Was once engaged to Archie Leach, AKA Cary Grant!.
Queenie Smith spent many years as high school drama teacher at
Hollywood Professional School, which was attended by many professional
child actors, dancers, singers, etc.
Her final film appearance was in Foul Play (1978), where she and Hope Summers were two sweet, elderly ladies playing a hilariously risque game of Scrabble. Sadly, Ms. Smith passed away within a month after the film was released and Ms. Summers passed away the following June.
Three of Ms. Smith's first four films had a Mississippi River setting ("Masks and Memories", "Mississippi", and the 1936 version of "Show Boat").
