Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is a favorite vixen from The Young and the Restless. Stafford has been playing the scheming redhead on and off since 1994. The recent tragic events revolving around Phyllis have sparked speculation that Stafford is leaving.

It’s hard to imagine The Young and the Restless without Phyllis. Whether she’s a villain or a heroine, she brings excitement. But Genoa City is mourning her after the tragic events at the bicentennial gala.
Phyllis fainted during a heated confrontation with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman). While Phyllis was rushed to the hospital, her new “husband,” Jeremy Stark (James Hyde), stayed behind. Phyllis’ fainting spell and Jeremy’s marriage revelation stunned the party guests. But they soon learned more tragic news.

Renee Elise Goldsberry has three chances to win Emmys this year. She could be nominated for Best Comedy Actress for Peacock’s “Girls5eva,” Best Movie/Limited Supporting Actress for Disney+’s presentation of “Hamilton,” and Best Narrator for “Voice of Freedom (American Experience).” Winning any of those would bring her three-quarters of the way to Egot status, and in doing so she’d be walking a similar path to her “Hamilton” co-star and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Miranda first won a Tony for composing the musical “In the Heights” in 2008. Then he won a Grammy in 2009 for the “In the Heights” cast recording. His Emmy came third: he prevailed in 2014 for co-writing the song “Bigger!” for the 67th Tony Awards. Now all he needs is an Oscar to wrap up his grand slam. He already earned a nomination for his original song “How Far I’ll Go” from the animated musical “Moana,...

The Daytime Emmys aren’t shy about giving out multiple awards — just ask eight-time Best Actor winner Anthony Geary (“General Hospital“) or six-time Best Actress champ Erika Slezak (“One Life to Live”). But Best Supporting Actress has been an anomaly: no one has ever won it more than twice, and for a long time even that was rare. However, this year Tamara Braun (“Days of Our Lives”) could break from the pack by becoming the first ever to win this category three times.
To date only five actresses have won this award twice: Julia Barr (both for “All My Children”), Nancy Lee Grahn, Amelia Heinle (both for “The Young and the Restless”), Gina Tognoni (both for “Guiding Light”), and Braun, who prevailed for the first time for “Days” in 2009 and then won for “Gh” just last year.

The Young and the Restless fans get to see a lot of faces come and go. If you take 2019 as an example, you know that there are people here one day and gone the next, like Phyllis for example. She was here as Gina Tognoni one day, and she was taken over by the previous actress, Michelle Stafford, the next. It’s not something that surprises fans around here. It happens so much, but it also makes it difficult for us to remember every single person on the show who had a role around here. Some of them come and

“Phyllis is really kind of controlling her life again, and possibly the town. I’m just going to leave it at that,” Michelle Stafford told “Extra” about her return to “The Young and the Restless” in her star-making role as Phyllis Summers after several years away from the CBS soap. Her return air date on the show is June 21. Watch her interview above.
“It feels really fun to be on set,” says Stafford about her “Y&r” comeback. “The very wild thing about it is it’s been six years since I’ve worked here, and nothing has really changed.” That doesn’t mean it was simple to just jump back in, though. She played Phyllis for the better part of 20 years between 1994 and 2013, but a lot happened to the character during the years since then when the role was played by Gina Tognoni. “I knew it would be difficult...

Daytime soap stars are to some people the kind that overact and tend to be extremely dramatic on screen, but to those that watch these shows they’re nothing short of brilliant and know how to tell a story in a way that’s wonderful and breathtaking. That’s if you like daytime soap operas. Gina Tognoni has been a part of those daytime soaps for years now and has been quite good at it since she’s been one of the prized cast members of a few different shows throughout her career. It definitely seems to take something different to be a soap

Not long after Greg Rikaart announced he was finished as Leo Stark on “Days of Our Lives,” it was revealed that he would be back on the show that made him a star and won him an Emmy in 2005: “The Young and the Restless.” Are you glad he’s moving back to Genoa City, or do you wish he’d stick around in Salem? Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
Rikaart spent about 15 years on “Y&R” as Kevin Fisher, the ne’er-do-well brother of lawyer Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). Kevin eventually fell in love with Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and skipped town with her and their daughter after it was discovered that Chloe killed Adam Newman (then played by Justin Hartley) in a cabin explosion.

