Warning: This contains spoilers for Not Going Out
Back in 2015, during a BBC Breakfast interview about series seven of Not Going Out, presenter Bill Turnbull asked Lee Mack: “Did you ever imagine when you first got that pilot that you’d get seven series?”
“I didn’t think we’d even get a series,” Mack answers incredulously, explaining that even going from script to a pilot episode felt like “the biggest hurdle”.
And yet, eight years later (17 since the show began in 2006), Not Going Out has now almost doubled its series from seven to 13, still regularly pulling in audiences of over four million, with the newest series arriving on BBC One on Friday 23rd June at 9pm. As ever, the show will focus on Lee Mack as a fictionalised version of himself, alongside his landlady-turned-wife and sparring partner Lucy, and their eventful and often farcical life together.

Susanna Reid has thanked ex co-host Piers Morgan for making her a more “argumentative: presenter.
The 52-year-old celebrated her 20th anniversary of hosting morning television on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning Britain (22 March).
Reid called out Piers, thanking him for making her a “more probing” interviewer.
“Just a huge thank you to Piers Morgan of this parish – five years alongside him,” she said. “He made me bolder, more argumentative, more difficult, I think more probing... asking tricky questions.”
She continued: “We went into battle every day,.” Reid said that the show had “been slightly different since” he left.
The presenter also used the opportunity to pay tribute to her late co-host Bill Turnbull, who she first started hosting morning TV with. Turnbull died in 2022, aged 66, from prostate cancer.
After being told that Gmb had been inundated with support for Reid, presenter Charlotte Hawkins read out a message from a viewer.

Scarlett Moffatt has shared an emotional video after a stranger followed her, having seen her location on social media.
The presenter and former Gogglebox star posted a video late on Wednesday (31 August) telling followers about how, after posting about travelling to London, she was approached by a man she didn’t know.
Moffatt began the clip by thanking rail staff members named Danny and Neil for their help during the event.
“I’m doing this so that people realise the importance of using social media and not always posting where you are,” a visibly shaken Moffatt said into the camera.
“I stupidly, naively, posted an Instagram saying, ‘Off to London on the train,’ and when I got into King's Cross station, there was a guy there.
“Because Danny and Neil were there, I stayed calm, but this guy came at me and was saying ‘Scarlett, I've been waiting for you,...

Amazon boss Jeff Bezos has revealed his son warned him not to “eff up” the Lord of the Rings prequel series The Rings of Power.
Speaking at the UK premiere of the Amazon Prime Video series – at the Odeon Luxe cinema in Leicester Square, London – Bezos talked about how his children are also big fans of the fantasy world created by author Jrr Tolkien.
“In fact one of my boys, I think, approaches the level of a Tolkien scholar he knows so much about this universe,” Bezos said in a rare speech. “And after Amazon got involved in this project, my son came up to me one day, he looked me in the eyes, very sincerely, and he said: ‘Dad, please don’t eff this up.’ And he was right.

Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Walden has opened up about the pair’s six-week marriage “sabbatical.”
Earlier this year, Morgan and Walden revealed that they were taking some time apart after spending so much time in each other’s company during the Covid-19 pandemic.
During an appearance on Lorraine on Thursday (1 September), Walden told host Christine Lampard about how beneficial the break has been for her and her husband.
“It was very good for both of us,” Walden said.
The Talk TV host confirmed that she and Morgan “didn’t have any problems before”.
“It was nothing like that, but it’s been a long pandemic hasn’t it,” Walden said.
Speaking of the column where she described the idea of this sabbatical, the British journalist added: “I described it in the piece as like rebooting your computer, where sometimes, it’s not that there’s anything in particular that’s wrong,...

