part, the problem being that it never amounts to more than a subpar monster movie -...

Spur of the moment change to the 31 Days line up (due to unforseen circumstances) and I decided to grab this little Stephen King number. This is one of the few adaptations I haven’t seen, and a couple of friends of mine like to go on and on about it. I had no idea what this was about or what to expect. You know what? I had a blast!
This number is based on a Stephen King short story, and you can tell. Something like this is more suited to say Tales From The Crypt or Masters Of Horror, but screenwriter John Esposito and director Ralph Singleton kept it short and managed to lay on enough meat to make it work. This is how you expand upon a short story successfully and keeping it the right length to avoid it getting drawn out.

In May of 2007 (just prior to the nation’s economic collapse), this writer visited the set of the Bogner Entertainment and Trailer Park Partners production Trailer Park of Terror, a Southern-fried fright flick directed by country-music video director-turned feature filmmaker Steven Goldmann. Produced by Jonathan Bogner and Ralph Singleton (Pet Semetary) and based on the Imperium Comics of the same name, Trailer Park of Terror premiered the following year at Slamdance ’08, and was released to DVD that October via Summit Entertainment.
Starring Lew Temple and Priscilla Barnes (The Devil’s Rejects) and Nichole Hiltz, Duane Whitaker (Feast), Ed Corbin and Michelle Lee (among others), Trailer Park of Terror, regardless of its playfully sadistic EC Comics-vibe and inspired makeup designs by Todd Tucker, didn’t cause the waves its producers had predicted, and due to such, unfortunately derailed the planned feature franchise and television and comic book series. Perplexing, given the gonzo cocktail of sex,...

"Because of Winn-Dixie" producers Joan Singleton and Ralph S. Singleton have acquired the film rights to Kathy Charles' novel "John Belushi Is Dead" reports Variety.
The story follows a pair of loners, Hilda and Benji, who comb the Los Angeles streets checking out the city's most notorious crime scenes involving celebrity death, murder or suicide including James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Sharon Tate and Belushi of course.
When Hilda befriends reclusive Echo Park tenant Hank, his downstairs neighbor hints that Hank has some terrible secrets to hide. The Singleton's will adapt the script and produce the film but no director or studio is yet attached.

The first thing you should know is that Kathy Charles' novel John Belushi is Dead is not about John Belushi. This story is about a pair of high school friends who spend their time visiting the scenes of celebrity deaths. Yeah, it's kind of morbid, but everyone's got to have a hobby. The book was optioned by producers Ralph Singleton and Joan Singleton.
Here's the description of the novel:
Pink-haired Hilda and oddball loner Benji are not your typical teenagers. Instead of going to parties or hanging out at the mall, they comb the city streets and suburban culs-de-sac of Los Angeles for sites of celebrity murder and suicide. Bound by their interest in the macabre, Hilda and Benji neglect their schoolwork and their social lives in favor of prowling the most notorious crime scenes in Hollywood history and collecting odd mementos of celebrity death.
