U.K. broadcaster BBC’s new chief content officer Charlotte Moore will be stepping away from commissioning and her role as controller of flagship channel BBC One “in order to focus on the strategy and shape of the new BBC Content division,” the BBC has confirmed to Variety.
Beginning Sept. 21, as part of an interim structure, Moore has appointed Kate Phillips, controller of entertainment commissioning, to take up the post of acting controller for BBC One. Jo Wallace will cover behind Kate as controller of entertainment for this interim period, the BBC said.
“My role is very much bringing radio, television, sport, children and education together under one division,” Moore said during a press conference on Tuesday. “I need to spend the next few weeks really thinking about how that new division will work. Therefore, stepping away from actually commissioning and the day-to-day running of BBC One is really important...

While Ramsay has hosted and judged plenty of cooking shows over the years, from “MasterChef” to “Hell’s Kitchen,” this will mark his first outing as a game show host.
“Bank Balance” is described as a “high-stakes, high-pressure, game show where contestants need both knowledge and nerves to succeed, where they can literally build themselves a fortune or see it come crashing down in an instant!”
Studio Ramsay is in discussions to bring the series to U.S. viewers. The series is slated to begin filming later this year. Bank Balance was commissioned by Kate Phillips, BBC Controller of Entertainment Commissioning. Jo Wallace is executive producing for the BBC.

Gordon Ramsay is to host his first ever game show after his production company scored a primetime commission from the BBC.
The British public broadcaster has ordered Bank Balance, a show described as greed versus strategy.
The Hell’s Kitchen star is fronting the show, which will see contestants compete in a high-stakes, high-pressure quiz, where they can literally build themselves a fortune or see it come crashing down in an instant.
The BBC won the rights after a competitive pitch and “a few weeks of intense negotiations”, according to Studio Ramsay. Tabloid reports earlier in the summer had suggested that the show would air on rival ITV. Filming will begin later this year.
The production company is currently in discussions with networks for a U.S. version of the show. You’d have thought that Fox might be participating in those discussions given the fact that Ramsay hosts and executive...

LONDON -- British Sky Broadcasting has promoted two executives as part of an effort to strengthen its flagship Sky One channel's look and appeal to audiences, the satellite broadcaster said Thursday. Jo Wallace has been named director of original programming for Sky One, while Ian Lewis will add the role of director of broadcasting for Sky One to his current responsibilities as the director of schedules and promotions for Sky Networks. Formerly head of music channels at Sky, Wallace's new job will be to "direct and support the existing Sky One commissioning team to deliver a range of highly promotable and smart programming," Sky said in a statement. Lewis will oversee Sky One's schedule, on-air look and compliance. Both will report to Sky One controller James Baker. The moves are part of a policy initiated by Sky Networks managing director Dawn Airey.
