- As a child, she was a trained dancer and successful variety artist. In 1972, she met mime Robert Shields and formed Shields & Yarnell, a very successful mime act that went from San Francisco street corners to stages all over the world.
- She and her second husband Robert Shields were one of three married couples to make guest appearances in The Muppet Show (1976). The other two were Kris Kristofferson and Rita Coolidge and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans.
- Her wedding to Robert Shields was performed in mime.
- One half of the popular 70s act, Shields and Yarnell, which was an American mime team, formed in 1972, consisting of Robert Shields and Lorene Yarnell.
- She is buried at Sandar Church Cemetery in Sandefjord, Norway.
- Dance partner with Broadway's Lawrence R. Leritz. They appeared together in a spectacular 1983 outdoor production of Cole Porter's "Can-Can", which played at The Muny in St. Louis to rave reviews.
