Aleksi Vellis studied English Literature, Classics and Drama at
Melbourne University before completing the 3 year Film Directing course
at the Victorian College Of The Arts in Melbourne Australia with first
class honors.
"Nirvana Street Murder", his gritty low budget first feature, was a
critical and commercial success winning awards both in Australia and
overseas.
Aleksi's third feature film, "The Wogboy", a fast paced mainstream
comedy, is one of the five highest grossing Australian films of all
time.
Aleksi also runs a specialized film acting studio, The Film Space, and
has directed music videos, documentaries, television series and
commercials.
From the potent tragedy of the "Twelve Days of Christmas" campaign for
the Transport Accident Commission (a Gold winner at New York's
prestigious One Show) to the slick and precise wackiness of his
"Specialist" spot for Pepsi, Aleksi's work is distinguished by his
ability to work with both dramatic and comic material and his ability
to inspire top level performances from actors.
