Tc (Stephen Hill) may not have been ready to see anyone while he was recovering after being shot — he didn’t even tell his mother what happened — but it’s time, on Magnum P.I., for him to deal with the consequences of that. On the list of people he wants to see now that he’s out of the rehab facility is Mahina (Emily Alabi), and TV Insider has an exclusive sneak peek of just that in the October 25 episode. With encouragement from Sham (Christopher Thornton) and armed with flowers (which he worries isn’t enough), Tc approaches Mahina at work. When she asks what he’s doing there, “I came to bring you flowers,” he says, then acknowledges he should’ve given her a heads up. “I just wanted to know if you had some time to talk.” But “now you want to talk?” she asks. “I’ve been...

Regarding the return of Magnum P.I., it's a good news-bad news situation for fans.
Let's go with the good news first. Unlike many scripted programs, the second half of the NBC series' fifth season will return on Oct. 4, earlier than was previously announced.
The bad news is that these episodes are likely the end for the Magnum reboot. After saving the show following its cancellation by CBS, NBC managed to run it into the ground before canceling it yet again. Yup, it's been that kind of season for Magnum.
Here's everything we know about the probable Magnum final ride.
Has Magnum P.I. been renewed?
No, sadly, just the opposite. It's been a roller-coaster couple of years for those involved with Magnum.
For four seasons, the Jay Hernandez-starrer was a pretty sturdy performer for CBS. Granted, ratings expectations for Friday prime-time are a fairly low bar.

Chicago – An intriguing, highly unusual premise is brought to life by fine performances in “Sympathy for Delicious,” but the film’s aim to inspire is undercut by the shallowness of its one-note characters. Scene after scene veers between a genuinely absorbing morality play and a feature-length “Touched by an Angel” episode riddled with f-bombs.
I suspect that the picture was awarded a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival in part because of its offscreen story regarding the 20-year friendship between first-time director Mark Ruffalo and screenwriter/star Christopher Thornton. Their arduous journey toward bringing this indie production to the screen was clearly a labor of love, and the film is an impressive achievement on numerous levels. It just has the tremendous misfortune of centering on one of the most insufferable protagonists in recent memory.

Movie star Mark Ruffalo insists he struggled more than most to make his directorial debut - because he was still grieving the loss of his brother.
The Kids Are All Right star signed on to direct and star in the adaptation of disabled pal Christopher Thornton's screenplay Sympathy For Delicious in a bid to beat the blues, and he admits the hectic 23-day shoot was cathartic for him.
Ruffalo tells Black Book magazine, "When I started making the film I was in the deepest pit of grief and pain. I was really mourning, and I said to myself, 'How can I possibly turn a total f**king s**t situation into something else?' The only thing I knew to do with all my unresolved anger and sadness was to shove it into the work, and try to make something meaningful.
"I would go into my trailer every day, wanting to crawl into a little ball, and then someone would be like, 'Boss, they're ready for you on set.' I'd be lying there, like, 'F**k, how am I going to face this day?'
"Acting, whether it's theatre or filmmaking, has always been a really healthy way for me to work out my dark, dark s**t... My only other option was to slip into deep despair and depression, which I was headed for. If you'll notice, I dedicated the movie to my brother."
Ruffalo's sibling, Scott, was shot dead in December, 2008.

While Mark Ruffalo's directorial debut "Sympathy For Delicious" was kind of a disaster, he certainly didn't leave anything to chance. The film follows a wheelchair-confined DJ who discovers he has the power to heal, and it boasts a pretty solid cast including Ruffalo himself, Orlando Bloom, Juliette Lewis, Laura Linney, Noah Emmerich and Christopher Thornton (who also wrote the screenplay). But Ruffalo's eye for talent didn't end there. It appears that the actor/filmmaker is somewhat of an indie music nut. "Sympathy For Delicious" features an original score by Montreal rockers The Besnard Lakes and as Ruffalo told us last month,…...

Two years ago, Mark Ruffalo's directorial debut, Sympathy For Delicious, had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. There, it became one of the biggest critical disappointments and was ripped apart. Some folks were rude for the sake of being rude, and some were fair, but almost every review was less-than-favorable. But Ruffalo got the last smile, as the film did go on to win the Special Jury Prize at the end of the festival. There are directorial debuts far worse than Delicious - Mitch Glazer's Passion Play immediately comes to mind - but the film is in no way going to be adored as much as some of his on-screen performances.

