Talented comedienne who introduced a new mix of operatic singing and
'off-the-wall' alternative comedy to Britain in the 1950's and 1960's.
Owner of one of the most versatile and powerful coloratura soprano
voices Britain ever saw, having performed in opera, West End Musicals
and serious concert platforms.
In 2004 several British newspapers reported her as living as a bag-lady
on the streets of Los Angeles. Her daughter eventually paid for her to
return to Britain where she lived in sheltered accommodation in
Surrey.
