leave Germany as he was of Jewish descent.
Second son of Hungarian journalist Cornelius Tabori and his wife Elsa.
While his father died in the concentration camp Auschwitz in 1944, his
mother and his brother Paul managed to escape the Nazis.
Stepfather of Kristoffer Tabori, who took his surname professionally.

After working for the BBC in World War II, he went to the US in
