The new episode of our The Black Sheep video series doubles as a Christmas viewing recommendation, as we’re taking a look back at the 2005 horror comedy slasher Santa’s Slay (watch it Here) – which stars professional wrestler Bill Goldberg as a very unpleasant Santa Claus. To find out all about the movie and why we think it deserves to be seen by more genre fans, check out the video embedded above!
Written and directed by David Steiman, Santa’s Slay has the following synopsis: It turns out that Santa Claus is not really the sweet old fellow that we all know and love. In fact, he’s a devil and the only thing that’s kept his bad side in check was a bet he lost with an angel. After 1000 years of playing nice, the bet is up and Santa is about to open up a can of Whoop-Ass! The only...

As listeners of Corpse Club and readers of Daily Dead may know, Heather Wixson is a passionate fan of the 2005 horror comedy Santa's Slay, and she shared her love of the film in a Deadly Pleasures column back in 2015. Several years later, Heather now has the great pleasure of being joined by Santa's Slay writer/director David Steiman on a new episode of Daily Dead's podcast!
It doesn't matter whether you've been naughty or nice, because when Santa Claus is actually a demon that just finished serving a 1,000-year sentence delivering presents, everyone better watch out in the 2005 holiday horror comedy Santa's Slay. Starring professional wrestler and actor Bill Goldberg in the titular role, Santa's Slay is a gift cherished by some horror fans while still waiting to be unwrapped by others. To help shine a festive light on the film, Corpse Club co-host Heather Wixson is joined by special guest David Steiman,...

[Originally appeared in the December 2014 issue of Deadly Magazine.] ’Tis the season to be nicer, more forgiving and charitable toward those less fortunate. Keeping these ideals in mind, this month is the perfect opportunity to celebrate my favorite terrible (but so terrible that I can’t help but love it) holiday film of all-time: Santa’s Slay.
Directed by David Steiman (who has yet to helm another film since—poor guy), Santa’s Slay stars Bill Goldberg as a murderous Kris Kringle. He returns to the sleepy town of Hell Township with revenge on his mind, after being forced to be nice to children for a thousand years when he lost a bet with an angel a millennium ago. There’s a bit of Santa-related mythology thrown in, but what makes Santa’s Slay worthwhile is all the over-the-top raucous action and pitch-black humor.
It’s fair to say that the film is about as subtle as a monster truck rally,...

The feature, written and directed by David Steiman, features wrestling star Bill Goldberg as an evil St. Nick who hands out death instead of toys. The German fund is also backing Running Scared, Wayne Kramer's follow up to The Cooler, which Kramer and partner Michael Pierce's True Grit shingle are producing together with Rat Entertainment. Media 8 is the executive producer on the project. Running Scared is set during a single night and follows two young boys who get hold of the gun used by a mobster to kill a police officer. Paul Walker is in negotiations to star as the father of one of the boys who has to take to the street to find the gun before the mob realizes it is missing.
