We’re going to play you some songs from beyond that year, but goddamn it, it all started in ’99 and it is starting again here tonight.”

Film and television composer Bear McCreary has unleashed “Incinerator” as the latest single from his recently announced album The Singularity, arriving May 10th. The song features Serj Tankian on vocals, and has a sonic vibe that would fit comfortably in System of a Down’s catalog.
“When I got the music, when I got this song specifically, I was blown away,” stated Tankian. “It’s explosive.”
The song is explosive, indeed, starting out with a blistering guitar riff before Tankian’s soaring trademark vocals take the spotlight. About two minutes into the track, Tankian shifts into a chaotic rapid delivery reminiscent of Soad’s “Chop Suey!”
The tune serves as the album’s leadoff track, with McCreary remarking, “Once I heard Serj’s searing vocals, I knew immediately that ‘Incinerator’ would be the first song on the album, acting like a warning that a massive, aggressive, and emotional journey lay ahead.

Corey Taylor has opened up about the mental health struggles that led to the cancellation of his 2024 solo tour.
Earlier this month, Taylor announced that he would be cancelling almost all of his 2024 solo dates due to his “mental and physical health.” That included a month-long North American trek that would have begun in February; however, Taylor later revealed that he still plans to embark on a short tour of Asia starting in late March.
Now Taylor has shared a social media update with fans, further elaborating on the mental breakdown that nearly led him to relapse (Taylor has remained sober in recent years). He also explained his decision to cancel the North American dates while keeping the handful of Asian shows on the calendar — an apparent cause of confusion among fans.

Kiss recently played their final concert ever, but singer-bassist Gene Simmons is not ready to quit performing quite yet.
Simmons has booked a date with his solo project, Gene Simmons Band, at the Brazil edition of the Summer Breeze festival on April 26th in São Paulo. It’s the first post-kiss activity from any of the remaining band members, and the announcement comes just over a month after Kiss retired from performing in human, non-avatar form after two concerts at Madison Square Garden.
Simmons’ solo band last played in 2018 and typically runs through a setlist comprised of Simmons-penned Kiss material and deep cuts. The band’s current lineup is rounded out by guitarists Brent Woods and Zach Throne (Corey Taylor) and drummer Brian Tichy.
For Simmons, the solo shows have offered a more intimate setting — and one where he can dig deep into Kiss’ songbook.

A new line of Slipknot Funko Pop! figures has been announced, and somewhat surprisingly, the line features ousted drummer Jay Weinberg.
The Weinberg fig is among six in the new collection, which also includes Slipknot founder Shawn “Clown” Crahan, guitarists Jim Root and Mick Thomson, bassist Alessandro “V-Man” Venturella, and percussionist Michael “Tortilla Man” Pfaff. The set arrives in March 2024.
The inclusion of Weinberg comes after the band made the “creative decision” to part ways with the drummer in November. Weinberg later said he was “heartbroken and blindsided” by his removal, ending a near-decade stint in the band that began in 2014 and encompassed three studio albums.
It would appear that the Funko Pop! figurines were already in production before the personnel change. Even the figure’s description is outdated and still reads in the present tense: “Light up your music collection with Jay Weinberg, the drummer for the heavy metal band Slipknot!

The estate of the late Joey Jordison has sued Slipknot members Corey Taylor and Shawn “Clown” Crahan for allegedly profiting off the drummer’s death, among other accusations.
The lawsuit was actually filed in June, but only just obtained by TMZ and Blabbermouth. The suit, filed by Steamroller, Inc., which is the successor in interest of Jordison, claims that Taylor and Crahan failed to return “at least 22 items” that were the property of the late drummer after “promising to return all of Jordison’s belongings.”
The complaint alleges that those items, including “musical instruments, gear, and wardrobe,” were used “in a traveling Slipknot museum called Knotfest and line[d] their pockets with profit off of Jordison’s devoted fanbase.”
The lawsuit argues that Taylor and Crahan had agreed to give Jordison back the items upon his ouster from Slipknot in 2013, and before his passing in 2021. It reads, in part:

The estate of Edith Piaf has partnered with Warner Music Entertainment and the production company Seriously Happy for an upcoming biopic that’ll use AI technology to recreate the late singer’s voice, the first film of its kind to do so.
Tentatively titled Edith, the biopic will cull together hundreds of voice recordings and photos — some of which date back over 80 years ago — of the French pop icon, who died in October 1963 due to complications related to liver cancer. The intended effect is Piaf narrating her own life story, while the visual element will combine new animated creations with archival footage.
Edith will take place primarily in her Paris hometown and New York, tracing her short, yet immensely impactful life between the 1920s to 1960s. Of course, the flick will come with a soundtrack featuring a number of the singer’s original song recordings, including “La Vie en rose” and “Non,...

