Temperton was recruited by Quincy Jones in 1978 as a songwriter and formed a successful partnership with Jones and recording engineer Bruce Swedien, dubbed The A-Team'. Among his numerous hits are the title track for Michael Jackson's 'Off the Wall', plus 'Rock With You' and 'Give Me the Night' (1980, a George Benson mega hit).
