- Sybil Smolova was born on September 17, 1900 in Prague, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary [now Czech Republic]. She is known for Im Schatten des Glücks (1919), Nora Hilger (1918) and Das Gelübde der Keuschheit (1919).
- Her career began in Riga and Warsaw where she worked as a dancer. Then she was engaged by the Shinx Film in Warsaw and her breakthrough came when Friedrich Zelnik spotted her and engaged her to Berlin.
- She only took part in one talky in the 30's called "Anna und Elisabeth" (1933), after that she retired from the film business.
- The Swedish actress Sybil Smolowa (also Smolova) appeared in German as well as in Swedish movies.
- She was an Austrian-Czech actress and dancer and a star of the German and Swedish silent cinema of the 1910s and 1920s.
- Her final film was the lesbian themed Anna und Elisabeth/Anna and Elisabeth (1933).
