Film and television production in North Carolina reached record-breaking numbers this year, which state officials say is due mostly to tax credit incentives for the industry that were introduced by the governor in 2010.“It is amazing to see what has taken place the past two years in North Carolina,” North Carolina Film Office Director Aaron Syrett said in a statement. He added, “We have one of the smartest incentives in the industry as it takes into account the wealth of resources our state offers including our well established infrastructure and diverse locations. Marvel Studios will film Iron Man 3 starring Robert Downey Jr. in Wilmington, with pre-production starting soon and work in the state lasting about 10 months. State film office head Aaron Syrett said Thursday it will be the largest production to shoot in North Carolina. The production is expected to create 550 jobs for tradesmen, technicians and other crew members and more than 1,000 spots for actors and other talent.