As the singer of Slipknot and Stone Sour, as well as solo artist, Corey Taylor has rubbed shoulders with many of his own personal heroes in the business. But his encounters with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister are among the most memorable.
In a new interview with Classic Rock magazine, the Slipknot frontman fanboy’d out on some of the famous rockstars he’s met over the years, most of which entail humorous — and in Lemmy’s case, downright raunchy — anecdotes.
Taylor had only met the Motörhead mastermind in passing prior to running into him in the kitchenette at the German headquarters of guitar company Gibson. As Taylor recounted, while the two were “smoking out of the window like high-schoolers, just being dicks,” Lemmy proceeded to tell what Taylor claims to be “one of the filthiest jokes” he’s ever heard in his life.

Nick Rhodes, best known as the keyboardist of the legendary new wave English band Duran Duran has gone on to defend the use of AI in making music. Recently, the overuse of AI in creating digital structures, interfaces, tunings, and adjustment of vocals has come under attack from musicians from a variety of genres ranging from Noel Gallagher of Oasis, to Drake, to Corey Taylor of Slipknot, all of whom have gone on to condemn this stating that AI is killing their artistry.

In the spirit of Halloween, prodigious 13-year-old YouTube rocker Nandi Bushell has uploaded a drum cover of Slipknot’s “Psychosocial.”
Donning a devilish costume, Bushell takes on the dynamic drum parts of the late Joey Jordison, whose pounding steers the complex arrangement of the All Hope Is Gone track. It’s certainly an appropriate song choice for Nandi to show off her own skills behind the kit.
If you haven’t been keeping up with Nandi’s channel, the multi-instrumentalist has long since proven herself as a straight-up virtuoso…with flare to boot. The childish enthusiasm of her early clips has turned into stage-ready swagger, as she spins her sticks and grins at the camera with self-assurance. Of course, she nails the song’s iconic guitar/drum breakdown and its confounding time signature.
The positive comments have been pouring in on the post: “Good lord, I’m just imagining the...

Corey Taylor discussed the financial status of Slipknot’s members in a new interview, and considering the band is one of the most popular metal acts in the world, his comments were a bit surprising.
The singer opened up about the money side of his profession in an appearance on the FeedbackDef podcast. During the interview, Taylor stated that he believes he and his bandmates qualify as “upper middle class” but aren’t in the same tax bracket as, say, pop superstar Taylor Swift.
“Honestly, in a weird way, we don’t make a lot of money,” Taylor said [as transcribed by Blabbermouth]. “I mean, we make enough to live, obviously, and we can live comfortably, but we’ve never been offered massive deals. There’s a lot of us in the band, and there’s a whole crew that we have to pay. There’s the production that we have to pay for.

YouTube is currently in negotiations with record labels to launch a new AI tool that will allow creators to make videos using vocals from popular musicians, according to Billboard.
The trade publication reports that YouTube had hoped to introduce a beta of the tool with a small selection of artists to a “select group” of creators during its Made On YouTube event in September, but coming to licensing agreements with the major labels — Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group — delayed those plans (A wide launch would necessitate new agreements).
In addition, it has apparently been “challenging” to find big names to participate in the AI tool, with artists concerned about how creators could use their voices to deliver messages or sing lyrics that they don’t approve of.
Per Billboard’s sources, the labels view this deal with YouTube as a vital “framework” for the use of AI,...

Corey Taylor has released his sophomore solo album, CMF2
The album sees the Slipknot frontman, who graces our latest Consequence Cover Story, surrounded by a cast of musicians he also calls his pals: bassist Eliot Lorango, drummer Dustin Robert, and guitarists Zach Throne and Christian Martucci.
Taylor and company worked alongside producer Jay Ruston on a set of songs that traverses the singer’s musical background. There’s grungy Alice in Chains nods like “Dead Flies,” fast punk rock (with guitarwork from Taylor himself) on “Talk Sick”, heavy alternative metal (“Beyond”) and references to his acoustic/folk influences like Ani Difranco and Ray Lamontagne (“Breath of Fresh Smoke”).
Notably the album was recorded using an old-school, hands-on approach that eschewed the use of heavy post-production and digital plugins. Rather, the songs were tracked live with some overdubbing, giving the LP a raw and live sound that is becoming more infrequent in modern hard rock.

