Well, it finally happened. The Arrowverse now officially has a Green Lantern. The Arrow series finale, “Fadeout” featured in its final moments something that fans have been clamoring for in the DC TV universe almost since its inception: a Green Lantern ring. And it wasn’t enough for there just to be a ring show up on the screen. Oh no...it was found by none other than John Diggle, the most beloved second banana in superhero history this side of Dick Grayson, and a character who has had connections to the Green Lantern mythos teased on the show.

Arrow‘s series finale will follow up the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover’s glimpse of Oa, home of the Green Lantern Corps, by dropping final hints about John Diggle’s speculated connection to the intergalactic law enforcement organization.
For years, the Arrowverse has dropped breadcrumbs pointing to Dig (played by original cast member David Ramsey) becoming a Gl. During “Elseworlds,” for example, the Flash of Earth-90 asked John why he wasn’t wearing his “ring.” And in the Season 7 Arrow episode “Spartan,” it was revealed that John’s stepfather is named General Roy Stewart. John Stewart, of course, is...

There are many loose threads Arrow needs to tie up in its truncated eighth and final season. One that’s less obvious though is the long-standing connection between John Diggle and the Green Lantern Corps. It’s been a fan theory forever that Diggle’s a version of John Stewart’s Gl from the comics. Over the past year or so, there’ve been a few nods and clues pointing to this actually being the case as well and now, star David Ramsey is teasing that it’s going to happen before the show bows out.
When speaking to Collider, Ramsey was asked what he wants to see from the Diggle family across season 8. In his answer, the actor quickly sidelined into talking about the chances of the Green Lantern mystery being cleared up, which seem pretty high indeed.

From what we’re hearing, “Crisis on Infinite Earths” is going to pull out all the stops in treating fans to as many thrilling crossovers as possible. And, seeing as Arrow is ending in the new year, it seems only appropriate for one of these to be the confirmation of the franchise’s longest-running fan theory: that John Diggle is a doppelganger of John Stewart’s Green Lantern.
We Got This Covered has been informed by our sources – the same ones who told us the real Mandarin will be the villain in Shang-Chi, and that Wonder Woman will don her Golden Eagle armor in the sequel, both of which were later confirmed – that David Ramsey will be playing a different version of Diggle from another Earth in the event who will be identified as John Stewart. Fans have been keeping their fingers crossed that all those clues about this over...
