Composer, author, pianist and publisher Walter J. Leopold died in Hollywood, California on December 28, 1956. He was educated at the Pratt Institute, Columbia University and the Heffley Institute, where he earned a civil-engineering degree. He worked as a pianist in several Brooklyn theatres and for music publishers. On stage in vaudeville acts, he worked with Bert Lewis and Emma Carus. He became a publisher in 1922, and joined ASCAP in 1942. His song compositions include "Take Me Back to Dreamland", "Oh, How She Can Dance", "Is It A Sin?", "Beautiful Mother of Mine", "Plant a Little Garden in Your Own Back Yard", "Everybody Loves the Irish", "You Wouldn't Fool a Friend", and "There's Something In The Wind".
