Directed by Mary Lambert from a screenplay by Stephen King himself, the 1989 film Pet Sematary is widely considered to be one of the best King adaptations ever made. The 1992 sequel, which was directed by Lambert from a screenplay by Richard Outten, is much less popular… and that’s why we’re looking at Pet Sematary II (watch it Here) in today’s episode of the video series The Black Sheep! To find out why we think Pet Sematary II deserves more love, check out the video embedded above.
Pet Sematary II has the following synopsis:
When his mother Renee dies, young Jeff Matthews moves back to his hometown with his father, Chase. Jeff grows friendly with Drew Gilbert at school, who tells him about the Indian burial grounds that bring people and animals back to life, which led to the deaths of the Creed family who used to live in town.

Director Mary Lambert cut her teeth on a lot of big-name music videos throughout the ’80s, including Madonna, The Eurythmics, Chris Isaak, and Janet Jackson. But her big splash in the horror world came in 1990 when she adapted perhaps one of Stephen King’s darkest novels, Pet Sematary. Lambert leveraged melodrama in the original film to explore the dark places we go in the midst of grief. But for the 1992 sequel, Lambert swaps out an operatic tone for something grungier, meaner, funnier, and, dare I say it, better?
When the original Pet Sematary pulled in $57.1 million off an $11.5 million budget, Paramount promptly chomped at the bit to produce a sequel. Although King had written the screenplay for the first film, he passed on coming up with something for a sequel as he got the sense that a follow-up would just tell the same story all over again. Lambert had an...

We dig up the underrated sequel to Stephen King's horror classic and pay our respects to Pet Sematary 2.
What is it about horror movie sequels? They either hit the mark or miss them completely, and it’s never in between. But there are no absolutes. It's all subjective. Take Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh for example. Some find it superior to the original film, citing that it's more engaging, atmospheric, and bone-chilling. Since I can hardly ever get past the first 20 minutes of it, I can't say that I agree with them. On the other side of the coin, we have Urban Legend: Final Cut. I can't really defend this one, but I can say this: I would watch the hell out of it before I would ever revisit the first again. Why? Personal reasons, I guess. (That it used a film school as its...

A crowd awaits the opening of Digital Convertor for Black Friday. As a man searches for his wallet, the crowd get restless and frenzied. A woman is trampled; as a girl lets go of her father's hand and wanders off. Whilst at Cal's (Tim Roth) a boy, Max (Daniel Ross) hires Cal to find if he is James Knox, who was kidnapped. Lots of cold case solving in this show. He shows Cal the scar on his body and pays him. Gillian (Kelli Williams) can't believe he took his money. Hey I said that. Cal allows Max to question his current parents, the Roland's and advises him not to back down on anything. Max took a DNA test and found he isn't related. Eli (Brendan Hines) has the photo of the footage from the store and Bernardo (Shashawnee Hall) hires them to show they're not at fault, thus significantly reducing the settlement payout.

Castle (Nathan Fillion) watches Beckett (Stana Katic) doing boring paperwork and Castle comments on the worst tasting coffee he's ever had. How does he know what a monkey that's peed in battery acid tastes like. Beckett thinks he's hiding since his book is out today. A Db has been found dumped in a rug. Castle takes photos of the Cs without the other's knowledge. He comments, "every artist needs a muse." Beckett threatens to break his legs if he calls her his muse. She's so violent, well if it isn't the use of a gun, it's physical violence she has on her mind. Castle doesn't believe it was a robbery since he wouldn't hang around to wrap him in a rug. But he also knows who the Vic is, as usual, kept that to himself for a while. He's Councilman Jeff Horn ( from the bus ads) he's up for re-election.
