Garth Brooks has taken his country music to Las Vegas and isn’t going anywhere else any time soon.
Back in May, the “Friends in Low Places” singer began his concert residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and will be there until December 16. He’ll be taking a break for a few months after but is scheduled to return to the Colosseum on April 18 next year.
Last week, Brooks performed at the opening of his new bar in Nashville, Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk.
“This town has been amazing to me,” Brooks said during his performance in Nashville. “When this [opportunity] popped up, the thought was, does Garth Brooks owe Nashville? You bet Garth Brooks owes Nashville.”
He then went on to explain the reason he named his bar after his hit song.
“You can like Garth Brooks. You can not like Garth Brooks. Either way,...

Clarence leaves behind a loving family and a sea of friends and associates that have changed the world and will continue to change the world for generations to come. Exclusive: Warner Bros has landed What’s Going On, a biopic of iconic soul singer Marvin Gaye that Allen Hughes will direct, and produce with Dr. Dre, Jimmy Iovine and Andrew Lazar. The studio acquired a script by poet-playwright Marcus Gardley (he wrote the musical The Color Purple for WB) and the singer’s estate and Motown are part of the deal so there will be rights to use all of Gaye’s signature songs. This finally will bring to the screen the singer’s story, after many previous attempts by different filmmakers stalled or fell short of the rights needed.
“This is so personal for me,” Hughes told Deadline. “When I made my first film with my brother, we were fortunate to get “What’s Going On” into the trailer for Menace 2 Society, and it was a game changer in elevating the marketing of that film. Every film of...

The “Snow Owls” represent the first duet celebrity contestants in the show’s history. Will they sing “I’ve Got You Babe,” by Sonny & Cher? “It Takes Two,” by Marvin Gaye and Kim Weston? Summer's here, and the time is right..
When Martha Reeves joined Motown Records, it wasn't because owner Berry Gordy thought she had the chops to become one of the label's biggest stars. In fact, she was originally hired in as a secretary.
But Reeves pushed for a chance to sing on demos Motown produced in the tiny recording studio built within a home on Detroit's Grand Boulevard. They didn't call themselves the Vandellas yet, but Reeves, Rosalind Ashford, Annette Beard and Gloria Williams (who later dropped out) all began to sing backup for a Motown up-and-comer named Marvin Gaye. Gordy was so impressed, he eventually offered the women a recording deal -- and dubbed them Martha and the Vandellas.
Their early singles caught the ears of American listeners -- tracks like "Come And Get These Memories" and "(Love Is Like a) Heat Wave" burned up the charts. Then, another Motown singer,...

A gospel brunch on the 28th floor of the Millbank Tower on London’s South Bank was something I approached with equal parts trepidation, cynicism and anxious excitement. Most thrilling to me was the opportunity to see London from a great height whilst enjoying some good food and drink, but, to be honest, I wasn’t sure how I’d fare with the gospel music. I guess, to be honest, it’s because this was a Sunday and I was having flashbacks to my childhood and my Church of England schooling. In contrast to that, however, I have always enjoyed the sound and soul of gospel music and it is a world removed from the drab hymns of my youth, so I don’t know why I was a tad tentative going into this.

We’ve just received information that the world premiere of the brand new Michael Jackson biopic, is set to take place right in here in London. To celebrate, we’ve been given this brand new clip from the movie which is introduced by legendary music Producer and friend to the Jackson family, David Gest.
Following the announcement, we get to see a new clip from the movie entitled He Went to a New Level which I’ve placed in the video embedded below. When you see the clip you just scratch the surface of the impact that he made on the world. I was astonished at some of the clips seeing just a few of the people he met.
I’ve also placed the press release that we have been sent with full details on the World Premiere which is set to take place on November 2nd 2011 at the Empire Leicester Square.

It's weird to say, but Peter Gabriel won't be the only former Genesis frontman to release a covers album this year. Phil Collins will be tackling Motown and soul songs of the '60s on "Going Back" (Atlantic) due in September, marking the rocker and solo artist's first studio recordings in eight years. Featured are three songs each from Stevie Wonder tracks, Martha and the Vandellas and The Four Tops. Songs by The Temptations, Goffin-King/Dusty Springfield, Curtis Mayfield, The Ronettes, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Supremes and Kim Weston are also included. Below is a complete tracklist.
