- Was considered by Woody Allen to shoot Hannah and Her Sisters (1986), but lost the job to Carlo Di Palma.
- Inspired by the French New Wave, Odd Geir Sæther introduced soft ambient lighting to Norwegian film. The standard was hard lighting in the studios back in 1965 when he shot his first feature film The Guards (1965), directed by Arne Skouen.