London-based rock duo Wargasm have released an energetic, hard-hitting new single called “Bang Ya Head” featuring Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. The song appears on their upcoming debut album, Venom, out October 27th.
“Bang Ya Head” features rave-appropriate electronics and sharp guitars, along with the dueling vocals of Durst and Wargasm singer Milkie Way.
Regarding the new single, Wargasm’s Sam Matlock stated, “When I was working in bars it always drove me insane how much it costs us to live, and how little money we make. The worlds going f**king crazy and everything’s getting so expensive — how the f**k are we meant to buy a life? It’s just this nightmare cycle until you get lucky. Like banging your head against a brick wall over and over and over — you bang your head until you break your f**king neck.”

Slipknot fans are a dedicated bunch, and they’re notorious for bequeathing gifts and gestures of devotion upon the Nine.
Revolver collected questions from fans for a new feature on Corey Taylor, and one person asked the Slipknot frontman about the “worst, weirdest or scariest fan gift” the band has ever received.
“One of Slipknot’s biggest fans in Holland was this guy Crazy White Sean — he was this weird hippie artist-musician dude who just tooled around Amsterdam doing his thing,” Taylor recalled. “We were in Amsterdam on Valentine’s Day to play a show, and he brought us a real cow heart in a Valentine’s box and it fucking smelled awful.”
What does a member of the Slipknot camp do with a cow heart in a box?
“Somebody tried to take a bite of it and immediately threw up,” Taylor said. “I was like, ‘That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen,...

Corey Taylor has shared “Talk Sick,” the third single from his forthcoming sophomore solo album CMF2, out September 15th.
Taylor’s solo work has seen the Slipknot frontman embracing his hard rock influences and unleashing his wild side in the process. “Talk Sick” is brimming with sharp guitar leads, big power-pop hooks, and Corey’s tangible swagger.
Discussing the song in a press release, Taylor said that he achieved the biting tone of the opening guitar riff by playing it through “a speaker about the size of a coffee cup” — an old Steve Albini trick.
“It made it sound violent; you feel like you’re being stung by bees who are playing along to the Sex Pistols,” said Taylor.
Regarding the lyrics, he added: “There’s an element of spiritual regurgitation, trying to purge yourself of demons that have been clinging to you because of prior relationships, romantic or otherwise.

Slipknot singer Corey Taylor had the honor of singing the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song with actor Tom Kenny, who provides the voice for the popular cartoon character. The performance took place over the weekend at the Huntington Comic and Toy Convention in West Virginia.
Taylor is no stranger to the SpongeBob theme song, having performed it numerous times during his solo shows over the years. However, after being introduced by Kenny, the Slipknot frontman told the crowd, “This is the most nervous I’ve ever been in my whole career.”
Backed by a full band, Taylor and Kenny traded verses on the infectious theme song, getting the crowd to chant the call-and-response “SpongeBob SquarePants” line throughout the outdoor performance.
There’s a good chance Taylor will perform the SpongeBob theme during his upcoming US solo tour, which launches August 25th in Denver. Tickets are available here.

Like any sane person, Corey Taylor isn’t happy about the recent trend in which concertgoers hurl objects at artists while they’re performing. The Slipknot singer didn’t mince words about the rising tally of said incidents in a new interview with Loudwire, arguing that such behavior shows “artists aren’t regarded as people anymore.”
“It’s fucking ridiculous,” Taylor responded when asked about the topic. “This is one of the problems with social media. Now artists aren’t regarded as people anymore. Even if they never were, they were still regarded as something that is flesh and bone. They were something to obsess about, but at least they were a person.”
Taylor continued, “Now, because of the feeling of being even more removed from the human experience, now, you might as well just be a fucking soda machine or a phone booth for fuck sake. You’re an object,...