Bill Turnbull’s death aged 66 from prostate cancer has led many to reflect on his best broadcasting moments – but the radio and TV presenter had another great love: bees.
The former BBC Breakfast host started keeping bees about 15 years ago, after a swarm turned up at the bottom of his garden. “I called the police, who called a beekeeper, who just came along and collected the swarm in a cardboard box,” Turnbull said in a 2017 interview with outdoorist Lynne Allbutt. “I was so inspired and wanted to see if I had that zen-like ability to do the same.”
He added: “As well as my bees, I keep chickens and have two black labs, Nina and Bonny. Nina is bee-phobic. She got stung once and now prefers to wait by the car whilst I check my bees.”
Turnbull was no stranger to bee stings himself. “I’ve been stung more times than I can remember,...

The former BBC Breakfast presenter’s family confirmed on Thursday (1 September) that Turnbull had “passed away peacefully at his home” after being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017.
Piers Morgan honoured Turnbull as “one of the best broadcasters in Britain” in a tribute posted on Twitter.
His tweet read: “Rip Bill Turnbull, 66. One of the best broadcasters in Britain, and such a smart, funny, warm & generous-spirited man.
“Fought his illness with typical stoicism, courage and humour. Bill made presenting live TV look so effortless, which was his great talent. Such sad news.”
Turnbull was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017, and had taken a leave of absence from his radio show Classic FM to focus on his health in October last year. However, he returned to the show last month.

Beloved British broadcaster Bill Turnbull, who presented BBC Breakfast for 15 years, died Wednesday. He was 66.
A statement from Turnbull’s family said he had passed away peacefully at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family yesterday. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017.
“He was resolutely positive and was hugely buoyed by the support he received from friends, colleagues, and messages from people wishing him luck,” said the statement. “It was a great comfort to Bill that so many more men are now testing earlier for this disease.”
The statement added that Turnbull will be “remembered by many as a remarkable broadcaster who brought warmth and humor into people’s homes on BBC Breakfast and Classic FM.”
BBC Director General Tim Davie released a statement saying: “Bill was a much loved and respected broadcaster and journalist — not just by viewers but by all those lucky enough to have worked with him.

The family of Bill Turnbull paid tribute to him as they announced his death yesterday, saying the BBC and Classic FM presenter made them laugh every day and that they were “immensely proud” of him.
The 66-year-old, who co-hosted Breakfast for 15 years, died at home in Suffolk almost five years after being diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
A special programme will be shown in his honour on Friday, the BBC said.
“The last week of his life was very special: the whole family was with him and we shared some wonderful moments,” wife Sarah McCombie said in a statement read out on air by Naga Munchetty.
“Even though he was often in pain, Bill was dignified and brave throughout, and he was his usual determined self right to the very end.
“Billy made us laugh every day and we are immensely proud of him – he was the heart of our family.

Back in 2011 Fearnet had the pleasure of bringing Todd and The Book of Pure Evil to the Us. But we know that not everyone had the chance to catch the show because our channel wasn’t carried by their TV provider. If you fell into that category now is your chance to catch up. The entire first season is now available via hulu. What is Todd and The Book of Pure Evil? Well, it is a supernatural comedy featuring Jason Mewes ("Mallrats," "Clerks") that tells the story of a small-town high school kid trying to save the world. The hilariously twisted series also stars Alex House, Maggie Castle, Bill Turnbull, Melanie Leishman and Chris Leavins.
Check out the first episode embedded below or head over to hulu for all 13 eps.

Those who have seen the second season knows that Erica Strange (Erin Karpluk), a thirty-two-year-old woman from Toronto, broke up with her boyfriend, Ethan Wakefield (Tyron Leitso). Besides, she got fired from her job as a junior editor at River Rock, a publishing house along with her boss (and also friend), Julianne Giacomelli (Reagan Pasternak). As the second season's cliffhanger suggested it, Erica and Julianne have decided to found a publishing house of their own.
Brent Kennedy (Morgan Kelly), Erica's and Julianne's former colleague, is now the editor at River Rock. Because he holds a grudge against Erica and Julianne, he'll stop at nothing to put them out of business.