Soap fans were surprised when it was announced that Michelle Stafford would be leaving “General Hospital” to return to her role as Phyllis on “The Young and the Restless.” That meant the current Phyllis, Gina Tognoni, will be leaving. But what about that vacancy on “Gh”? Stafford had played Nina Reeves on the ABC series for the last five years, and now “Gh” has announced that it’s swapping one Emmy winner for another: Cynthia Watros is picking up where Stafford left off.
With only four soap operas left on the air, trading talent back and forth isn’t uncommon, but this has been a busy few weeks of actor switches, and this is another significant coup. Watros comes to “Gh” with an impressive daytime resume of her own. She’s most famous for her role on “Guiding Light” as the villainous Annie Dutton, who she played from 1994 to 1998, winning...

Hey, Young And The Restless fans. We've got some pretty big and shocking casting news for you guys. It turns out that there's been a major switch-up over on the Young And The Restless set. According to the folks over at Soapcentral.com and Daytime Confidential, actress Michelle Stafford is indeed about to reprise her role of Phyllis Summers after leaving it way, way back in 2014! Unfortunately, this means that poor Gina Tognoni is out of a job over there. The Young And The Restless producers had no shame in getting rid of Gina for Michelle. In fact, they facilitated the whole thing! Soapcentral.com said that the Young And The Restless producers actually lured Michelle Stafford back to her former Young And The Restless role as soon as they found out that she was out over at General Hospital. Soapcentral provided a little back story about this whole situation.

Get ready for a major soap swap. What do you think of the actress switch? Scroll down to vote in our poll at the bottom of this post.
Stafford played Phyllis on and off for almost 20 years, first joining the cast in 1994 and ultimately leaving in 2013. In that time she earned 10 Daytime Emmy nominations, winning Best Supporting Actress in 1997 and then Best Actress in 2004. After her exit from the CBS soap she joined the cast of “Gh” as Nina Reeves in 2014, and she’s been playing her ever since.

Emmy winner Michelle Stafford is returning to The Young and the Restless as Phyllis, replacing Emmy winner Gina Tognoni in the role. According to Daytime Confidential, Tognoni has been let go from Y&R after a five-year run.
Stafford will be leaving General Hospital and the role of Nina to reprise Phyllis, a character she played from 1994-1997, and then again from 2000-2013.
Tognoni posted a statement on Instagram: "Five years ago, I was blessed to embrace the incredible character of Phyllis Summers Abbott. I am beyond grateful for the creative experience that The Young and the Restless has given to me as well as the amazing relationships I made with the cast, crew/staff, producers, and writers. I love my Genoa City family, which made it easy to give 110% every day. My long commutes always went smoothly because I loved where I worked and the people I worked with!

In a rare instance of recast uncasting, The Young and the Restless is welcoming back Michelle Stafford to the role of Phyllis, as soap vet Gina Tognoni parts ways with the CBS serial.
Daytime Confidential first reported on the reversal, citing multiple sources.
Update: A rep for ABC’s General Hospital (where Stafford has been playing Nina) has no comment on her contract status, while Y&R yet to respond to TVLine’s request for comment.
Stafford exited the role of Phyllis Summers in August 2013, after a 16-year run in which she went 2-for-10 in Daytime Emmy wins. Seven months later,...

The Young and the Restless spoilers for the Monday, October 29, 2018 episode of the CBS soap tease that the sparks won’t die between Shick. And, will Ashley (Eileen Davidson) have the last word as she departs Genoa City? Last week, Nick (Joshua Morrow) put Sharon (Sharon Case) on blast for barging into his office when she had said they would only talk about their kids. She wants nothing to do with him after he bonked Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) right before their wedding. But, he’s been a busybody hypocrite, trying to squash her platonic relationship with Rey (Jordi Vilasuso). On […]

The Young and the Restless spoilers for the Monday October 22, 2018, episode of the CBS soap tease that Billy is not safe from Phyllis’ wrath, and Summer struggles with what she’s done. Even more shocking was how Phyllis handled her daughter afterward. No, she didn’t get the same slap-into-tomorrow that Billy […]

The Young and the Restless spoilers for next week’s episodes of the CBS sudser promise that the fireworks don’t end with Ashley (Eileen Davidson) being expunged from Jabot, even as Billy (Jason Thompson) returns supposedly sober and rehabbed. Is he a better a moral specimen to take control of the family company? Probably not, seeing as how he had revenge sex with Phyllis’ (Gina Tognoni) daughter, and then crowed to both of them about it—at the same time! Ew. Really, the ick factor was off the charts on that scene. Next week, Hurricane Phyllis blows a mighty wind over Genoa […]
