Kanye West’s latest ambitious venture may be his most surprising – and most mysterious.
Over the past decade, West has cemented himself not only as a musical force but also as a cultural and creative visionary, with the launch of his Yeezy line, major collaborations with Adidas and Gap, and tech projects like the Stem Player.
Now, he’s moving into education with Donda Academy, his own private school named after his late mother, Professor Donda West. Headquartered in Simi Valley, California, the tuition-based Christian prep school’s mission, according to its website,...

Kanye West has opened a private Christian school called Donda Academy.
According to the school’s website, the mission is to “prepare students to become the next generation of leaders” by way of “an ethic of integrity and care.”
The school is based in Simi Valley, California, and is a tuition-based, Christianity-rooted preparatory school.
Students will apparently engage in “full school worship; core classes of language arts, math and science; lunch and recess; enrichment courses including world language, visual art, film, choir, and parkour”.
Two anonymous sources told Rolling Stone that families who wish to enroll in Donda Academy must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
West, who legally changed his name to Ye, collaborated with producer Malik Yusef for the initiative.
“I want to be emphatic that there’s never been a time that Kanye West did not want to do this,” Yusef told the music magazine. “I think people don...

Kanye West's former friend and G.O.O.D. Music associate, Malik Yusef, is being sued for allegedly forging Ye's signature and making millions of dollars in the process. The producer and songwriter Jeff Bhasker has worked on four albums with Kanye West. 808s & Heartbreak was their first collaboration, and likely the most memorable. “It was probably the easiest Kanye West record that ever got made,” he said. “It flowed the most effortlessly because we basically did it in three weeks.”
Ten years after its release, 808s & Heartbreak is an absolute. Its influence never really ceased reverberating, and its imprint still appears with some frequency across hip-hop (and pop music writ large). Kanye West’s fourth studio album raised...

The internet had a field day Tuesday with reports that Kanye West was working on an album titled "I Am God," a rumor that seemed to originate from a parenthetical in a BBC post about what West and Kim Kardashian may name their child (apparently "North" is a name that's in the running).
Given West's habit of being outspoken (and a Rolling Stone cover in which he posed in a crown of thorns), many sites were eager to run with the unattributed factoid. The only problem is that that rumor appears to be a bit of a misunderstanding. A reliable source in West's camp tells HuffPost Entertainment that the title is actual for an upcoming single, and that the album's name has yet to be set. The track will be called "I Am A God" (emphasis added).

An artist within Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music camp has told The Huffington Post that there will be no "Cruel Winter" compilation album.
Malik Yusef, a Grammy-winning songwriter and spoken-word artist who appears on "Cruel Summer," adds that the term is instead being used to describe "a Donda movement of art, including music and fashion." (Donda is West's all-purpose design and innovation firm, named after his late mother.)
The new information comes on the heels of label signee Common's assertion that G.O.O.D. Music's rappers, singers and producers are working on their solo material. "'Cruel Winter' is this frantic pace of getting our collective powers moving," Yusef said. "It's a spiritual thing."
"We all have 2013 offerings and initiatives coming," he added. Yusef has been working on music, Common starred in "Luv" and rumors of a solo West album have been percolating for some time now.

Despite the rumors that had Kanye West preparing to release G.O.O.D. His fellow Cruel Summer alum Big Sean, for one, remains steadfast in his declarations that Cruel Winter is both real and on its way. And Malik Yusef posted a photo of himself and ...

Turns out winter might actually be pretty cruel for fans of Kanye West and his G.O.O.D. Music family of artists. Common says "Cruel Winter," the follow-up to last year's "Cruel Summer" compilation, is nothing but a rumor.
In a video interview with Vibe (available below), Common says he's unsure if Kanye West is planning "Cruel Winter" at all. The "I Used to Love H.E.R." rapper repeated his doubts in an interview with Vulture, sounding even more convinced there was no compilation in the works: "Oh, yeah, nah, nah. It's Wednesday night, and Rihanna is at the Plaza Condesa in Mexico City, not singing the chorus of her hit song "Only Girl (in the World)" for an audience of 700 people. She delivers the verses faithfully enough, her world-famous voice sounding confident if hurried. But as the synths kick in, she drops the microphone from her face, leaving it to her backup singers -- and prerecorded backing tracks -- to handle the familiar lyrics about wanting to be loved like the only girl in the world.
It's just another example of Rihanna being Rihanna. If she wants to turn this concert into an MP3 listening party with dance moves, she will. And if she wants to charter a jet and stuff it with 250 journalists, musicians and contest-winners, you can bet she will do that too.

Kanye West knocks Mitt Romney in the first song off Cruel Summer, the highly anticipated G.O.O.D. Music compilation album due in stores on Tuesday.
"I'm just trying to protect my stacks / Mitt Romney don't pay no tax," West raps on "To The World," a song which also features R. Kelly. The lyric is an obvious reference to Romney's low tax rate and refusal to release a substantive number of tax returns.
Nicki Minaj also mentioned Romney in a song. Kanye West certainly knows how to get press. A few short hours after it was revealed that he wouldn't be attending the MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper drops a helluva distraction: "Clique," his new single with Jay-z and Big Sean.
The song -- which was teased in a leaked snippet -- is off Cruel Summer, the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation. It's produced by Hit-Boy, so it's no surprise that the drums have indeed showed up in full force.
Notable lyrics: Kanye bragging about Kim's sex tape (with Ray-j...), bragging about hanging out with former CIA director George Tenet, Jay-z mean-mugging snitches, Big Sean not sleeping for nine days, Big Sean shouting out 2 Chainz for no reason (no reason is needed!).
The song debuted on Kanye's website and was dropped by Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex as well.
Here's the full tracklist for Cruel Summer, due in stores Sept.

A snippet of a track off Cruel Summer has made its way online. TMZ posted clip of "Clique," a track which also features Big Sean and Jay-z. 'Ye is heard rapping about eating breakfast at Gucci, "American Idol," the CIA, George Tenet and Maybachs.
But one line in particular stands out: "Eat breakfast at Gucci. My girl a superstar all from a home movie."
It's a reference to Kanye's ever-present girlfriend Kim Kardashian, who became famous after an amateur sex tape featuring her and singer Ray-j was leaked online.