Apparently it’s called “acting”. Go figure. Naturally, playing the Hulk came up. Here’s his answer: Fans of Mark Ruffalo definitely have to pick up “Sympathy for Delicious”, where the actor makes his directorial debut. This inspired and unusual film tells the story of Dean O’Dwyer (Christopher Thornton), also known as “Delicious D,” an up-and-coming DJ on the underground music scene in Los Angeles. Forced to live out of his car on skid row, Dean begins his descent into depression when he meets Father Joe Roselli (Mark Ruffalo), a passionate young priest.

Mark Ruffalo officially has made the jump for dependable supporting actor to A-list star.
After snagging a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars this year for "The Kids Are All Right," you'd think a whole new world of opportunity would be open for the New York-via-Wisconsin and Los Angeles native. Still, it took him more than a decade to finally realize "Sympathy For Delicious," his directorial debut about a paralyzed homeless man who discovers he has has faith healing powers, only to become a deejay for a local rock and roll band.
"Sympathy" was written by and stars Ruffalo's longtime friend Christopher Thornton, who was paralyzed from the waist down in real life more than 20 years ago. Ruffalo spoke with NextMovie about the film, his preparation for the Hulk in the upcoming "Avengers" movie and why getting an Oscar nomination means nothing when it comes to cinematic fund-raising.

It only took a decade, but veteran actor and recent Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo finally has his feature directorial debut, Sympathy For Delicious, in theaters. Written by and starring Ruffalo's longtime theater comrade Christopher Thornton, the film follows the rise and fall of a paralyzed street dweller and aspiring DJ who discovers an uncanny gift for healing the sick, wounded and infirm -- with the exception of himself. The paradox throws him into conflict with everybody from a service- (and money-) minded Catholic priest (played by Ruffalo) to a pair of debased rockers (Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis) hoping to enliven their show with a big new thrill. Why not a healer?...

The film is Mark Ruffalo's first foray into directing and he has assembled quite a cast; with Orlando Bloom, Laura Linney and Juliet Lewis there is no shortage of star power. Mark Ruffalo's close friend Christopher Thornton, who was paralyzed from the waist down from a climbing accident, not only wrote the film but also stars as Delicious D, a wheel chair bound down-and-out DJ who discovers he has the power to heal others but cannot heal himself. After his real life accident, Christopher Thornton's almost gave up on acting but thanks to Ruffalo's encouragement he is now on the big screen. The only thing that's mysterious about this unsubtle film about the nature of healing and faith is the thought process behind the raft of bad decisions made by director/star Mark Ruffalo, a great actor making a disappointing directorial debut working from a script by his friend and co-star Christopher Thornton. Despite an intriguing premise taken to some unexpected places and some strong supporting performances, "Sympathy For Delicious" is a gangly mess of a movie.
Thornton plays Dean, a.k.a. Delicious D, a paraplegic DJ living on Skid Row. The night after an unsuccessful visit to a faith healer, Dean wakes up with a strange sensation in his hands and the ability to heal almost anyone with a single touch.

Orlando Bloom, Juliette Lewis, and Laura Linney come together in first-time director Mark Ruffalo's noteworthy debut "Sympathy for Delicious."
For one brief moment Dean (Christopher Thornton) allowed himself to believe. For once he opened himself up to the possibility of being healed. But when the miracle passes him by and touches the man in the next row behind him, Dean, DJ Delicious is done. He is done with faith, he’s done with hope, his expectations are gone. But the miracle did not pass him by. He received his miracle, it was just not the one he wanted. Dean wakes up with the power to heal. To heal everyone but himself.
Confused and bewildered by his new found state, DJ Delicious turns to the one solid person in his life, skid row priest Father Joe (Mark Ruffalo). Father Joe has been all over the world but when

The NYC premiere night, presented by Deleon Tequila, was glittering and star-filled — though the accompanying movie is anything but.
The distance between the red carpet where Mark Ruffalo, Laura Linney, Orlando Bloom, and Christopher Thornton sauntered on, smiled, and the movie they presented, the Ruffalo-directed Sympathy for Delicious, presented by Deleon Tequila, was significant.
And, by that, we mean nothing critical about the movie — it’s an intense, darkly funny, throttle-up salvation fable that features an incredible performance from Thornton.
Bloom collects the souls of Iggy Pop, Sid Vicious, and Nigel Tufnel for his hilarious (and equally disturbing) turn as a self-imagined punk god, and Ruffalo is his usual thoughtful self — he actually makes acting seem like an intellectual pursuit rather than compulsive self-promotion.
The fact that the party continued in the Garden Room at the Soho Mondrian was remarkable in many ways — because, like the misty, humid night on...