The era of generative AI has begun, and now, the power players in the music industry are scrambling to catch up, like Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group. Both music companies have begun discussions with Google about the potential of creating a generative AI tool.
News of the discussions broke on Tuesday, when the Financial Times published a report claiming that “four people familiar with the matter” have confirmed that Google has been in the early stages of developing a new tool aimed at allowing people to create AI-generated music legally and “legitimately.” The talks with Universal and Warner appear to be separate, but Google’s intention appears to be the same: to build a way to support the creativity of generative AI without impeding on the rights of the artists whose work is being utilized to create it.

The Eagles’ Joe Walsh expressed his indifference toward AI in a recent interview with The Associated Press, sharing he won’t feel threatened by the technology’s encroachment on the music industry until it can “destroy a hotel room.”
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, who once caused $28,000 in hotel property damage and proudly sang “I live in hotels/ Tear out the walls” on 1978’s “Life’s Been Good” set an unlikely new standard for the innovative tech to surpass, claiming, “It’s computers, it has nothing to do with music.”
“It can’t destroy a hotel room, it can’t throw a TV off the fifth floor into the pool and get it right in the middle,” the guitarist shared. “When AI knows how to destroy a hotel room, I’ll pay attention to it.”
Whether Average Joe has continued to live inside “A Life of Illusion” or...

Corey Taylor has unveiled “Post Traumatic Blues” as the latest single from his upcoming album, CMF2, set for release September 15th via the Slipknot frontman’s own BMG imprint Decibel Cooper.
The new tune is on the heavier side of Taylor’s solo material, and should feel right at home for Slipknot fans. After a long instrumental intro, the singer attacks the verses with guttural vocals before launching into a melodic chorus.
“‘Post Traumatic Blues’ is my attempt to describe for people what it’s like to deal with Ptsd,” remarked Taylor in a press release. “Sometimes it’s so hard for people to understand the ups and downs, the severity of the cold and numbness, that I wanted to try and build a bridge lyrically between the ones living with the disease and the ones who are trying to help them.”
The new track follows lead single “Beyond,” which...

Since forming in 1999, Slipknot have famously boasted a large lineup — almost always consisting of nine members. While there have been significant changes through the years, one member who seems irreplaceable is frontman Corey Taylor — or maybe not?
Bassist Paul Gray tragically died in 2010, while drummer Joey Jordison (who would later pass away in 2021) parted ways with the band in 2013. In recent years, percussionist Chris Fehn and keyboardist Craig Jones were let go from the masked metal act. Each time, Slipknot have found a replacement and persevered as a band.
In a new interview with Rock Antenne (watch below), Corey Taylor discussed the future of Slipknot and what it would look like if other longtime members, including himself, decided to step away.
Speaking hypothetically, Taylor suggested that if he were to retire from Slipknot, he would gladly seek out his own replacement. Of course, such a scenario would only unfold if...

Since the departure of longtime Slipknot keyboardist Craig Jones last month, the band has kept the name of his replacement a mystery. Ironically, one-time mystery Slipknot member Michael “Tortilla Man” Pfaff may have inadvertently revealed the new key player’s identity.
Pfaff posted a selfie on Instagram from backstage at a recent show. In the since-deleted post, Pfaff is standing in front of a clothing rack labeled with the legal names of each member of Slipknot: “Corey” for frontman Corey Taylor, “Sid” for DJ Sid Wilson, “Mick” for guitarist Mick Thomson, and one tag that appears to read “Zac” … only there is no known member of Slipknot with that name.
The Slipknot faithful were quick to jump on the post, capturing a screenshot and posting it to Reddit. The consensus is that the “Zac” in question is journeyman keyboardist Zac Baird, who’s played with Korn and Ghost and has...

Los Angeles, July 2 (Ians) Grammy winning American heavy metal band Slipknot singer Corey Taylor is well known for his strong vocal dynamics, instantly shifting from melodic vocals to harsh screams and growls.
However, the 49-year old metal veteran has predicted that will not be able to maintain his vocal quality by the time he hits his 50s.
As per Female First, the ‘Duality’ and ‘Psychosocial’ hard rocker told Germany’s Rock Antenne: “As long as I can physically do it, and as long as there are people there to see it, man, I’ll continue to do it. Now, if the quality starts to fail, then I’ll know it’s time to hand it in. And I’ve already thought about it — I’ve already thought about, maybe I’ve got another five years left of physically touring like this. I try to take care of myself. I work out when I can.
