If you are one of the few cool people who have not been watching Helix, or if you are amongst the millions who have watched it and know you need to rewatch to pick up the clues you missed the first or fourth time around, here is great news: Syfy will be airing every episode (that’s five so far) tomorrow (Thursday) night starting at 6/5c.
Seriously, if you have only seen each episode once, make sure to watch this marathon; you’ll be surprised at how much you missed the first time around. Plus, as with all serialized shows, you’ll notice things in earlier episodes that you know have been expanded in later episodes. Just trust me on this and rewatch.

If you’ve recently found yourself roaming the pages of SciFi Mafia, we thank you. Secondarily, you may have noticed we’ve devoted a fair amount of space to Syfy‘s new series Helix. That’s not just because Battlestar Galactica‘s Ron Moore is an executive producer of the show, though he is, and it’s not just because the creator of the series, Cameron Porsandeh, is a really terrific guy who has given us two exclusive interviews (the first is here, the second will be posted soon), though he has.
Nor is it because SciFi Mafia attended a really cool set tour and panel interview in Montreal, though that’s true as well. The fact of the matter is that Helix has been given a lot of space here because one, it sounded like it would be a great series, and two, because it turned out that it is a great series.

Billy checks out Syfy's newest thriller, Helix, created by Battlestar Galactica's Ron D. Moore...
This review contains spoilers.
1.1 Pilot & 1.2 Vector
After sitting through the pilot of Syfy's new thriller Helix, I really wasn’t sure if those behind it found the whole exercise a personal massive joke, or this was seriously the best ideas they could come up with. The two pilot episodes welded into a single screening provide both highs and lows along with the occasional scare and a little mystery along the way.
The show laid its paper-thin premise down in the previously aired first fifteen minutes. Nasty goings on in an Arctic research facility attract the attentions of the Us Cdc (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention), which despatches their best people in the form of Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell, The Rocketeer), his ex-wife Dr. Julia Walker (Kyra Zagorsky), other infection control experts along with,...

It’s finally here, after all these months of waiting and waiting. Helix, Syfy‘s new science-filled thriller executive produced by Battlestar Galactica‘s Ron Moore, is hitting our screens tonight with not only a double episode, but limited commercial interruptions. Thank you, Syfy!

While AMC's The Walking Dead explores life after an unexplained outbreak has turned everyone into zombies, Syfy's freshman entry, Helix, goes in the opposite direction and looks to tell an outbreak origin story. The drama, which premieres on Jan. 10 at 10 p.m., centers on Center for Disease Control pathologist Dr. Alan Farragut (The Killing's Billy Campbell) and his estranged ex-wife, Dr. Julia Walker (Kyra Zagorsky), when they're sent to the Arctic -- actually a Montreal soundstage -- to investigate a mysterious disease outbreak. What they find there is family drama, as Alan's brother, Dr. Peter Farragut (Neil Napier), has

Helix is a brand new TV thriller from Executive Producers Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica) and Steve Maeda (Lost, CSI: Miami, The X-Files) and tells the story of a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control who travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, only to find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind’s salvation…or total annihilation.
With the show set to debut on Syfy (in the Us) on January 10th, we sat down with star Kyra Zagorsky, who plays Dr. Julia Walker – a Senior Scientist at the Centers For Disease Control, and Executive Producer Steve Maeda to discuss the show’s inception, it’s story, the characters, and what we can expect from this new sci-fi series.
The setting of being up in the Arctic really seems to work well for this kind of thing.

We’ve been telling you about Syfy‘s new series Helix since it was picked up straight to series back in March. We knew it was something about a disease in a lab in the arctic, but not much else. Since then we’ve seen a synopsis and a trailer (reprinted below if you need a refresher), but questions remain.
I learned a lot more about the show when I visited the Montreal set last month; you can see some of those photos here. It was there that then-Syfy President of Original programming Mark Stern called Helix a “very serialized” show, and there that I met the creator of Helix, former economist Cameron Porsandeh (on the left with cast).
While in Montreal I also learned from a Syfy exec that this is the show to watch for those of us who love good, meaty, smart, challenging science fiction. “Very” serialized,...

A new trailer has been released for Ron Moore's new SyFy series Helix. I think this looks like it's going to be a really good series. It has an eerily cool X-Files kind of vibe, which kind of makes sense because because it comes from the producers of the series.

This show Helix is looking really, really promising. SciFiMafia.com attended a set tour and panel Q&A session last week in Montreal – more about that in the days to come – and this show could fill a real void in the science-fiction thriller arena. It takes place on a normal day and it’s about trying to keep the spirits quiet."

Actress Sarah Jane Morris played Julia Walker on Brothers & Sisters once upon a time, but her story continues as she signs on for a guest spot on ABC’s Body of Proof.
Body of Proof follows Dana Delany as medical examiner Dr. Megan Hunt, who was once a star neurosurgeon until a car accident ended her career. Season three kicks off in February of 2013 and in that season’s 12th episode, Sarah Jane Morris will appear as a flight attendant. TV Line reported that her character’s name is Pamela Jacks and she’ll become key in the aftermath of an “airline tragedy”. I wonder if this episode was at all inspired by the recent Denzel Washington film, Flight.
In season three, adds dashing former Human Target actor, Mark Valley will join the cast, so makr your calendar for Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 10/9c. It will take the place of Private Practice...

Brothers & Sisters is about to reach the coveted 100-episode milestone, and one of its departed, original cast members is reportedly coming back for the occasion.
Balthazar Getty, who plays Tommy Walker and who has returned in the same role several times since leaving the show as a full-time cast member, will guest star.
Tommy will also be bringing his girlfriend. Yes. Girlfriend.
Tommy and Nora Walker (Sally Field) during his last appearance.
Balthazar Getty, who split from his wife Rosetta around the same time Tommy and Julia Walker (Sarah Jane Morris) divorced, has reconciled with his real-life spouse.
His TV persona, it appears, has moved on to someone else.
The girlfriend storyline for the 100th episode, slated to air sometime in January, is still being written and subject to change, but that's where we are at the moment.
Are you happy Tommy's coming back? Might Rebecca or Robert follow suit?...

It's a good day for funny people, especially if your name is Tina Fey or Seth MacFarlane.
Fey's series, 30 Rock, was handed 22 Emmy nominations this morning, which stands as a record for a comedy series. She and Alec Baldwin were also nominated for acting awards. Plus, for the first time some of the other actors on NBC's laffer were recognized. Jane Krakowski, Jack McBrayer and Tracy Morgan all picked up supporting nominations.
MacFarlane's Family Guy was also nominated for best comedy series, the first time an animated show has cracked that category since The Flintstones in 1961. Two years ago MacFarlane decided to pull his show from contention in the animated series category to have it considered for best comedy.
Mad Men, the drama about the advertising world in the sixties, picked up 16 nominations in the drama categories, including a best actor nod for Jon Hamm. Hamm is also nominated as...

"Brothers & Sisters" returns for a third season as executive producers Ken Olin, Greg Berlanti, Monica Owusu-Breen and Alison Schapker continue to follow the California-based Walker family through the complicated maze of American life today. The compelling one-hour drama, which airs Sundays from 10:00-11:00 p.m., Et on ABC, is about a collection of five enmeshed and somewhat damaged adult siblings and their strong but passionately devoted mother, Nora Walker (Oscar and Emmy Award winner Sally Field). The Walkers' lives have not been without challenge; romance, parenting, divorce, infidelity, addiction, war and even death have pushed each of them to the limit, but they continue to work toward living their lives as individuals, while loving each other unconditionally and trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy after the loss and lies of their larger-than-life family patriarch, William Walker.
