- Composer, author, pianist and publisher Walter J. Leopold died in Hollywood, California on December 28, 1956. He was educated at the Pratt Institute, Columbia University and the Heffley Institute, where he earned a civil-engineering degree. He worked as a pianist in several Brooklyn theatres and for music publishers. On stage in vaudeville acts, he worked with Bert Lewis and Emma Carus. He became a publisher in 1922, and joined ASCAP in 1942.