It’s been a whirlwind of late of awards ceremonies and plane rides for Mark Ruffalo — so much so that it’s hard to pin him down for a chat. Via cell phone on a drive to Manhattan from upstate New York where he lives with his wife, actress Sunrise Coigney, and their son and two daughters, he apologizes then quips, “I’m harder to interview than Elvis!”
The 43-year-old actor earned widespread kudos this awards season for his smart portrayal of a sperm-donor dad who over-ingratiates himself into his biological children’s family in the Oscar-nominated “The Kids Are All Right.” A slew of nominations resulted — including ones for a BAFTA and an Academy Award — and he took home the New York Film Critics Circle Award and Comedy Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Mark Ruffalo doesn't do things halfheartedly.
When he wasn't liking the roles Hollywood had to offer, Ruffalo retired to a farm 3000 miles away; when he decided to come back, he landed his first Oscar nomination. In his free time, he fights intricate environmental battles in New York state politics. And, in his very first directorial effort, he's bringing to life a 10-year passion project that's half religious allegory and half rock 'n roll.
Ruffalo showcased that directorial debut, "Sympathy for Delicious," at the film's New York premiere on Monday night. A winding, gritty story about a poverty-stricken, wheelchair-bound former DJ who suddenly finds that he has the powers of a faith healer, Ruffalo spent ten years working to produce the film with its writer and star, his real life friend Christopher Thornton. Just their persistence in pursuing the project alone should qualify for some lifetime achievement awards.

Actor/director Mark Ruffalo forced his disabled best pal to sleep in his car on the mean streets of Los Angeles to get a real feel for the paraplegic he plays in a hard-hitting new movie.
Christopher Thornton feared for his life as he researched his role in Ruffalo's directorial debut Sympathy For Delicious after he was forced to spend two "scary" nights in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.
The film is based on Thornton's screenplay about a homeless paraplegic who lives in his car, and The Kids Are All Right star insisted his best pal experience life on the streets for himself before playing the lead role.
The actor, who is wheelchair-bound in real life, admits he got little sleep during his stint on Skid Row:
He tells WENN, "Mark made me live in a car. He said to do it on Skid Row which is really dangerous, so I think I spent two nights on Skid because it is really violent down there... I was trying to get a taste of it.
"There were terrible drug addicts who are all jittery, craving a fix and crazy and screaming, and fights would break out. One minute Skid Row is very beautiful and almost serene and all of a sudden it's very violent. It's a very volatile, constantly changing place.
"There's a scene in the movie where my car gets broken into and that was actually inspired because I thought they were gonna break into the car that I was actually sleeping in when I was down there. People were just running up and down and banging on things. It was really scary. I don't recommend it."
Ruffalo admits he was well aware of how dangerous the area was, but felt it necessary for Thornton to learn how to survive for himself to fully understand the struggles faced by the character he was portraying.
He says, "I just wanted him to go spend some time on Skid Row because the movie really captured that place. I worked down there and spent time living near Skid Row. I had a neighbour that was stabbed on my doorstep by gang members. It was a heavy time when I lived there in the early '90s; it was pretty much the introduction of crack cocaine and it was a very heavy place to live. I wanted Christopher to get a sense of how difficult the character's life is in the beginning of the movie."...

