Warner Bros. Pictures has signed "In the Heart of the Sea" author and "The Town" co-scribe Aaron Stockard to pen an adaptation of Nathaniel Philbrick's novel "Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution".
Originally set up three years ago as a possible directing vehicle for Ben Affleck, that possibility still remains with Affleck, Matt Damon and Jennifer Todd to produce the film through through their Pearl Street company.
The book deals with the events leading up to 1775's bloody Battle of Bunker Hill in Boston where two-hundred British soldiers were killed and the battle was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. It ultimately gave encouragement to colonists by demonstrating that the local militias could stand up to British troops.

History is making another addition to its original programming with an order for a new miniseries, Sons of Liberty. Hot off the continued success of Vikings, and the critical acclaim of other miniseries efforts (like The Bible and Hatfields & McCoys), the network now aims at what looks like a pretty interesting take on the lives of the biggest names of the American Revolution.
It seems as though we’re going for a “no really, they were just actual people,” approach to things, apparently trying to show that these were real men, with real lives and real problems, who threw themselves into something, probably far beyond their expectations. That could be a story worth telling, and there are some great cast members involved. Some audiences may have to be convinced that Ryan Eggold can get them to like him after he so recently got them to hate him on The Blacklist,...

Boston and Ben Affleck go together like the Red Sox and Fenway Park, so it makes sense that Warner Bros. would court the director for its latest Boston-based project. But Affleck, who set his first two films (“Gone, Baby, Gone” and “The Town”) in present-day Boston, might need to brush up on his Beantown history before he takes the helm of the movie -- it's based on a book about the Battle of Bunker Hill, one of the key fights in the lead up to the American Revolution. Warner Bros. acquired the rights this week to “Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution,” written by Nathaniel Philbrick and set for publication in April, with Affleck in mind to direct. Deadline reports that “Argo” screenwriter Chris Terrio would also pen this project, adding to its pedigree even in its infancy. The book details the 1775 battle, which followed tensions that sprung...

Warner Bros. is looking to develop a big screen adaptation of an upcoming non-fiction book called Bunker Hill: A City, a Siege, a Revolution. The book was written by Nathaniel Philbrick, and the story centers on the battle of Bunker Hill, which is the battle that thrust America into the Revolution in 1775. This is a great story, and I have no doubt it will make for an amazing film.
Deadline says that Ben Affleck could end up directing the film, but as of right now it's not set in stone. I loved what Affleck did with Argo, and I think this would be a great project for him to take on, so I hope he does it. Here's a description of the book, which is set to be released on April 30th.

If Ben Affleck's Oscar-winning Argo raised eyebrows in some quarters for its staunchly pro-us stance on the Iran hostage crisis, his latest proposed project looks set to up the patriotic fervour considerably. The actor-turned-film-maker is being lined up to direct an adaptation of the forthcoming Nathaniel Philbrick historical book, Bunker Hill: A city, A Siege, A Revolution, which tells the story of the battle that started the American revolution.
Deadline reports that Warner Bros has agreed a seven-figure deal for screen rights to the book, which is due to be published next month in the Us, with Affleck in mind. It is set in Boston, the director's preferred location and the setting for his films Gone Baby Gone and The Town, though the action takes place in distant 1775.

After taking home the Best Picture Oscar for Argo last month, Ben Affleck is reuniting with Warner Bros. for his next film, Live By Night. And it looks like he’ll be working with them once more to adapt the upcoming book, Bunker Hill: A City, A Siege, A Revolution.
Written by Nathaniel Philbrick, Bunker Hill is due to be published at the end of next month, with the studio acquiring the rights in a high six-figure against seven-figure deal to bring it to the big screen, Deadline report.
The book has been acquired for Pearl Street Films, with Ben Affleck eyeing it as a potential directing vehicle. It’s thought that Affleck is setting Chris Terrio, who also earned an Oscar last month for his Argo script, to pen the Bunker Hill script. And Affleck and Terrio working together once more is definitely something we’d love to see.