ComingSoon.net talked exclusively to Mark Ruffalo, Christopher Thornton, Orlando Bloom and Juliette Lewis about Sympathy for Delicious , opening in limited theaters on Friday, April 29. The film, which marks Ruffalo's directorial debut, tells the story of Dean O'Dwyer (Thornton), also known as "Delicious D," an up-and-coming DJ on the underground music scene in Los Angeles. Forced to live out of his car on skid row, Dean begins his descent into depression when he meets Father Joe Roselli (Ruffalo), a passionate young priest. It was over a year ago Sympathy For Delicious made its first debut at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival and last month Mark, who also directed the piece, released a new trailer. Christopher wrote the story and plays the lead character in the unique story about a DJ who finds himself with the ability to heal people through faith. Orlando has the role of another band member in the movie, which gives fans the opportunity to see him decked out in rock star leather pants and muscle tees. This is the second screening for Orlando at this year's Tff having already walked the red carpet over the weekend with his "hot" wife, bikini model Miranda Kerr, in support of The Good Doctor. I’ve always thought there was more to Mark Ruffalo than simply being a great actor. It’s something in the eyes. My thoughts were cemented when a trailer emerged for Ruffalo’s directorial debut, a drama titled Sympathy for Delicious.
Written by Christopher Thornton, the film also stars the first time scribe in the titular role of 'Delicious' Dean O'Dwyer, a recently paralyzed DJ who goes searching for healing in the world of religion. He discovers that he has the power to heal others but alas, he can’t heal himself.
I’m not a huge fan of this trope which usually pits an individual with the decision to go into hiding or help others, mostly because they all end the same way: with the healer giving himself into helping others and eventually finding some sort of help/cure for him or herself. However, this cast, which includes Orlando Bloom,...

Mark Ruffalo is set to make his directing debut with April 29th's Sympathy for Delicious . Written by and starring Christopher Thornton, Ruffalo's longtime friend, the film tells the story of a recently paralyzed DJ who winds up becoming an unlikely faith healer. Ruffalo and Thornton (who is disabled in real life) spoke with ComingSoon.net about the project and, while we'll be running the full video interviews closer to the film's release, have available now the video of Ruffalo discussing his next project, Joss Whedon's The Avengers . "I've been working a lot with Joss Whedon on the script," Ruffalo says, "It's coming along. It's going to be my crack at the green behemoth. It's like my generation's Hamlet. We're all going to get a shot at him."...

Very interesting trailer for Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut, “Sympathy for Delicious”, which co-stars Ruffalo, Christopher Thornton, Orlando Bloom, Laura Linney, and Juliette Lewis. Ruffalo’s currently going mainstream with a big honking role in Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers” (he’ll be playing Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, probably his most mainstream role to date), but he’s always worked pretty regularly in the realm of indie films. This looks like one of those movies, the kind you actually have to put out the effort to seek out, but it could very well be worth it. Thornton plays the improbably named Delicious Dean O Dwyer, a paralyzed DJ who gets a second chance when he develops the power to cure other people, but strangely, not himself. Go figure, right? For a first-time filmmaker, Ruffalo looks like he’s delivered a visually impressive film. function getVideo() { var so = new SWFObject("http://cdn.

Written and starring Christopher Thornton as a paralyzed, Los Angeles DJ that finds he has the ability to heal the sick, Sympathy For Delicious won the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2010, but, despite the accolade, the movie received mixed reviews, some of which Ruffalo described to IFC last July as "mean-spirited."
I started to gain a lot of support as the festival went on, but when I won the award, a critic came up to me: "So, you have a problem being criticized?" I said, "No, I have a problem with someone being overtly mean. I would like to make another film one day, honestly, and that hurts my chances of doing that. And I also care deeply about it. It's like a child to me."

A couple of weeks ago we brought you the first poster for the directorial debut of Mark Ruffalo and 2010 Sundance World Jury Prize winner, Sympathy for Delicious, an intriguing film about a wheelchair-bound DJ who develops the power to heal people, but unable to heal himself.
Now we have the first trailer for you and it is clear to see that this is not a film being played for laughs, rather it has the feel of a very considered piece, played straight as a die by all concerned and looks all the better and more affecting for it. Ruffalo is on acting dutis as well, though not in the starring role of DJ ‘Delicious’ Dean O’Dwyer, which is played by the film’s screenwriter, Christopher Thornton.
Ruffalo, as seems to so often be the case for first time actors turned directors, has nabbed himself a thoroughly respectable cast, including Juliette Lewis,...

Mark Ruffalo’s Oscar nomination, for The Kids Are All Right, was a long time coming. His directorial debut has been in the works for nearly as long. Sympathy for Delicious debuted at Sundance last year, where it won a special jury prize, but Ruffalo and the film’s star, Christopher Thornton, spent a full decade putting the project together. In the movie, out April 29, Thornton, who became a paraplegic after a 1992 climbing accident, plays a spiritually lost DJ who discovers he has a healing touch that can help others, but not himself.
